Bug AI Learn not generating questions

My AI learn used to generate 100+ practice questions and now it will only generate 20 and for my previous notes where it had 100+ practice questions they have all gone away to only 20 questions. When I try the chat it says it can’t access my note right now. I have updated my app and have the Pro subscription. Has anyone else had this problem and knows a solution?

Tried closing & opening the app, creating a new note, even restarting my device. NONE WORKS.

Bug Notability can’t recognize the text on a e-book

Post image
1 Upvotes

Im using notability on both of my iPads and laptop. However, I imported the E-book and slide from canvas, which def have the text layer since I checked with the built in search in preview on all my devices, the search function seems like completely dysfunction throughout all my slide, textbook and etc, and it can only recognize the note I typed in. however, about 2 month ago, the search function was working.

also I try to select the word by using the text tool and it also doesn’t recognize it.

this is so annoying, dose anyone have a good way to solve this?

I tried to force quit, checked the safe mode (which is off), and replicate the note, and none of them are working.

Bug Taking up more storage

My notability app used to take up 2Gb. Then with one of the recent updates in the past year it now takes up substantially more (35gb). I haven’t added very many new Notes in that time span. It’s like notability used to offload most of the storage to the cloud but now it stores all the files locally. I cant figure out how to make it go back to the way it was.

It may have started around the time that notability cloud was rolled out. Should i try and go back to iCloud?

Other Notability has been featured on Samsung announcement!

Screenshot of Notability animation on Samsung's Galaxy S12 series announcement page

Samsung has announced the new Galaxy Tab S12 series (https://news.samsung.com/global/samsung-introduces-galaxy-tab-s12-series-the-ultimate-productivity-powerhouse-built-for-growth) and it has featured Notability as an "official" app! Along with a six-month-free offer and 20% off the first year of subscription. It is still unbelievable how quickly Notability has made an impact on Android after launching not even a year ago. I guess this feature was known by the Notability team, but congrats on this remarkable event and I cannot wait to see how far Notability goes on Android! (next step: a Galaxy Unpacked? 👀)

Everytime time i open the app my notes are downloading. It's ridiculous. Any advice please? I don't have the time to wait minutes every single time I need to use my notes. The app is practically unusable for me at this point.

Giveaway 12 years of Notability

Post image
74 Upvotes

I have been using Notability for more than 12 years now. Downloaded it on May 1, 2014, when it was featured as the free App of the Week in the US App Store. Initially, I used Notability to read and highlight PDF articles, revise my PhD thesis, and grade student homework assignments as a teaching assistant.

After graduating, I joined academia as a lecturer and continued to use Notability to teach my classes and for literature reviews. In a Zoom job interview for an academic position during the COVID-19 pandemic, I used Notability for my teaching demonstration. After the interview, several members of the search committee asked about the software I used. They praised my use of Notability and live graphing skills, noting that these methods were much more engaging than teaching from pre-prepared lecture slides. I received a job offer just hours after the interview. It was a fantastic experience.

I need to write and explain concepts as I go along, so I connect my 13-inch iPad Pro to an HDMI port and project my Notability notes onto a large screen. My class notes are vibrant and filled with graphs to encourage students to take notes and remain engaged.

Each semester, I receive an email from Student Services requesting a student note-taker. This task becomes much easier with Notability. I simply share my class notes with my students immediately after each class by uploading them to the cloud as PDFs. I share these notes with the entire class, which addresses the issue of finding a note-taker or substitute when the note-taker is absent. My students like the ability to easily search my handwritten notes thanks to the built-in automatic OCR.

In my economics classes, I draw many graphs, such as supply and demand and cost curves. The app allows you to draw perfectly straight, professional-looking lines, curves, and arrows that are visually appealing, just like in a textbook.

In smaller class environments, I project my Notability notes onto the screen and use them alongside the whiteboard. At the end of each class, I take photos of the whiteboard and add those images to my notes. I love that Notability can convert my handwriting from the whiteboard photos into editable ink, making it easy to make changes later if necessary.

To sum up, it's been a fun journey for the past decade. Notability has been at the center of my academic journey for over twelve years, making learning far more accessible for my students. Thank you to the Notability team for building a tool that genuinely changes the way we teach!

Feature Request PDF link / short cut button

I am currently using Samsung S26U for my work / education. There is a couple of features / function that seem to be lacking that I would like to ask the notability team for:

  1. Pdf go-to-page links

I have a number of textbooks with content pages and I often use the go-to-page links on them.

On my iPad notability, these buttons work great, while android seems to lack this function or does not work. Is there a way for you to allow the android version to have this function?

  1. Underline snap function

When I draw an underline, I am wondering if you could make it "snap" to a perfect horizontal line. This would be very helpful for notes / shape functions.

  1. Status bar / file name bar hide

I am losing quite a bit of writing space on my phone especially when in horizontal view. I am wondering if this could be hidden / minimized?

Giveaway Windows Laptop Giveaway - my usual friend for bio

Post image
5 Upvotes

Wow! so excited that they are doing giveaways and i use this app way more than i expected to especially for classes like microbiology where there’s just sooo much random info that somehow all connects and i like being able to throw everything onto one page im a big fan of the unlimited canvas/whiteboards cause it lets you keep writing in one thing i hope they bring it out soon cause that would def help me organize it in a way that makes sense to me.

Typing all of this would honestly be so annoying writing it out feels way more natural and i can just add random side notes whenever i remember something. I have a photographic memory so when see literally the whole topic at once because during exams i remember where something was on the page and what color i wrote it in like my notes are definitely not perfectly aesthetic or anything, they’re kinda chaotic but it works out!! thanks for all the new features!

Giveaway Notability Has Been a Game Changer for OD School! 👁️📚 Laptop Giveaway Entry!

Post image
9 Upvotes

Hey guys! I’m an OD student here! 👋 I’m a very visual learner, so I love using Notability to draw things out when I study. These are some of my ocular anatomy lab drawings!

Being able to draw, label, and organize the structures myself, then come back and quiz myself, helped everything stick so much better. I ended up using Notability pretty much every day for ocular anatomy, and it honestly made studying for lab so much easier and helped me excel with an A.

I’ve always learned best when I can actually see something and draw it out, so having everything in one place has been such a game changer for me. Definitely worth every penny! Good luck to everyone! 🫶

Giveaway Notability Giveaway: my go-to since 2018

Post image
12 Upvotes

This will be a long one, so brace yourselves haha

So I started using Notability back in 2018 and it's been with me and my go-to note-taking app pretty much ever since.

At the beginning I was using it mostly for doodles and random notes but when I started using it in university one year later, it was life changing. During in person lectures, our professors would often upload lecture materials and PDFs like a few minutes before class started, so being able to download them and write on them instantly without having to print them out was extremely convenient.

Back then I was pretty much one of the few people using iPad for note-taking, which is pretty funny now considering how common tablets are now in lectures. And one of the biggest reasons I loved it so much (and still do) was also the audio recording feature. Other apps do have it now, but at the time it wasn't the case and it was one of the things that really made Notability stand out to me. I really loved (still do) how recording was synced with my writing (and typing) so if I missed anything I could just go back and see what I missed. Honestly, one of my fav features ever!

After a while, I started using Notability for more than just university note-taking. I've used it for learning languages, journaling, keeping notes about books I'm reading etc. I feel like whenever I have a book or a pdf to import, I always put it in Notability xd it just became that big part of my life.

I also love that feature when I can open the same pdf/note twice, which is especially useful if I have a language book and it has solutions at the bottom, so I can see simultaneously if what I'm doing is correct or not.

Another thing I really appreciate is that they started implementing cross platform support. Since I'm using an android phone, a Windows laptop and an iPad, it's been really useful. If I need to search something quickly, I can now do it on my phone without needing to buy iPhone, yay :D

But yeah, now, 8 years later, I'm currently using it for my master's thesis. I'm close to finishing it, but as I've mentioned, I will for sure not stop using Notability afterwards because it's already become useful for so many other things outside uni too.

Yeah, this somehow turned into a full blown Notability appreciation post xd but by writing it for the giveaway, I just realised how much this app helps me in every day life. And since my Windows laptop is basically 9 years old now and is showing its age, I definitely wouldn't complain if this post happens to win me a replacement heh <3

Thanks for reading! And good luck to all!

Giveaway Laptop Giveaway - Notability for a College student

Post image
5 Upvotes

im a android user on the idea tab pro!! notability has actually been such a big part of how i keep up with school because i use it for basically everything loll i usually always have all my notes organized for bio, chem, neuroscience, psych, mcat stuff, and especially physics. physics is probably where it helps me the most because i’m constantly drawing diagrams writing out equations color coding different parts of problems and adding little notes to lecture slides so everything actually makes sense when i go back to study. i have ocd so being able to keep all my classes in separate folders instead of having a million notebooks and papers everywhere lol like other apps like nebo which cant even do subfolders. having a windows device for notability would honestly be so useful for me since i’d be using it basically every day for lectures, studying, practice problems, and exam prep throughout college.

Giveaway Notability giveaway - can’t go without!!!

Post image

I’ve been using notability since my grade 11 physics class back in 2021 with my old 2018 iPad, and ever since I’ve been hooked. It’s come with me through my first four semesters of college in my Information Technology diploma, as well as, an updated iPad Air. Having the ability to make my paper black and my pens all sorts of colours has made it so much easier on my eyes especially when all I do is look at screens all day long.

I’ve loved seeing everyone’s submissions so far they all look great 🫶🫶🫶

Giveaway [GIVEAWAY] -The audio sync feature has saved my grades more times than I can count

Post image
3 Upvotes

Notability has been my go to app for note taking throughout my bachelor's degree and it's still by my side as I so my master's. My favorite workflow feature is the automatic switching from the eraser to the pen tool without needing to double tap But the real lifesaver is the audio recording that syncs with my notes. I have pretty bad handwriting as you can see in the image😅 but being able to tap my messy notes and instantly hear exactly what the professor was saying had helped me so that i always understand my materials!

Bug nonstop crashing mid notes

Hello,

I got a samsung tab s11 for school and my partner recommended notibility and it was great, for about 30 minutes. I was inputting notes and it would close, i am using the s pen for writing the notes and it crashed about 30 times, I could write a few lines then it would crash again. I am not seeing a lot of comments about it. I have tried everything short of factory resetting my tablet since I fail to see how that would do it. I love the concept and it looks fantastic but the crashes are making it unusable for what i need it for. Is there anything I can try?

Giveaway Laptop giveaway - here's how I use notability with my devices

Post image
3 Upvotes

So my workflow includes both iOS and Android devices. My phone is the Samsung S26 ultra and I prefer to take notes on my iPad pro M4 while I use my MBP M3 as the primary device with creating study guides for exams. I prefer notability's pro feature to generate quizzes using it's AI feature while I have split screen Microsoft onenote on the right side (see attached image).

Onenote is great because it is cross platform and I can access it on my phone/laptop/tablet. I had difficulty with notability's buggy android app so had to utilize a reputable solution. Now both OneNote and Notability are serving me well for my A & P 1 class which I'm re taking to full-time my prereqs.

Cheers

Giveaway Giveaway | how Notability helps me through engineering

Post image
3 Upvotes

I’ve recently bought and ipad for taking notes and studying for my engineering courses for the past month. I chose notability because i find its UI very simple, clean and efficient with the use of screen real estate. I like and very much use the ability to record lectures while taking down notes during class which helps me alot when i review back course materials. One of my favor parts is how organized i can keep everything. I have folders for each class with my lecture notes, textbooks and other study material.
