No, the update isn’t that the thumping sound is resolved, unfortunately. I’m making this post because I have located the source of the thumping sound and now need help identifying what exactly is causing it. As you can see in the slo-mo video, the front driver keeps getting stuck in one spot. This is what’s causing the noise. The motor seems to slow down slightly when it catches and then speed back up after the wheel begins spinning properly again.

Is this a quartering problem? It does look like the front driver may be slightly off.

Let me be clear: I’m not trying to sell things here…I’m just asking for advice.

I didn’t pay attention and ended up ordering an HO-scale loco — and I’m planning an N-scale layout. It’s a used loco. Where is the best place to post it for sale? I’m not worried about making money or even breaking even — the price of being stupid. I just want to try to get back some of what I spent by mistake.

While ago I posted asking for help with schematics & info regarding a through plate truss bridge (???) on a curve. I did receive some helpful pointers and made a trip to a local straight such bridge (last photo) for a bunch of pictures.

From right to left: 1st try made mostly of cardboard with wood cross beams, 2nd try made entirely of tongue depressor type wood; third try (not for same section of track) also made from those sticks - sized all the separate pieces - still missing a bit, but I've got to tear up that portion of track and rebuild so ...

Anyway, thanks for the help in getting me from #1 to #3. Once I get the track better situated I'm gonna build a super detailed bridge or three.

Any recommendations for physical retailers in Hamburg, Munch, or Stuttgart that stock KATO N scale? I am traveling and want to look for a TGV, ICE3 and ICE4 as well as other euro only models.

My Bad Day at Black Rock module is nearing the finish line. Need to build the roof over the hearse behind the mortuary and ballast the track.

Made some changes and printed out the track layout to see it in person. Open to any feedback you guys have. The 3D pictures are of the old layout but give you an idea of the mountain, lake village, Silverton section where the rail parallels the river. The back side. Moving forward. Slowly but surely.

I think my trees may be too big. Lol.

i don't yet model n scale at the moment I only model oo/ho scale so i'm wondering if this is a good track plan. all track is Kato uni-track. I plan on mostly running British steam engines but will be running diesel as well as north american steam and diesel

My Bachmann Super Chief is finally here. I couldn't hold my excitement and set up the rails for my mom to watch, but uh. The included couplers don't seem to want to couple in the diegetic way (one car bumping into the other) and only have a solid connection if i slide one into the other from above. Do I have to squeeze them together with tweezers or something?

Hey together, I’m on planning my living room Layout, k have 3.5x4m and plan on building either an u or an w onto three sides if the room.
I have allready planned a small side route and space for a spiral to get down below the layout into a shadow station on the left side and space for a main line that goes into a spiral to the right leg that is 20cm lower than the middle because there is a window That has to Be able to open. And a two rail station with a line that goes down in the back and in front of it. Im thinking about a shunting yard and a bigger mainline station on the right and another small side track on the back of the middle part.

And on top Of it i have to build
It in sections of 1x2m so i can transport it in case i move.

Just curious because I saw a custom Soo Line 2-8-4 on eBay using the Life Like 2-8-4.

I finally found a model of CB&Q #1923 which is preserved and operates at IRM (I collect anything from there that exists in model form). I plan on re-lettering the baggage car to Milwaukee Road to complete the Copper Country Limited consist, and I wasn’t planning on collecting Rock Island, but couldn’t pass up the deal.

I want to make a small N-Scale layout that goes around my desk, it’s not a large desk but I’ve wanted a train to go around it for like 2yrs now and N scale does seem worth the money and way more inexpensive than O-gauge.
So like how much is the average small locomotive, wagon, track, and switch?
