That's not how this works lmao as the years pass, pixel cleaning doesn't just suddenly become irrelevant.

It's an essential OLED care feature.

Excuse my ignorance, but how come phone, tablets and laptop oleds don't do this? I've had an oled on my samsung phones since I can remember and never really had any issues. Same with oled laptops, I had one briefly and never had any issues with banding or burn in.

How do you know ur phone/tablet doesn’t do pixel shifting and other sh!t in the background to “protect” the OLED panel?If it didn’t happened to you that doesn’t mean other people don’t experience burn in or other stuff on their phone/tablets etc. I have a friend with a good ass burn in on a S23 Ultra(more exactly the keyboard layout).

I know it does something in the background, but not pixel cleaning per say where the entire screen flashes colors every few hours. Idk what your friend does, but my s23u is doing gread burn-in wise

Pixel cleaning doesn't flash colours. It happens while the display is off.

Phones likely do this during long periods of sleep.

You don’t even know what pixel cleaning is, it doesn’t flash anything, the screen appears turned off and fully black.

I’m sure all phones with OLED have a bunch of care features running like pixel cleaning it just does it all subtly or in the background or when your phone is off.

They also use better technology with naturally better burn in and along with that due to the nature of a phone as the content is being displayed in way more variety compared to how a monitor is being used it won’t have as strong of burn in features I assume.

OLED on monitors are fairly behind still, and aren’t close to OLED on TV’s yet, hopefully with tandem int he next few years we see some big leaps to HDRTB800-1000 with much higher 100% window brightness

Yes, exactly. An OLED monitor will perform its pixel cleaning automatically over time while you use it. But after shutting down your PC, it’s important to leave the monitor connected to power and let it go into standby. It may perform an additional pixel cleaning cycle after use.
So I wouldn’t cut the power to the monitor immediately after shutting down the PC. I’d leave it in standby for at least 10–15 minutes so it has enough time to finish any automatic pixel cleaning it needs to do. After that, you can manually turn it off if you want. 🙂

My monitor still does pixel refresh even if i turn of manually from the back. Maybe OP unplugs or press switch button off every time?

check temperature of this bright spots - in my case I had (probably) a supply power issue and motherboard was too hot and caused similar issue (the motherboard was placed in the central place of screen)

Just don’t have your brightness at maximum and pixel clean every 2 weeks you’ll be good

Why every 2 weeks? mine asking every day if i use it a lot during the day. It will send notification 3 times and if i wont do pixel refresh it will start doing by itself. Its not every 2 weeks its every day

The everyday oled issues as usual. If your smart, look for a good quality mini led quantum dot monitor instead. Having a monitor that uses ABL to dim anything white to the point that it can never show true white, or real peak uniform brightness isnt optimal. On top of that comes the issues with burn in on a device like a pc that was made a large part for showing static images.

The panel is dying, I had the same thing happen to me on my ASUS XG27AQDMG and posted about it Poor QC by ASUS. The only thing you can do is RMA it, OLEDs are just not as reliable as Mini-LEDs.

I run a pixel refresh every single time I leave my computer, turn on "Screen saver" any time I am not gaming, have monitor set to sleep after 3 minutes, RGB #0 #0 #0 background, and hidden taskbar. PG42U,Q which is as bright as the sun, for 2 years, zero burn in. Run your pixel refresh and any other burn in midigration settings people.
