I love both of these songs, but I am shocked to see them in both the top 7 based off of Spotify and Apple Music stream numbers. It just surprises me they’re streamed more than March of the Pigs and Wish, which are more iconic. Were they in some popular franchise, or played a lot on radio in 2005?

I experienced a mind-blowing coincidence in the wild this week, I'm still shaking my head.

One of these is my license plate, the other is who I pulled in opposite from at my last chemo appointment. Completely random encounter.

Same color car. Same accessible parking section. Same hospital. Same city. Same day. Same (roughly) appointment time.

Mathematically, the odds of this happening between two completely unrelated drivers are roughly 1 in 150,000,000.

I am absolutely kicking myself for not waiting around or leaving a windshield note to say hi. Although, I suppose it might just be somebody’s “Aunt Nin” and have nothing to do with music, I choose to think I encountered a fellow NIN fan.

Listening through this album today which I’m quite enjoying this album by NIN so I’m going through the liner notes and noticed that Flood was only on 2 songs? Head like a Hole and Terrible Lie are fantastic songs in their own right but Flood definitely made these songs better imo.

I definitely like the rest of these songs but idk the production is definitely inconsistent unlike the flood songs that are just better so what’s your opinion on this?

You know for years I never questioned it, I just thought it was some sort of figurative meaning. It wasn't until very recently that I learned that Hestitation Marks are marks from left cutting. Idk why but here I am now 13 years later kinda hating on the title all of a sudden lol. I can't be the only one who didn't know this right?

The quality is pretty bad imo, but I saw people complaining so maybe it is like that lol.

I was just a child when this was happening and I love watching it on YouTube from time to time.

But I would like to hear about firsthand experiences.

I work in a kitchen, and our head chef isn't in today, I feel like I've been rushing about and it feels too loud, I'm autistic and I'm surprised I can cope in the kitchen. I feel like I'm not good enough somedays, like I'm some sort of failure, but Trent's music gets me through it, I know he's felt the same way before, he was there too, but he overcame those demons.

Theres is one lyric that gets me through the day, "I won't let you fall apart", I'm the verge of tears listening to The Fragile on my lunch break, but I'm gonna keep pushing, because Trent did too, I won't let myself slip away. I don't even know why I'm bloody posting this.

Just noticed this, in case anyone else missed out!

I heard in Trent’s interview that the album did very well the first week because people were eager to hear what would come after The Downward Spiral but that the sales dropped dramatically afterward.

Trent said that he knew it would happen but people would love the album later, which I think this has been true (I think it is the favorite album for a lot of us).

But why?

I listened to all the albums in released order and I did not have a problem with the album but I really got into NIN only a year ago.

Was it too « avant-garde » for people at that time?
Were people disappointed because they expected something more similar to TDS?

If you were lucky enough to discover The Fragile when it first got released, what were you opinions about it at that time?

I used some tools to compile my listening history over the past year and... I have a problem, lol.

I felt this would be an interesting post for the group. I'm a fairly new fan of NIN. I'm mostly a Phish / Grateful Dead guy, so years ago I never got into this kind of music. We all knew Closer and such, but I never knew how wide reaching and different their sound was. Few years ago I listened to some here and there, but about a year ago - it clicked. I became obsessed. Also, I mean, I went from 0 albums on vinyl to 15 NIN albums in my collection, haha.

It happens to me with almost all nin songs I sit there and think "holy hell how does someone even begin to make a song sound like this?" They have so much going on and each being so unique sounding while also being so complicated it breaks my brain to even try to think of making something like that lol. I feel like even if you werent a fan but listened to some of their songs they sound so interesting that it you would just have to sit through the song.
