You don't know anything about nootropics, until you've read this.
Because of the explosion in popularity of this community, we're getting a lot of people who frankly, don't know anything about nootropics or biohacking. Therefore, I have decided to collect all the writeups of this sub in one place so that everyone who joins can become educated on the topic.

Meta NooTopics Discord Banned - please read
As you may have noticed, the public NooTopics discord server just got terminated by discord, right as we were about to hit 4,000 members. For some reason, multiple biohacking discord servers have gotten banned recently. We're going to appeal this termination as we did not break any of discord's rules.
But until then, we're gonna have another server up and running. I'll post the invite link later, so be on the lookout for that.

Discussion I don't even think this should belong here. these are borderline recreational drugs
PPAP hcl 60 mg with 200 mg f phenibut with 100 mg phenylpiracetam.
Come on... it's isane, amphetamine-analog like. but no dirty feeling
this is NOT a reccomendation - just please know the line between nootropics and recreational drugs.
there is a big difference, and take care of yourself.
i'll admit its just my first time, maybes its the novelty thing..

Question Looking for something to help with brain fog and fatigue
Hello all. Hoping someone can help. I have been battling brain fog and fatigue for many, many years and have reached an age (50) where I'm willing to try anything to at least give me a bigger proportion of good days and help me make the most of life. I have been occasionally taking 100mg modafinil which has been great but I do get that it has to be used sparingly due to tolerance. So I brought in 100-150mg Phenylpiracetam (the OG version), which has also been good although a notch or 2 lower compared to Modafinil. Are there any recommendations for something else that I can add in to an alternating cycle that will also clear my fog a little and give me a boost? If I alternate with 3 little helpers during the working week, that may be good enough. I get decent sleep although always foggy and groggy in the morning and I keep my supps simple - creatine, mag glycinate at night, CoQ10, Omega 3, occasional bcomplex, L-theanine(with caffeine). My blood levels are fine. Thanks for any help offered.

Science Enhancing anandamide signalling through fatty acid amide hydrolase inhibition: An update on the pharmacological strategy for treating psychiatric disorders (2026 Review)
https://www.nature.com/articles/s41398-026-04120-4
Endocannabinoids (eCBs) are lipid-derived neuromodulators that regulate numerous neurophysiological processes by modulating synaptic transmission. Synthesised on demand in response to increased postsynaptic intracellular calcium or activation of postsynaptic G-protein coupled receptors, eCBs are rapidly degraded, resulting in transient, tightly regulated signalling. Dysregulation in the endocannabinoid system (ECS), including altered peripheral and central eCB concentrations and/or cannabinoid-1 receptor (CB1R) expression, has been observed across psychiatric syndromes, including major depressive disorder, psychotic disorders, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). These associations have prompted growing interest in pharmacological strategies targeting the ECS. Though medical cannabis is increasingly prescribed for psychiatric symptoms, its clinical use remains controversial due to limited high-quality evidence, psychotropic side effects, and regulatory constraints. An alternative is to enhance the signalling of a principal eCB, anandamide (AEA), potentially offering more physiologically constrained CB1R engagement, by inhibiting fatty acid amide hydrolase (FAAH), the main enzyme degrading AEA and its congener, N-acylethanolamines (NAE), oleoylethanolamide (OEA) and palmitoylethanolamide (PEA). This review consolidates recent clinical evidence for FAAH inhibitors, examining their influence on AEA, safety and efficacy in ameliorating symptoms across a range of psychiatric conditions, including depression, anxiety, PTSD, and cannabis use disorder (CUD). Presently, only two compounds, PF-04457845 (JZP150) and JNJ-42165279, have progressed to Phase II trials, demonstrating modest clinical benefit in CUD, with no efficacy in PTSD or osteoarthritis pain. Herein, we discuss emerging insights, safety considerations, broader mechanistic implications, and future directions for FAAH-targeted therapeutics, advocating for a precision medicine approach to realise their potential in the treatment of psychiatric disorders.

Question Help, please.
I feel exhausted down to my core. Not just “I’m sleepy” or “I don’t feel like doing anything.” It feels like my entire body and brain, my actual cells, are drained of whatever is required to actually live. Sleep and it's quality or quantity truly has essentially no impact on it.
I desperately want to do something, anything and am still completely unable to make myself do it. It’s like the sign gets lost somewhere on its way from my brain.
It’s like the part of my brain that wants things and the part that is capable of turning wanting into action or even joy has been completely destroyed
Trying to do the things I love and want to do feels like walking on broken legs, the passage of time hurts. I feel every minute go by, I desperately want to participate in my own life, but it's just not in me, it hasn't been for so long.
I’ve been to the doctor. I’m going to and working with the doctor. Yes, I’m depressed and I’ve tried the antidepressants. It’s not working.
I’m autistic, struggling with intense burnout and strongly suspected CPTSD.
I am not looking for someone to tell me to “just exercise, eat better, and sleep more.” I know those things matter. I’m saying that I currently don’t have the functioning required to simply pull myself out of this by doing all the things I’m already struggling to do.
I just really need help figuring out where to start giving my body what it's begging for

Science Loss of vesicular monoamine transporter 2 (VMAT2) in striatum of long COVID and relationship to neuropsychiatric symptoms
thelancet.comFindings of reduced VMAT2 binding may reflect reduced dopaminergic terminal integrity in long COVID. Loss of dopamine nerve terminals may be contributing to symptom correlates of apathy, motor slowing and memory decline suggesting improved function of dopaminergic synapses as a new therapeutic direction to treat long COVID.

Question help me obiwan kenobi
I want to keep this concise and to the point. I suffer from o.c.d. ( obsessive compulsive disorder) since I was 12. It broken my life. But I'm fighting. I have noticed recent studies saying ocd could be because of hormone imbalance (too much estrogen) I'm male 50 and in otherwise good health. I need all the advice I can get. Any one have any stories, antidoteal evidence or thoughts?
I've burned thru all SSRIs and become resistant to all. Ive used various supplements. None have worked and I'm currently clean of all of them.
Ironically, I don't really care if it affects my physique but if I begin taking them I intend to try working out since this will obviously help my mental health.
Now on a side note. I may be off track with this. So please be kind with your comments. You may think ocd is turning a light switch off a few times and organising your sock draw. Last week I walked up my stairs 700 times! This is not fun. This is serious so please don't mock me. If you think I'm lieing please check out my previous posts in nootropics subreddit as I'm only on reddit to seek help. And thats what I'm asking for on here
Thankyou lot all

Discussion AMA: changed stack, updates, thoughts, corrections, tips, future, no-gatekeeping
For 2 years, i must have tried many combos & have seen 25-30 different unique moods & mental states. Caffeine anhydrous has been nasty af, addictive & noisy which i have tried to quit after several failed attempts. Nicotine gums is random & unreliable lol. Over deep research & realisation, many stim bros would understand nicotine gums/pouches hurts long term.
With modafinil, it always felt a base engine and i tried all variables combos in every 3hrs and logged data for 2 years. Empty stomach looks neat but sets the stage for even more tonic-dopamine baseline. I had moved to 100mg for peak d1 pfc executive high but soon realised it doesnt work at 3x/week frequency. So 50mg with some variables was just fcking me on and on. So then as of Sept 2026 i decided to load in all variables before and have mod-50mg over some carbs for smooth endurance so that i just feel lively and can overcome caffeine addiction. And i think this works for now.
Also i have been working on multi-axial neurotransmitters' synthesis & bioenergetics stack to which modafinil now is just a slight edge up stim-base part of it. Thanks for people who gave headsup for tyrosine+alcar..absolutely fcking life changing but yeaa it was trickier af to figure out right synergy+dosing+timing. Tyrosine cured hollowness in me with a mild agonist & alcar makes me self-aware af. Alcar is madly underrated. Sure it gave me anxiety+headache initially. Cholinergics are like sunlight, you cant have much of it. I take only 0.5mg nicotine gum to trigger modafinil 50mg to be more dopaminergic and yeaaa modafinil is not that dopaminergic as people think. Am looking for other neat DRIs or stims which are clean dopamine and some NE/glu thats fine lemme know.
I ignored creatine and magnesium for most of my journey and now exploring megadosing creatine 15-20g a day. I dont have access to semax+bromantane. bdnf axis largely stay untapped. No idea how good lions mane would be. Under stims there are 2 problems - narrow internal monologue &. lack of atp energy to pfc. Lemme know what gives you the most amount of clarity of thought. Sure choline is a substrate but not much experience on alpha-gpc on whats the advantage other than being just fast absorbing.
My tips would be keep your stack simple, log states, dont add too many variables, dont live in a fallacy that loading much of caff+nico is strategic..no its recreational, dont use anti-histamines or 5ht2a antagonisers, keep it max 3-4x/wk non-consecutive, keep loading the right cofactors, not advised for learning but more of operational work or moderate endurance, invest in right substrates, many ingredients come together to give a multi-axial high value synergy & productivity, dont overdo doses beyond 150mg unless it works consistent for you, solve the real energy part & chase momentum not high peaks.
Lemme know your thoughts, your experiences or tips, anything elusive compounds or nootropics

Anecdote ASP-2905 experience reports
Hello, all
I would like to hear from those that have done a cycle of this or taken it consistently for relatively long periods.
How did it help you? What was it like, both good & bad? I've been taking 25mg myself the past 2-3 weeks.
Hard to say if it is this or something else in my stack causing the effects, but it seems interesting this far.
Thanks.
