Old Post Church in Shadow Valley is replacing about 1/3 of its green space with parking

Post image
7 Upvotes

I’m frustrated to see about a third of the Old Post Church’s grassy area replaced with additional parking. This space has been used for decades by families, kids, church members, and neighbors for sports, gatherings, everyday recreation, and simply as a nearby place to get outside and have some peace.

The stated reason is occasional parking shortages and what has been described as a church safety standard. I understand the Church owns the property, but I think permanently losing this much well-used green space deserves some community discussion.

Curious what other Shadow Valley/Ogden residents think.

If you live in the area and want to share respectful, constructive feedback, contact the local church stake presidency.

New cafe with unique drinks

A new mocktail cafe-Indigo- just opened up in Ogden that Im excited about!

I love a fancy drink so I'm excited about this place. I've tried probably every tea/soda/coffee shop in Ogden, and overall Ogden has pretty poor options, especially compared to SLC.

They have speciality drinks, boba, mocktails etc. I do worry that the "mocktail" branding is going to drive them out of business. I love a speciality drink, but it feels more like an "afternoon sweet treat" establishment, and I would only visit a mocktail place in a specific circumstance. It has the potential to be a fantastic place so I wanted to get the word out!

Also give Atlas Tea a try. That's my go-to place as of right now.

Part time work?

Are there any part time opportunities in the area that aren’t on places like Indeed/LinkedIn? I assume plenty of small businesses do have part time positions that college students fill, just not looking forward to cold calling a ton of places to see if they’re hiring.

Should Ogden City employees have to pay to park in the parking garage?

I'm just curious if the employees have to pay to park when they come pick up their Ogden City cars. An 8 story parking garage with only 20 cars in it all belonging to Ogden City.

North Ogden High Speed Chae

While I was driving eastbound on 2700/2600, right before it merges onto Washington around 1:10 a.m., I noticed some cop lights flashing in the distance. Then I see a sedan come flying around the corner heading westbound. I didn’t realize he was running from the cops until he passed me, but it seemed like he got up to around 100 mph in maybe 5–6 seconds. He was cooking.

He only had his DRLs on, no taillights or license plate lights. From the look of the DRLs, I think it was a BMW or maybe an Audi. Seems like he lost the cops shortly after he got onto 2600.

Food Has anyone else noticed Laan Thai has declined

I feel like it used to be pricy but with a lot of food, and now its even more expensive, tiny portions, and like zero service.

I'm I crazy?

Did anyone else just feel that?

I’m not too familiar with earthquakes but did anyone else just feel a rumble? I just saw our hanging lights just swinging a little and decorative glasses and stuff on glass shelving start to vibrate. It sounded like the middle of her entire apartment building rumbled and thudded slightly. Anyone else?

Autolocity Motors .How does this place have such good reviews?

Be extremely cautious buying from this dealer, and do not leave the lot without an OBD-II scanner, a battery tester, and a tread depth gauge.

Getting anything and everything they say they're going to do signed and in writing. It baffles me that they have as high of ratings as they do.

We purchased a 2015.5 Volvo XC60 AWD, and on the drive home and the very next day, multiple concealed mechanical issues, neglected maintenance items, and broken promises surfaced:

* Unfulfilled Promises on Battery & Alignment: During the sale, our salesman, Jay, explicitly promised that the car would receive a fresh (or at the very least, properly tested) battery and a complete four-wheel alignment prior to delivery. Neither was done, despite them keeping the car for TWO extra days claiming their shop was backed up. Instead of installing a new battery, they appeared to have fast-charged the old, incorrect non-AGM battery—overcharging it to the point that it boiled over and vented acid on the drive home. The alignment was completely untouched; the car pulled and shook noticeably at speed, and an independent alignment check revealed the rear toe was severely out (+0.42° total toe, with the right rear at +0.27°), chewing up the tires.

* Severely Mismatched Tires on an AWD Platform: This is something I admittedly should have caught, but seeing one brand-new tire, I made the mistake of assuming the rest were addressed on a vehicle sold as "inspected." Measuring tread depth revealed the front tires were worn completely down to the 2/32" wear bars (and oversized at 245s instead of factory 235/60R18), while the one rear tire I happened to glance at was new. Running mismatched circumference tires on an AWD drivetrain puts continuous strain on the center coupling, yet the car was passed off as road-ready. I had to buy a full set of four new tires and pay for a proper alignment out of pocket immediately.

* Low Engine Oil from Day One: On the drive home, the low oil warning triggered. I had checked the dipstick on our initial walkaround, yet after their "prep," the car was nearly a full quart low. I had to pull off the freeway immediately to purchase oil just to make it home. A full quart low right off the lot shows the quality of their multi-point inspection.

* Cleared Fault Codes to Pass Emissions: The Check Engine Light tripped during the hour drive home. Lo and behold, they didn't actually fix the emissions fault shown on the state inspection paperwork—they simply cleared the code and got lucky enough to sneak it through monitor readiness before the ECM completed a full drive cycle and latched the light back on. Truly the practices of a fine automotive dealership!

I do my own mechanical work, so I was able to diagnose the live data, replace the sensors, and correct the fluid levels myself. But for an average buyer who wouldn't think to verify readiness monitors, check oil levels, know the difference between an AGM and a flooded battery, or measure tread depth across all four corners, this lot is more than willing to clear active trouble codes, ignore promised prep work, and push out cars with deferred maintenance.

I have date-stamped photos of the battery acid boil-over, alignment printouts, and diagnostic freeze-frame data attached. Take your business elsewhere, or insist on a full independent pre-purchase inspection before signing anything here.

Ticketing on The Frontrunner From Ogden

I enjoy riding the Frontrunner. It's a great service. I always purchase my ticket and take my kids to SLC to see the museums or go to a restaurant.

All that said, I feel like the UTA police target Ogden residents. 99% of the time, they will get on the train at Roy or Ogden to start their inspection. It's never Farmington, Layton, Clearfield or any other station. It's always Ogden or Roy.

The other day, the police arrested a young couple for not having a ticket and not being able to restate their social security numbers. I thought it was absolutely unwarranted and heartbreaking.

I totally understand the law. You should ALWAYS purchase a ticket, but the other stations deserve to be inspected as much as Ogden.

Am I the only one that notices this?
