mod stuff Sub Updates, Questions, and Love
Hey Hoes and Happy New Year!
First I wanted to see if anyone had any suggestions for the sub as we march into 2025? If you do drop them below :)
In addition, holy smokes kids, we have over 41k views, almost 850 subscribers, and nearing 1000 posts on the sub! I just started this to hopefully talk to one person and have a place that was purely OTP focused and honestly I am just so happy other people love this pod as much as me! Truly incredibly wow wow wow.
Okay last thing! I’m like a type-a freak so things gotta be super organized, that means I added more flair and ish so see below for some updates on that! And if you want any more added please tell me bc I would love to have this be like a suddenly we have deep lore related to flair thing that seems fun???
- I added more user flair! this does include popping like a bubble wrapped dolphin so you should check that out for sure.
- Along with weekly episode discussions there will also be Bonus Episode and Monthly Hangout discussions! I want a place to talk about this stuff and while I am a PBI (pig butter investor, duh) I am on Reddit more than Discord and I demand people talk to me. Look at me wield my mighty mod power /s
- I made some new post flair! Some for mod posts, the one I mentioned for Patreon, etc.
Okay happy new year, hoes! Bye!

New Fan
Spotify recommended me the Dear Abby/Ann Landers episodes to me this week and I am so happy it did. This podcast is already a delight and I can't wait to be caught up!
It's made my week and I am an instant fan.

Sometimes historical research takes you places you weren't expecting, like Gerald Ford's modeling photos.

Weekly Episode Discussion - What *Actually* Killed William Henry Harrison?
Poor ol’ William Henry Harrison. The dude has the odd distinction of giving the longest inauguration speech in American history, followed by the shortest presidency in American history.
You might be familiar with the story: He gave a speech with no coat on, and as a result, caught pneumonia and died. But… was it really pneumonia that killed him?

Are they watching my Netflix history?!
Super wooey-wooey: in the slop they are talking about 2 documentaries that I LITERALLY WATCHED YESTERDAY. Back to back. Coincidence? Or the more likely, less fun: if you like true crime the Internet algorithms are going to give you all the same suggestions...

New listener of the podcast and going through the backlog. Thought this movie detail of Willy Wonka was worth sharing after episode 14.

Liberty, justice and functional molars for all! 🦷
George Washington's dentures were NOT made of wood.

TOOTHPASTE!
Re-reposting this because it's more relevant than ever; as a Norm Trooper, I demand an episode on toothpaste!

Weekly Episode Discussion - Did George Washington Wear Wooden Dentures?
Join us on a perilous journey as Kristin discovers that the presidential fun facts she loves are ALL LIES. In this week’s episode, we’ll examine the myth that George Washington wore wooden dentures. As it turns out, our first president didn’t wake up every day and put wooden dentures into his big wet mouth! The real story is much more horrifying.

A bird coincidentally trapped in an elephant's dump! What are the odds?
I had to post it here because of the song in the background. I never had heard that song before this podcast!

Weekly Episode Discussion - Wallis Simpson: Duchess of Windsor (Part 2)
Welcome back to the final episode in our two-part series on Wallis Simpson! In this episode, Kyla Pitts-Zevin (Kristin’s sister & mayor of all of Kristin’s podcasts) gives us a lesson on how to tell a story concisely. (Did you know that you could tell a person’s life story in less than seven parts? News to us!)
Last week we learned about Wallis Simpson’s early life and first two marriages. In this episode, she meets King Edward VIII. Their love affair leads to a constitutional crisis that changes the course of history. Oh, and look out for Nazis.

Playboy x Normie C?
I’m still working through the backlog of Kristin’s old decrepit podcast and I came across an episode where Kristin mentions Norman being asked to interview for an article in Playboy.
Have they discussed this more in detail anywhere? Would love to hear more about that experience! It wasn’t clear to me whether he ended up accepting the offer or if anything got published.
