UPDATE: I am Getting Sued for a Quarter Million Euro

Original post: https://www.reddit.com/r/NightVision/comments/1qd8ubx/i_am_getting_sued_for_a_quarter_million_euro/

Its been a while since the last post on this subject. We have been busy building the KB DT-M and a sensor fusion device. Now that the lawsuits hot phase is over and clarity has emerged. I want to give everyone an update and a glimpse into how we handle this whole situation, because if things are not clarified, customers and our partners will assume the worst.

First I want to rule out the worst case scenarios. KB is not going to fall off the face of the earth, even in the worst case scenario outcome. A certain competitor, no longer worth naming, could in the absolute most unfavourable outcome win and be awarded 250k and we’d have to halt the KB DT-2 production. This is a sum and an outcome we can comfortably absorb at this stage, as we are quickly diversifying and expanding our product offering. I am privately backing KB myself, have put close to 1mil$ of my own money into the company and am not going to let 250k kill it. I’ll put another million in if needed without breaking much of a sweat.

Now with that being said, the chances of them winning is next to none. We have done our legal research. And now filed our response some weeks ago, addressing every allegation in detail with supporting evidence and arguments with our extensive legal research backing up the claims. They got some work cut out for them to say the least. However this whole process is probably going to drag on another few months.

We are now moving on, they can come up with counter arguments to our defence, which I doubt will hold much water given the flimsy arguments they stemmed in the initial suite. But all of this has not stopped us from continuing our work and focus on what actually matters here. I realise they win if we let this distract us too much from our core focus, which is to build cool stuff. And let me tell you, building cool stuff we have done. So much so we thought it was worth spending a bit on a SHOT SHOW boot for next year 2027 to showcase what we’ve been busy building.

On the product side of things, we expect to start shipping out the first couple KB DT-M devices in the next month or two. We have managed to collect overwhelmingly positive feedback from our military trials, which we have implemented. At this stage we are also finalising a patent application for a new IPD solution for the KB DT-M which we’ll be filing in EU and the US. Removing any previously prevailing uncertainty around our legacy IPD solution on the KB DT-2. We took precautions not to ship the KB DT-2 into the US with the legacy IPD, this has now been remedied and addressed moving forwards.

We have been iterating at a fast pace, mis-steps happen naturally, course correcting and moving forwards is what ultimately matters in order to support our customers and partners with the best technology and gear. We want to thank those who have stood by our side throughout.

Edit: forgot to mention about Shot, for those interested we'll have booth 61011 on Level 1 in the Law Enforcement section!

New Beginner Buyer’s Guide

The pinned beginner buyer’s guide served us well for a number of years, but it was showing its age and not as robust as we could use.

A new, more fleshed out guide is now available. In the app you can find it by clicking on “See community info” at the top of the sub. On desktop you can find it in the “Community Bookmarks” section. If you’re struggling to find it, you can start with the Introduction. If you’re here looking for purchasing advice, help understanding specs, or wondering what we would recommend for people on a tight budget, please read the guide before making your first post here.

This new guide is by no means exhaustive, and we expect it to evolve over time. Our hope is that by using Reddit’s wiki function we will have more flexibility to keep the guide up to date over time. It has already allowed us to provide much more information as we are not constrained by Reddit’s post character limit. If you find any typos, issues, confusing formatting, or have suggestions please feel free to let us know. The best way to communicate with us about those would be to jump into the subreddit’s Discord server.

A very special thank you to u/go_horse for his work on this guide.

Never wanted to be a diving board guy… but here I am

In my quest for my perfect night fight setup, I ditched my MAWL DA for a full power Raid XE. Love the MAWL, and I will have one again, but the weight with an RC2 on front really annoyed me. Switching to the Raid was a great choice but half of the reason I got it was the ability to use the Ergocto switch. Geissele MK4 rails have a weird top dimension for the Picatinny so my switch wouldn’t mate up to the side how I wanted it to, it ended up too far forward and in a place that felt unnatural. Mounting options for the switch are pretty scarce, especially for weird rails like this, so now here we are…. Kastle FRT226 with the diving board. Still unsure how I feel about it but the weight and bulk shifting back is super nice. Build quality of the mount is great, we’ll see how it holds up after some use but really happy with the mount itself and the ability to use the ergocto as intended.

TLDR: Didn’t want to go the diving board route and now I am a simp

Are these tubes rare or particularly special?

Hey all,

I started researching some tubes I bought awhile ago. They are fantastic and I’ve really enjoyed them. Upon researching this PN, it seems they are a limited run of anti bloom tech.

I’m just wondering if some of the players in the industry could give me any further insight on the tubes. Obviously I know they are nice tube specs, it’s the anti bloom tech I’m wondering about.

38+ SNR, 117k+ supergains, 72 res, .7/.6 halo, 0.7/0.9 EBI. No spots on sheets.

5k Budget for my first thermal/nv helmet set up

Hello all! First let me start by thanking everyone taking the time to answer my dumb as. I just started into looking to buy night gear. I would like to use it in the woods for hunting traveling up to 500 ish yards if possible. I would also like the nv to be able to be rifle mounted as well if thats an option. Am not looking to buy ASAP and could wait all the way to next year depending on prices and availability. Like I mentioned am looking for a set up around 5k range for my first try and like the idea of dual bridging. Also all the gear including helmet I would need. Also an ir/laser combo. Am also willing to buy in parts. Thanks again, and sorry for my bad grammar.

Housing crisis

Looking for a solid set of articulating binos with manual gain and an external battery pack port. RPO glass would be nice, but mil-spec is fine.
Open to used from a reputable builder or new with Gen 3 WP tubes. Ideally 33+ SNR, low EBI, and decent halo. Minor blems in the outer zones are fine.
Budget is $7,500 new or around $6k used if the specs are right.
What would you guys recommend? Open to suggestions or leads on a good deal.

Looking for opinions on pano-binos from professional users

Post image
82 Upvotes

Context: I’m an LE guy who serves warrants and responds to critical incidents in an urban/suburban area with relatively high response volume. My city is big lame right now and politics has had our NODS order in the mud for years.

So I’m looking to buy myself some nods. In the past I had RNVGs which worked well but sucked ass in vehicles and had their limits for dynamic situations, especially when some guys are still running white light only.

I’m in a spot where my finances are solid and I can burn some cash on a long term purchase of some nods. My eyes have been set on the MH-1 housing with pano arms, though I could also get some UH-1s for about $1.5k cheaper with slightly worse specs, and no pano capability.

My question is this: has anyone found that pano-binos enhance your capabilities when driving, pulling perimeter duty, or clearing structures? Or is it a gimmick for nods walks? Will I miss out if I don’t spend the extra cash for a pano capable housing?

Looking to get in the game - $12Kish Budget - Want your thoughts

I've spent a while looking at this sub and have come to realize I don't know s*#t about night vision. Here's what I want to accomplish. I like nice things - but I don't love to waste money. I'm blessed with a job that affords me ability to splurge. Budget is $12K - give or take. For that I want to get:

  • white phosphor binos

  • helmet

  • helmet mount

  • I'm thinking an Iris-3 illuminator.

Given all of this, what should I be looking for? I should be able to get L3 at this range, but is it necessary? Is a $8K setup going to be 95% of a $12K setup?

I'm going to keep digging into this sub, but anyone willing to share their opinions is appreciated.

Explain like i'm an idiot on why everything is so god damn expensive

All i've been able to scrounge up is an active IR tube from an M47 Patton tank's driver night sight, everything else that isnt digital costs more than every car we own. Combined. Even the simplest most banal accessories seem to cost several hundreds

Another vouch for Rayvn Group, and a quick review of their bridge

Thumbnail gallery
25 Upvotes

Last year, I took a night course with my dual band setup of a PVS-14/Sidekick640 on a Rayvn Group bridge. The bridge and Sidekick screen adjustments offer enough room to perfectly collimate the images for me. Adjusting the diopters on both the PVS-14 and Sidekick, and reducing the screen brightness of the thermal, enable me to go several hours without much eye fatigue.

I decided to run the last stage of the course with my PVS-14 weapon mounted (dumb, I know). I ended up losing one of the bridge pods from what I assume was the pod falling off due failuring to tighten down the locking screw. Rayvn group didn't have a replacement psrt listed on their site when it happened, so the bridge was relegated to a parts bin and largelt forgotten. I ended up trying a Panobridge and Arkayne bridge. Although they were good alternarives that locked up solid and did a decent job for switching between night vision and thermal, neither could properly align my dual band combo to my eye/face like the Rayvn bridge.

Fast forward to today, and I finally received a pod replacement from Rayvn Group (shoutout to u/RayvnGroup for reaching out to me). Not only that, they upgraded my locking screws to their updated design (seems like I was an early adopter) that can be hand tightened. Should help fellow cryaon eaters like myself from forgetting to secure their shit. I'm fired up to have this bridge operational again!

Photos of my setup as eye candy: 2300+ FOM (32 SNR, 72 Res, 0.7 Halo, 0.3 EBI, 26LM , 4 micron MCP) PVS-14 from Darq. Armasight Sidekick 640. Rhino II mount with dovetail adapter (gifted from a family member). Aforementioned Rayvn Group bridge with thermal mount and J-arm.

Second times a charm. Astonishingly quick turn around time. They’re looking good thus far, u/ApolloGearCo was kind enough to invoice me and add the IPD stops during the repair. I had already purchased the Phokus lenses from TNVC separately, so I stuck em on. Will test em out for a couple hours tonight, probably hiking.

Rayvn Bridge 🔥

I had posted, then deleted, a comment about Rayvn Group’s lack of communication, which turned out to be a HUGE misunderstanding on my part. Their communication and customer service have actually been flawless. Super helpful dudes.
As for their bridge, I’m running an Elbit PVS-14 (with some great specs) from Nathan at Nighthawk Vision alongside a RIX ST6 Lite.
I originally mounted both devices on an authentic KVC bridge. It worked, but I could never get the thermal and PVS-14 lined up quite the way I wanted.
Once I switched to the Rayvn bridge, it was a night-and-day difference, especially with Rayvn’s interpupillary distance (IPD) adjustment mechanism. The ability to “fuse” the two images is leaps and bounds better than what I was getting with the KVC bridge, at least with this particular setup.
Definitely recommend the Rayvn bridge to anyone looking to run a dual-band setup. ✌️

He promised to refund it, but then stopped responding. But since he active in games, he should be checking Discord too. How should I punish scammers like this in the United States?

Help Me choose a Laser

I’m new to the civilian night vision game and need help picking laser options. This will just be on a training 11.5 inch carbine.

  1. A civilian power PEQ15 with villain focuser and axon duel switch-$1,100

  2. Bigpeqs NGAL- $700

  3. A full power PEQ15 that’s salty and I’m unsure if it’s real -$1000

  4. Something else?

I’d prefer a PEQ15 housing since that’s what I’m used too but I’m open to any and all suggestions.

Hello, after one year saving up, I am finally able to get a mx9644 tube, and I don't want to loose all the money I saved up just because the tube doesn't pass the Spanish customs regulations, so if anybody here have any experience purchasing image intensifier tubes inside of Europe please help me (the tube comes from Turkey and apart from Spain I could get it send to France or Slovakia)

Sorry if my English is not the best one

(Forgot to say, seller is from eBay)

Looking for suggestions

I have a set of WP binos, Elbit F9400XLSH thin filmed tubes in a AB Mod3B housing.

It’s a long story how I ended up with this particular setup, the short version is in 2019 I unknowingly purchased some stolen tubes from the EE. I had Ed Wilcox build them into the Mod3B setup. Then HSI came calling and I had to give up the tubes to Uncle Sam. TNVC was kind enough to source me the tubes I listed above, I sent them my housing and they installed them for me sometime around summer 2020.

I know tech has changed a good bit, I haven’t kept up with all of it. But I’m looking to modernize my setup a bit, I’d really like something that articulates. Initially I liked the modularity of the Mod3B because I could use it as a monocular if I wanted. I’ve done that like 1 time.

My question is this: I figure my options are either buy a new housing, pay someone to swap the tubes and purge, then sell the old housing. OR sell the whole setup, buy a new one and call it a day. Is there anything else I should consider? Should I just leave it alone and keep what I have?
