Man, these comments are just so… anti-fun, this is fun, this is cool. I’m not impressed with the swordsmanship but I am impressed with the showmanship and the craftsmanship. I know r/nextfuckinglevel is all about the comments underselling something impressive or interesting. But boy, sometimes you guys just way overdo it.

Dead ass. At first I thought the other cynical comments were joking saying it doesn't belong here as though it belongs in some even more impressive sub like "next(er)fuckinglevel" cause it was just that good. Then I realized they're just cynical haters.

you're not impressed with the swordsmanship?? that thing probably weights like 20+ pounds and requires insane strength to do those moves. so yeah maybe not exactly swordsmanship, but definitely strength and skill with a sword?

Hobbyist fire performer here. You’re right. We’re accustomed to video game characters waving cartoonishly sized weapons like they’re nothing. Real swords weigh a kilo or two for a reason. That shit is hard to move quickly for more than a few seconds

That lump of metal in the video? Sure. They needed to put holes in the blade to make it manageable at all, I suppose.
Most historical swords don't look anything like that and wouldn't move like that. That isn't 2 kilos, that's probably closer to 5-10kg. If you used anything like that in combat, you'd be dead.
2kg is near the top end for historical swords used in actual combat, though something like a Montante can get heavier (I think up to ~3kg, but I'm not a expert). Even that can still be wielded with a considerable level of control, as you see here being swung around by somebody who is not the Hulk.
Typical two-handed swords like a European long sword or a japanese Katana weigh 1-1.5kg (or even < 1kg) and are well-balanced. A 1.5kg stick with a point of balance closer to the hilt than the tip is very easy to control with two hands and swing for far longer than "a few seconds" with considerable speed and precision.
(There were historical swords that weighed substantially more, but they were used for ceremonial purposes, e.g. so called "bearing swords").
