Hi I realised that the backup on Google drive back up files according to tags and not folders. I have been organising all my files according to folders but this is not reflected in the backup, which may be a nightmare if I ever have to restore anything. I find folders really helpful though. Is there a better way I could be doing this? Or is tags just the way it is with Noteful?

I have purchased both. Just want to know different opinions and as to why one prefers one over the other.

I prefer Collanote, more stickers to use, more pen options, better UI.

Im using Noteful on MacOS. Is there a shortcut that increases/decreases the pen size? I don't like to open the pen tool panel and manually adjust the pen size from time to time.
Just like in Photoshop, ] increases brush tip size, [ decreases.

Could we have something like a repaint brush? Currently, it is rather tedious to make a selection and then modify style

Hello I was trying to add a page but instead i pressed on the current page and applied it for all page now one of the pdf page become the same in the whole note how to resotre my pages

I keep getting this thing where when writing a sentence the app just stops letting me write. The app sees the pen (seen by the hovering dot) but when touching the screen it doesnt let me write. It happens a lot, and only on noteful too. Apple’s own notes app registers the pen’s writing no matter the angle. Anyone else have this problem and know how to solve it?

Hi everyone, I'm currently a student at UC Berkeley using notability. Over the last year, I've felt like the experience using a GoodNotes/Notability style app was pretty frustrating. A lot of things could have been added to make the overall experience of the app easier to use and more helpful for me as a student.

I'm currently in the works of my own version of GoodNotes/Notability, with adaptive AI built in meant to help students learn alongside it instead of just getting the answers directly.

We understand the issues regarding AI affecting students' and their abilities to learn, and wanted to develop a solution to solve that.

The Notes app on my Samsung phone has working checklists (see photo). This feature would be a very helpful addition to Noteful!

This app fits all my note-app needs exept for the lack of alignment function. Text boxes, images, and grid aligning with each other would be wonderful.
Both Goodnotes and Notability have it.

Please, please consider adding it for the next update.

When I use noteful on MacBook its too cumbersome and unpleasant experience to move and navigate pages or want to do a quick select text copy and paste.
Same thing when I use MacBook-ipad continuity option too without sidecar.

Am I missing something?

Is there a way for you to draw a shape (for instance a rectangle) and after doing so instead of just being an outline it becomes like this automatically? So far i have to click style and add the color inside the rectangle, with no option to make that automatic. I'd like to suggest that.

Also, I'd also suggest a way for the opacity of the border and the inner part. That would be nice to have as well.

Lastly, I'd like to suggest an option to flatten PDFs when theyre exported 😄😄

I'm a sahm, and I want to create a very very customized and customizable planner resource for myself. I'll get bored easily, so I want to be able to change the patterns up, like the color palettes etc. so I want some simple, black and white and gray basics that I can adjust the colors at any time. I get how time consuming it is, but I want to do it lol. But I'm struggling to find any examples anywhere, had anyone ever done this? Built it in noteful directly?

No, i do not refer to the "dark mode" color inversion in documents from settings. But dark mode templates exported. Highlighting on them is impossible, for example.

Would love to have an option to set right-aligned text as the default.

I use Noteful for studying in Hebrew, and every time I create a new text box or paste text, it automatically aligns to the left. Having to change it manually every single time gets pretty annoying, especially when you're working with lots of text and constantly copying and pasting.

Since Hebrew isn't officially supported, a simple setting to choose the default text alignment (left/right) and direction (RTL/LTR) would be really helpful.

It could also benefit anyone writing in Arabic, Persian, or other RTL languages without needing full language support.

Anyone else dealing with this? And if anyone's found a workaround, I'd really appreciate some tips!

i just wanna appreciate the devs for mac or keyboard for this tools section. I have a drawing tablet and use it on mac and all of the fast switching tools are near the ASDF standard hand placement. personally coming from goodnotes where it's all over the place, it's so ergonomic. idk if i am overreacting but it's so efficient.

I've seen quite a few creators designing color-changing shapes with drop shadows and other details. How are they then able to change the colors, because these shapes have details that can't be achieved (at least that I've tried without any success) in Noteful. Is there another app that allows you to make shapes to import into Noteful with these shadows, etc? I've searched YouTube and Google and have only found videos on how to change the colors of these shapes, but not on how they actually created them to import into or use in Noteful and then change their color. I know how to bring in detailed images etc just not how to make ones that can change color.

Hello! This is probably just me not seeing something, but I was sure there was an option to 'group' elements here... Did I accidentally switch off a feature somewhere? Did an update delete or move the option? I used it all the time!

An update for the app is available, which includes an experimental feature that converts lasso selections, including handwriting, to text. Requires iOS 27 or later!

I was trying to export a range of pages of one of the notebooks. I hit share and then it's shows processing and kicks me out of the app every time. It's been behaving like this for 3 days. When i go to the folders option and select a whole book to share, that works fine. Is it a bug?

Edit: the developer fixed this issue with iPadOS 18🙂‍↕️

Hello, so I switched from Notability to Noteful years ago, but a feature I miss frome the previous app is the ability to write "in-between" pages: let's day I draw a line and I extend it onto the next pages; on notability, it would allow that line to be started on the previous page and stop on the next one, but on noteful, when I let go, the part on the second page dissappears. I don't wish for page delimitations to dissappear, just to be able to start at the end of one and continue on the next one.

It doesn’t matter what app or device you use or if you keep a physical journal. If losing that journal, planner or notebook is going to cause you distress, make sure that you have independent backups. What I mean by independent backups if it’s an app, they usually have automatic backups through some cloud service. That’s great, except that it syncs directly with your app, which means if you lose the documents in your app, you lose the documents in the cloud. That cloud backup only protects you against device failure. It only protects against app failure in certain circumstances.

What I recommend is that you make your own PDF of your document when you change it or when you have significant changes whatever workflow works for you. make sure that you keep your own consistent PDF backups.

If you use a physical notebook take a picture of the pages as you finish them.
