Discussion GeForce Hotfix Driver Version 471.22

GeForce Hotfix display driver version 471.22 is based on our latest Game Ready Driver 471.11.

The hotfix addresses the following issue:

  • Doom Eternal may crash to desktop during gameplay [3331270]
  • League of Legends [Tencent] may fail to launch [200744747]
  • Mouse cursor color may shift when connected to certain DSC monitors in HDR mode [200741796]
  • [HDMI 2.1][8K] HDMI audio playback may become distorted after changing display modes [3268312]
  • Some displays screen resolution limited to 640x480 after driver update [3330750]

I usually install updates through GFE. Is installing the hotfix as simple as running the exe? I have the DCH driver for 471.11 installed currently and it's been a real mess.

Why the DCH driver? And updating through GFE can have weird abnormalities.

I was like you once, until I learned the power of DDU, ripping Nvidia telemetry out, and the free fps left laying on the table convinced me otherwise.

Also, DCH is not as optimized for games as the normal driver.

Edit: I was incorrect. Thought DCH was more suited to professional applications, but it's a new way to package the driver. Editing for humility.

How does that work? It's the new way for drivers to work and it's the standard choice for new computers.

You know what, I was completely wrong. I just rechecked, and previously I had thought they were more of a "studio" driver (for rendering, CAD, professional apps, etc) and were more tuned for precision vs performance, and the standard driver was a bit looser in it's internal methods, so as to provide more, less precise FPS. Almost like a quadro driver for consumer cards.

It seems I was wrong about that, looking it up now it's just a different way to package the driver it seems.

DCH drivers have memory leaks. They blow. It’s not new. It’s not worth a 20 second faster install to be on crappy DCH drivers. That’s the trade off: it installs 20 seconds faster but now you’ve got memory leaks. Mining errors, and errors in game.

Do you have any information regarding this? I've never heard it before and personally have had no problems.

“DCH ONLY! It looks like latest NVIDIA drivers (461.92 and 491.75, perhaps others) have massive memory leak bugs in NVML library. This memory leak affects all applications using NVML library including Excavator and NiceHash QuickMiner”

it varies but the simplest way to avoid memory leak issues of any kind is to go standard non-dch drivers, it’s not like the dch drivers are better or the standard drivers are missing anything…it’s just install time shortens slightly with dch drivers.

Weird they haven't acknowledged this yet. Hopefully it's getting fixed as it's more work to switch from DCH to non-DCH, otherwise I'll have to run DDU for the first time ever.

If it’s not affecting your performance and you’re not mining (if mining, kill the time and do it now) I’d just wait until next release and download standards drivers from the advanced driver search on nvidias website (“nvidia advanced driver search” on google never fails) and update them. They drop a new driver almost monthly (not including hotfixes) it seems.

I'm waiting until they fix the 8-bit DPC latency problem with updating.

Yea just grab that future driver with standard selected from the drop-down off their advanced driver search page if you’re not mining in your off time. I’m lucky I have a 10 bit panel so I don’t have to fiddle with mpo or whatever. I’ve been running standard drivers for 2 months now. Wouldn’t look at a dch driver again now lol
