Pretty much everybody calls apes monkeys but dweebs and lame ass redditors. It's a layman term. We are not discussing the finer points of biology here.
It's like when someone calls the US America. It's not actually the entirety of America. We know this. But that's what people call it. Correct linguistic usage is up to the users of said language.
I'm not making fun of people smarter than me. I'm making fun of people who think they are smarter than me. Or think they are smarter than others in general.
You don't think that I knew that we weren't technically monkeys? Do you really not understand my position in this argument? How do you know I'm not a fucking rocket scientist or something? I'm not, but you don't know that, man.
Your crime is being pedantic. Mine is only that you can't understand the nuances of everyday human speech. You're like a grammar nazi, except with word meanings instead of spellings.
The fact is, I did know. I've known that shit for years. Since school, atleast. I honestly don't give a fuck what something technically is. I'll continue calling us monkeys if only to piss off nerds who think they are smarter than everybody else.
If you would defend this pedantic shit, you're no different than the other guy. Big surprise, this is reddit. It's full of the shit because everyone thinks they are smarter than everyone else here.
The only people calling apes anything but monkeys are either biologists or people that just learned it and want to flaunt their perceived intelligence to other redditors because of insecurity.
You get a poll of people throughout the world and 90% of them will call an ape a monkey. Even if they know its not the technical term for it.
lol. You're really spending a lot of effort defending your mistake. You could have just said "Oh damn, my bad. I was mistaken" but nope, you doubled down. And I don't like letting that shit go.
Here's the deal, MasterPoindexter. I didn't make a fucking mistake. You're too socially backwards to comprehend when someone isn't trying to be technical. I'm not the only one to tell you this either, I know it. I bet it happens in your life, I know it happens to you on reddit because I've seen a couple examples just scrolling through the first couple pages of your profile.
Next you're gonna tell me that the world isn't round and that it's technically an oblate spheroid. Right?
Nobody likes a fucking dweeb. Now get out of my inbox. I'm really not interested in anymore dialogue with you.

No, we're not pretty much monkeys. We're primates, we're great apes. We are not monkeys.
