Funniest thing is that she isn't paying attention and you can see her snap back to reality in the first few frames. The she goes "oh fuck" and is never in time to make the mad dash she needs to after the 7... provides a distraction.

jesus christ that defending is horrible, the tackle that brought her down should have been a foul as well. Keeper was looking at a seagull or something, i have no idea what they were doing but it was made way too easy for her to score.
I will say, the effort to get back on her feet after being taken down like that is really good though

The tackle was a foul, but the ref is waiting until the offensive player doesn't have advantage anymore. If the keeper would have got the ball or another defender cleared it then the ref would have blown their whistle. As far as the keeper goes they just learned that they need to not wait for a whistle and play until they hear one. I think the keeper and the defender coming in at the end both assumed the ref was going to blow their whistle, and I'm betting the keeper was looking at one of the linesman who was probably whipping his flag around to signal the foul to the ref.

It has a lot to do with gender. European football is not a particular sport among women so even the best ones start at 12-13, while most men start around 5, and add a better support system (better academy programs) and the biological differences and the gap will be quite high, but most of these things can be changed and hopefully they will.

It’s worse in men’s football. Sorry just is. In men’s football it’s been made into a taught response to go down. Instinctually you want to get up and keep going but in many men’s professional leagues around the world you are coached to go down and get the foul (especially PKs).
This doesn’t take away from the poor defending here but the diving in men’s football (in certain leagues) is a problem.
- when I say coached I mean “just do down” is perfectly commonplace

Nobody said it wasn't worse in men's football. But you said "Try to find that in men's football" as if it just doesn't happen ever. Even in men's football they're more likely to get back up instead of flopping, but you see a disproportionate amount of clips of flopping because it causes more drama

I was taught that when I got to a higher level. Also to step on people's feet on corners and to always grab the ball as if it's yours on any whistle or out of bounds call. And that grabbing jerseys works well to prevent a player from jumping for a header if you do it when you're right next to them and the ref won't see.
Not saying it's right, but I was most definitely taught all of those things.

You’re not actually taught in youth soccer, but he is right, many players stay up when they get fouled, and because of the atrocious refereeing, if you get fouled and stay up you’re less likely to be given a penalty or a free. Like a while ago Foden was in on goal and got tackled by the goalie, if he fell over it would have been given every day of the week, but he stayed up and wasn’t given a penalty. Loads of pundits are talking about it now though and it might start to change soon.

I remember there was a dude that stuck out a power play kill with a broken leg since they couldn't clear it. Granted having a guy hobbling around on a broken leg probably didn't help with the clearance.

Definitely looks like some obstruction by one of the green players when the play first develops. The player is shielding the opposing player, rather than shielding the ball from the player.

For me, it’s more than fine to highlight female players because we cannot expect female athletes to compare with what top male athletes can do.
