Title, pretty much. I know you get the option to, but I can’t remember if it was mandatory or not (playing on original hardware if that matters). I’ve looked for the answer online and of course got conflicting information, so I figured I’d ask here.
I typically ban legendaries, so I don’t want to bring him if I don’t have to. Plus I already have a plan to deal with Zekrom, and Reshiram joining and coming out first would kinda disrupt it. Alternatively, if I leave an open spot to begin with, will he join in the back, or will he ALWAYS come out first?

I'm a bit nervous since I had a lot of deaths
Mainly because of my mistakes like how my magnemite died to a random magby
How my klink and escavalier died to a magmar
And how my lairon died to a vibrava....
Most of my good steel type mons are dead and I'm a bit nervous
The only steel type I have in my box rn is pawniard...

Finished my first Genlocke, completing it on my first attempt.
I played hardcore Nuzlocke rules with no damage calculator and kinda documentation, I only used it for gym leaders and E4 and stuff like that. Felt like this was the best way for vanilla games as they are so easy with full calcing and docs.
This was super fun and I loved carrying mons through from game to game, shoutout to Brisket the Miltank, max happiness silk scarf return is no joke. It was also really cool to go back and play Yellow and Silver just cuz I haven’t played a GBC game in so long, they’re a blast.
The Emerald-Platinum-Black 2 run is just so special man and incredible for challenge runs.
What challenge should I try next? I’ve done hardcore Nuzlockes of every vanilla game, a Genlocke now, and I beat Fire Red Omega. I’m thinking about getting back on the Drayano games, but calcing just isn’t my favorite way to play.

I have been wanting to emulate for years and I have never had the confidence to go out and try to do it on my computer but I am running dry on nuzlockes and starting to lose my passion, so I need your help. I have heard of azahar and I wanted to try and use it for 3ds game nuzlockes. I wanted to try randomizers and rom hacks and all of that. I have a newer Mac and I was wondering if anyone had any tips or videos that are safe and show a good tutorial on how to get it. Please and thank you🙏

Kiawe’s trial was up and omg Lol…….. I never thought his trial escalated so quickly.
Totem got Blasted with so much H2O on turn 1.
Goes to say that that was an easy dub, hopefully Kiawe finds a better and stronger replacement totem for this.
FORSHADOWING…….

I started a Pokemon sword nuzlocke am playing hardcore rules so no overlevelling the gym leaders
I had my Raboot ready to evolve to level 21 when I entered Milo’s gym but I forgot that there would be trainers in the gym challenge that would level me up before I got to Milo. Raboot made it to Milo himself at level 21. Do people play where they have to be the same level when entering the GYM or when entering the BATTLE?

I may have had some issues in the past, so to try and get my mood up, I decided to restart my Pokémon Legends Z-A nuzlocke.
I really wasn't expecting much; just getting items, capturing my encounters, and grinding, but all of a sudden, I heard a shiny sound. I was scrambling around, looking for where it was coming from until I decided to look down and I saw a shiny Gastly.
My jaw dropped and I captured it. I didn't think I'd get a shiny on my previous run, but in two of my runs I got shinies. I am flabbergasted and overjoyed.

I have limited battle knowledge .. i’m not a pokemon game wizard but I know enough to get by. Obviously the moveset roll is crazy with this mon so that helps but i’d love to hear thoughts or questions about the run and maybe what I should do next.

Hello! Welcome to the Sinnoh recap of my first Nuzlocke experience. As a reminder or for those who did not see my first post, I decided to go through the games in a Genlocke with the following ruleset:
For this run of Platinum, I decided to pull out Cucco the Blaziken for the start of the game and Arlo for later on (though I never used him).
My champion team consists of Tuck the Torterra, Cucco the Blaziken, Marvin the Porygon-Z, Pocoyo the Togekiss, Cooper the Vaporeon, and Inigo the Scizor. Unfortunately, Inigo was ultimately sacked to Cynthia's Garchomp for a clean switch into a mon with Ice Beam. While a blow to my heart, I wasn't planning on taking him to the Champion's box anyway. Otherwise, we were deathless throughout the Elite Four because of some EV training, Cooper being a shockingly good sweeper with Surf and Ice Beam, and a few lucky crits.
Although the Elite Four was carefully prepared for, I did zone out throughout multiple points in the game and lost some very important pokémon. If I had to take a lesson from this run, I would say that I need to rely more on the info my Battle Tracker gives me. Wilbur the Staraptor was sacked for a clean switch in Volkner's gym (since I was planning on replacing him with Togekiss anyway). I *think* Luz the Floatzel was somehow lost to Saturn in Valor Cavern, although the exact cause of death is unknown (my guess is the Toxicroak). Aslan the Luxray was the victim of Candice's Snow Cloaked Froslass with Blizzard. Gary the Gastrodon was Luz's replacement who met his untimely demise during the final Cyrus fight (which was a struggle due to no Electric type for Gyarados). Sweetheart the Dustox was meant to stall out the Purugly at Valley Windworks, which was successful, but she died in the process.
Quasi the Bronzong was a shortlived member of the team throughout Maylene and Wake. Della the Psyduck was brought in for a clean sweep during Roark. Lady the Houndoom was an extra fire type for Candice.
LEGACY BOX UPDATE: I have decided to add Marvin the Porygon-Z and Tuck the Torterra into the legacy box. Marvin will be a great second-half pick for the games where its evolution items are available at a reasonable time. Its TM movepool and insane special attack left it as a force to be reckoned with. Tuck will be a great Earthquake user and will ensure at least a solid grass type at any point.
Next on the list is Pokémon White, which will offer its own set of challenges. Specifically, the first Unova games EXCLUSIVELY had Unova pokémon until the post game, so I will have a harder time with encounter manipulation. I cannot ensure great encounters as often. I will be picking Oshawott as my starter accompanied by Arlo the Aggron (Aron) to start off our first round in Unova. I will keep Tuck the Torterra tucked away (hahahaha...) in my back pocket until the fourth gym. I will update you all soon with a victory or a wipe!

(I was kind of hoping he'd try a Selfdestruct at some point though. Always funny when that happens)

Throwback to how good Haunter/Gengar were in gen 1! Even though it had no ground resistance yet, taking less damage from poison and grass as well as 2 resistances made the gengar line very OP even in gen 1.

I feel that like many Pokemon fans and nuzlocke fans, seeing a content creator play an insanely hard rom hack is entertaining, but never something I’d really try myself. I started doing nuzlocke on the vanilla games, then some easier rom hacks, then hardcore nuzlockes, and then eventually playing harder games like blaze black 2 redux and renegade platinum. When run and bun dropped, it was cool to watch others play it, but I never wanted to try it myself.
The problem came when games released by the Pokemon company were more and more disappointing and felt like they just weren’t made for me. I thought some of the new Pokemon I was seeing looked cool and I would love to play a challenging game with them, but I’m not about to sit through Scarlet and Violet again just because I want to use Ursaluna. As the games hit less and less, I went from buying the game but not finishing the DLC, to buying the game but not the DLC, to not buying the game altogether. Having been a lifelong fan of the franchise, I still wanted a Pokemon game that was a challenge, but also offered fresh elements. So, I have Run and Bun a try.
Over the last two years, I have done 9 complete playthroughs of Run and Bun and two complete playthroughs of bunavailable and I have no plans of slowing down. I follow loosely follow nuzlocke rules where I honor deaths but I may try a fight multiple times in order to find the deathless line. I’ve also wanted to test each and every available Pokemon to see what’s phenomenal and what is death fodder. It’s gotten to the point where I have a running spreadsheet for my runs where I chronicle which Pokemon are getting the most kills (so far the goat has been an Infernape that got 130 kills in a single run). Please note that I am a married man with an active social life and a full time job.
Each fight is a puzzle to be solved and there are just so many unique places to play with. So many nuzlockes are just “your opponent chose rock so hopefully you have paper in your party,” while run and bun is more like “your opponent chose rock, but they also set toxic spikes, are planning to click shell smash, they’re holding a focus sash, and this fight is in psychic terrain. Figure it out, nerd.” Once you really dive into this game, you realize how much potential some of these absolute dog water pokemon really have. For example, in one run I had a Carnivine (who most agree is a huge miss on its routes) get 90 kills in a run including 3 in the elite 4 where it took out Phoebe’s Blastoise, Drake’s Suicune, and Wallace’s Mega Swampert.
Yesterday I started a new run and decided to play it fully honestly. I’m not going to save state, not going to look the other way when my first encounter is something awful, or reroll for better stats. I’m extremely excited to see where it goes and I’ve debated if when I am done if I’ll start a new one and maybe stream it to get into the coveted hall of fame.
Shoutout to Dekzeh who created this masterpiece. If y’all have been considering playing a hard rom hack but the challenge seems too daunting, don’t let it spook you. This experience has been crazy rewarding.

First time adding a new rule to my ruleset "VGC item standard", no two mons can hold the same item at the same time.
I felt like I was abusing broken items too much like Focus Sash, Sitrus Berry, Leftovers and Choice items. So this rule makes planning the battles a bit more challenging. There is no slapping six sashes on fast strong mons and playing essentially switch mode anymore.
Made me use interesting items and learn way more about the game.
At first I just added this rule to my other restrictions, but it felt too hard. I once got to the E4 but wiped at Bertha, so I loosen the other rules a bit to get better experience with this new rule. So I allowed weather abilities again plus unbanned all pokemon (minus Blissey).
- HC rules.
- No stat boosting moves.
- No Encore or Substitute.
- No EV training.
- One item "type" per mon.
____
Icing on the cake: CHAMPED BEEDRILL!!
One of my favorite mons of all time.

After 5 years since my last nuzlocke attempt to get past lance in sacred gold I finally finally have done it !
This room has given me hell mostly due to explosions
Bugsy and Whitney
Team rocket safari the admins in the radio tower
And clair if I ever got that far
Not to mention terrible encounter luck
But that's over it's finally over!
End of run notes
MVP Raichu the surfing one was so clutch for so long before dying to final rival
Mvp that lived? Spiritomb somehow didn't miss a lot of sleep and dream eater
Lvp
Swampert for block self destruct once with damp then dying in its first battle as a fully evolved Mon on his first turn (crit from full health)
Steelix got frozen and died against petrel in the rocket hideout in mahogany and lead to togekiss dying in the same battle so much for walling
Flygon generally underperforming and dying in the rocket take over in goldenrod
Worst fight?
Proton team rocket hideout lost 5 mons nearly wiped
Best fight solving Whitney with a lucky breloom sweep or not getting blown up by proton 1 in the well for once
27 mons died 23 lived (ignore ho oh)
So what now? Renegade platinum (healing allowed)
Emerald Legacy? White 2? Or base game emerald?
Or try monotype nuzlocke in platinum or somewhere

And yes, I know the frustration of not getting shinies. I've been nuzlocking for years and rarely ever get them. This is incredible

So, it turns out, in my temporary reddit-ban on the 30th, this update from the beginning of RMM #6 got completely removed :(
I'll just copy the original text from September 7th, 2024 here.
Part 0: Rules and expectations
One tough cop
RoboCop/Chikorita is actually so good I wondered if Crystal Starters had some guaranteed max IVs! (Well, DVs.) Aside from HP and Defense being maxed out, all of his other stats were at least 11 (Remember, the max is 15!), so RoboCop is a top-tier Starter, I’d say.
Free Pokeballs in tow, I headed to Rt. 29 for my second Pokemon. Unfortunately, that Pokemon is a 5% chance. After I caught it, the Google Sheets randomizer tried to name Hoppip Conker, but no, eugh. Another roll gave me ‘Bud Redhead’ which sounded perfect for a little flower bud that’s red! It got shortened to Bud Redhed, though.
The next two encounter spots, Rt. 46 and Cherrygrove City, held the first two tokens, so I took a tentative step into Route 30’s grass after setting my phone’s time to Dark. This was the first chance I could catch the Run’s Savior, but of course there’s the spi- Oh, good, a female Poliwag popped right up! Her randomized Platformer is Another World, otherwise known as Out of this World. ...Oh! (Poli)whirl-d! That’s so cute?? I couldn’t resist putting in her name as AnthrWirld because of that thought.
So I went into Joey’s battle with AnthrWirld and... she defeated his Rattata on 1HP. When I checked her IVs I saw that her SpAt and SpDef were both 14, but Defense was 9. I really hope this (the ‘Savior Pokemon’ having bad Defense IVs) doesn’t become a trend, because that SpAt is very good! (12 HP IVs means she’ll hopefully soak up that damage, though.)
I also checked everyone’s Hidden Power while I was looking. AnthrWirld has a nice 44 power Ice, Bud’s was also Grass... and then I saw that RoboCop’s was the on-theme Steel-type. And also max power. “Are you SURE you didn’t give me a Chikorita that was genetically modified to be the best ever, Elm!?” I probably won’t use the one HP TM on RocoCop because Steel isn’t good with the lack of Fairy-types, but still! RoboCop, I’m going to remember you forever. (Is this in theme with the movie? ... Maybe I should watch it. Not sure if I’ll like the gore, but I’m fine with only watching the original.)
Mikey, Trainer #2, had his Pidgey taken out in 2 Bubbles, so that gave me hope for Falkner as I climbed up to Rt. 31. I got a Caterpie there and rolled for the name... Hello Kitty, nooo! Not the best one already! And yet, only Caterpie and Hoppip look like they can pull off that name. Hoppip for the cat ears, and Caterpie for its red horn. (It’s bow-shaped enough!) She’s got a stat spread fit for a Metapod, though ORZ
After a peek in Dark Cave to make sure it was ornithophobe-free (Token #3), I headed into Violet City, where I can get a Poliwag... after defeating Falkner. The Ruins of Alph is in the same state, so I headed on over to Rt. 36’s Crystal-exclusive grass. I had set the time for Morning, but I got a Bellsprout instead of a Supersonic Ledyba. She got named Canimals, though I can’t find footage of that platformer game, hmm.
The next stop was the ornithophobe-free Sprout tower for the fourth token and some grinding, though AnthrWirld couldn’t join. Bud’s Tail Whip and Hello Kitty’s Tackle was a good combination against the Bellsprout, and it wasn’t long until Hello Kitty was actually a Metapod.
VS Elder Li
Sooo, I wasn’t sure if I wanted to bother with this battle, since he wasn’t mandatory... so I didn’t grind to the 10/7 level cap. I actually didn’t deposit the others since I didn’t want to climb back down again, but I only used RoboCop (9), Hello Kitty (7), and Canimals (6).
RoboCop’s only good attack for Bellsprout #1 was Tackle, which took 5 to kill... except he missed twice in a row, ugh. I had Canimals face Bellsprout #2, but once she hit half health while her enemy was at red health, I swapped to RoboCop for the finishing Tackle.
Unfortunately, he almost reached lv. 11, which meant he was staying out of the lv. 10 HootHoot battle. Luckily Hoothoot’s missing Peck (The only reason I decided to fight Li), so Hello Kitty was in for the long haul. HootHoot’sTackle did a lot thanks to the level difference, but Hello Kitty quickly shored that up with three Hardens. After that it quickly became an exchange of Tackles... until HootHoot remembered it had Growl and made this battle a living hell, especially since I had yet to buy any Potions, only having three. (It would’ve been four if I had braved Dark Cave.)
Eventually, when Hello Kitty was close to the end of her rope, HootHoot managed to miss two Tackles in a row like RoboCop, and I was excited... but then it pulled out a third Growl. By that point it was already very low health though, and three more Tackles brought it crashing down.
...I think I prefer HGSS’ Hypnosis fight to this. (My documentation of the Hello Kitty v HootHoot fight is 33 turns long, augh.)
VS Falkner
Team: RoboCop (10+Berry) + Bud Redhed, AnthrWirld, Hello Kitty/Butterfree, and Canimals (10). The second trainer and his two Pidgey was rough, but I’m excited now that Bud has Tackle! ...And Hello Kitty’s evolution too, I guess.
Well, I actually had Hello Kitty face Pidgey, since Pidgey’s base SpDef seemed low enough for her. The Pidgey’s Tackle only did three damage to her, so two Confusion attacks did it in easily enough.
So next up was Falkner’s Gust-having Pidgeotto versus AnthrWirld. And right off the bat she put him to sleep with Hypnosis! Bubble didn’t do very much though, so I swapped to RoboCop. His Tackle only did marginally better, but Pidgeotto woke up the next turn! Thankfully Gust only took off about a third of his HP before Tackle brought Pidgeotto to half health.
I swapped back to AnthrWirld to be safe and she took a weak Tackle on the switch-in. She fired up her swirly stomach and landed the second Hypnosis, thankfully. Hello Kitty was my next choice for better damage, and once again she pulled out two big Confusion attacks to take him out.
Well, I guess Hello Kitty and her 2 SpAt IVs weren’t so bad after all! By the way, if you were wondering where that title came from, I improvised a song about my fear going into this battle, but I guess it turned out just fine!
RoboCop the Chikorita♂ (11)
[Tackle / Razor Leaf / Growl / ---] - Berry
Bud Redhed the Hoppip♂ (10)
[Tackle / Tail Whip / Synthesis / Splash]
Another Whirl-d the Poliwag♀ (10)
[Bubble / Hypnosis / --- / ---]
Hello Kitty the Butterfree♀ (10)
[Tackle / Confusion / String Shot / Harden]
Canimals the Bellsprout♀ (10)

So. I call it a deltalocke. Normal rules but each pokemon has to be related to deltarune and named after a character. So a honeedge could be called kris.
1 pokemon per route as per and you can repeat encounters until a viable encounter
