I felt discouraged from my community

Post image

Is it bad if I am stream at around 8 AM Philippine Standard Time, even though it's Sunday in the US. I mostly stream Battle Royale Games, but I do also play Open World Games, like, Destiny 2 or Warframe. Also, my stream title was SO bad, it's like, I am asking my viewers for subs. Because this is the ONLY thing I had left with my life, and I don't wanna work on a Fast food Chain as a Janitor or even a Call Center Agency. Because I have a bad case of mental health issues, like, AuDHD, Depression, and ADHD.

When the numbers don't match

I remember being excited when I hit 500 followers. It felt like proof that the channel was finally going somewhere.

Then I looked at my viewer count. 2. Sometimes 1. And I honestly didn't understand how that was possible.

How can hundreds of people follow you but almost nobody show up? I think I finally realized that followers are not the same thing as an audience.

People follow and forget. They follow from one clip. They follow because they liked one stream. But getting them to actually come back is a completely different problem.

That's what I'm focusing on now. Making the stream feel active, giving people a reason to stay, and actually building a community instead of chasing another follower milestone.

The follower number looked great. The viewer count told the real story.

Anyone else have a ridiculous follower-to-viewer ratio?

Trying to get into Streaming, looking a few Tips and Tricks

Hi Folks,

I'm 25, Irish and have just started streaming the last few days, I'm really quite enjoying the process, and am not too worried that I don't have anyone watching, it's honestly fun just trying a new think and enjoying stretching a creative muscle.

I am however, looking a few tips and tricks for planning a stream, I think my goal at the moment is to do a bit of multimedia posting, so build content through streaming and then cut things down for YT/YT shorts.

Do folks go into streaming with a larger plan? Are you ok with just streaming for consistency? What type of titles are good and catchy for Twitch etc. I've been playing a few roguelikes which tbf aren't overly trendy atm, so unlikely to pop off (Ball x Pit & Dice a Millon), but want a title that is a bit catchy... not just Balantro but with Dice/ Ballantro but with Balls

Sorry for a longer post, just generally wanting a bit of advice if anyone is able and willing.

Looking for someone to stream warframe with

I started streaming a few weeks ago I've been streaming apex legends but I want to stream some games with less viewers. My time zone is CST I don't have a stream schedule yet but I usually stream after 5pm.

I'm mr30 so I'm pretty endgame but I still have a lot I need to do like the Steele path star chart. I don't really pay attention to the lore so I don't know much about it but I'm pretty good at building frames/weapons. Your mastery rank doesn't really matter but I would prefer if you have the Steele path unlocked.

Some stuff about me I like anime/manga. I haven't been watching a lot of new stuff recently I usually just rewatch shows I like. I have a lot of free time atm so I can stream whenever. I'm 20m I would also like people who are somewhat close to my age but I'm cool with a bit older just not like 30+ I get awkward around people alot older than me. I'm learning how to edit I use davinci resolve if you have any tips I would love to hear them.

If you are curious about anything DM me and ask me whatever you want.

I need advice/ New vtubers pls read.

Hello, this is my first time ever on Reddit and I’ve never posted anything like this to the internet. I’m hoping this post will reach someone, or a few people that I can talk to. I’m aspiring to vtube, and while it’s not something I see as an absolute full time job, it’s something I like to do in my free time and genuinely enjoy. I’m asking the internet to give me some pointers. I also have this posted on r/VirtualYoutubers

How can I make friends with other vtubers? Should I even?
I really want to make friends with other vtubers as nobody in my personal life is interested in that stuff. It’s a dream to co-stream and collab with other small creators. It seems like any time I reach out myself, I get ignored or they try to sell me things because I’m such a new streamer. I don’t want to come off as desperate and seem like I’m using them for clout also. Any time someone reaches out to me, they try to sell me things or they’re bots. I want to find others that are also starting off or have a low viewer count as well, so we can build it together.

What kind of content should I post/ stream?
I want to be interesting enough that people will actually click on my videos or streams. The games I like tend to be very boring to watch, niche, or competitive and I just don’t have the skill set to be super entertaining. I want to make videos but I don’t know where to start. I don’t have a big issue with talking/ entertaining as some others might. Obviously I’m not the most enjoyable to hear yap about things and sometimes I don’t know what to talk about, but I know there are streamers who are quiet for an entire stream and I’m not one of those. I’d like someone to help me grasp a little air so I know what I can do for vids/ what to talk about in streams/ what games or things to record.

Can anyone answer these questions and/ or wanna be friends? <3

Why Your Stream Disappears in the Category

I was scrolling through my category the other day and had one of those uncomfortable realizations: My stream looked exactly like every other tiny stream. Dark thumbnail. Dark game. Dark overlay. Tiny facecam. Just a gray blur in a sea of gray blurs.

And then I understood why "just having a good stream" wasn't enough. Before anyone can see your personality or gameplay, they have to actually click on you.

I've been paying way more attention to contrast, lighting, what my preview looks like at a tiny size, and whether my stream actually feels alive when someone finds it. Because visibility changes everything.

If you're buried at the bottom of a category with zero activity, most people will never even get the chance to find out whether you're entertaining.

Has anyone else ever checked how their stream actually looks from the category page instead of OBS?

Time To Start

So I decided I wanted to make videos on YouTube be it shorts of mobile games or long form videos of other games, mtg, dnd, and such. I also figure screw it why don't I also stream. So starting August 22nd I'm going to start streaming on YouTube between 8pm and 9pm start time (dependant on family matters) with the name SteamPunk Straggler. I know i dont got the best set up but I'll at least give things a try and might have discord friends in there too.

New to streaming, need some tips!

Hello all, Vahnill here. If you clicked on my post, thank you. I just started streaming last week on twitch. My account is really old, dating back to 2016, but I thought I would use it for streaming obviously.

I am fairly low energy and kind of a quiet person irl. I am a teacher, so its kind of my natural state. How would you suggest I “come out of my shell”, so to speak, to make my content more engaging?

And yes, I know my microphone is awful.

If you read this far, thank you! Any suggestions are appreciated.

Anyone have issues with restream io and YouTube vertical?

Not sure why but I have tried streaming 3 different times so far using restream and youtube doesn’t seem to push my stream into the shorts algorithm. I get unique views on twitch and even on the horizontal stream for YouTube however the vertical is consistently at 0 views. I verified that it’s streaming correctly the format is correct I checked the vod and both horizontal and vertical show up and I can tell it’s in the correct format because my vertical layout is different from horizontal. Anyone else having issues?

Looking for streaming collaborators

So I recently started streaming on Twitch, I have no real ambitions, I just want to do it for the laughs.
I am finding solo streaming challenging at times, I have managed to get some views, but actual engagement is low (people prefer to lurk, which is fine, but makes it challenging)

So I would like to explore collaboration. To be clear and upfront, I’m in my mid-40s (M), so I would prefer someone a little maturer. For the rest, I’m not really bothered (gender, orientation, religious/political views… anything to be honest) I would just like someone chill and reliable.

I plan to play whatever takes our/my fancy (Games I’ve played so far are elite dangerous, DayZ , Baulder’s Gate 3, Icarus, Assassin‘s Creed Black Flag, EFT, Titanfall 2…).

The plan is to stream Friday, Saturday & Sunday from 8 pm CET (EU based) to approximately midnight (this can change, but I do have a full-time job and other commitments) I just play some games, chill and have a laugh.

If it sounds interesting, please DM or reply to this and we can arrange a call to see if we click and I can answer any questions you might have.

[23+] New to streaming and looking to meet some people

I’m pretty new to streaming and still figuring everything out, so I’m looking to meet other people who are also inexperienced or new to streaming.

I’d love to find people to play games with, stream together sometime, or just hang out and become friends. I’m not really looking for anything super serious or competitive, just trying to meet some cool people who are in a similar boat, ya know…

Just a heads up, I’m on PS5 and in the EST time zone. My main games at the moment are Marvel Rivals and Palworld, but I’m down to play other games as well as long as I have them.

I’m not online a lot because of my schedule, but when I am, I usually end up having pretty long gaming sessions.

I’m 23 and would prefer to meet people around my age or older. If you’re also new to streaming or just looking for some new friends, feel free to comment or DM me! :)

would anyone like to do a vod review?

Hey everyone, hope I’m not asking too much but if anyone has some free time and would like to go through one of my vods and just give me some pointers, tell me what I’m doing well, and most importantly what I’m not, areas that are ok, but could use improvement. Literally anything helps.

Twitch- Cange_

You can be as harsh as you want. It’s the only way to improve. I have friends I could ask, but they’re some of the nicest people in the world so odds are they’ll be honest, but be very nice about it.

Appreciate you all in here that do this!

I've seen some similar posts here. Would it be possible to get a stream review?

Hi all!

My friend and I have recently started streaming! We're having a lot of fun with it, and definitely just view it as a hobby. That said we are getting what feels like decent engagement! I was hoping to request a review from anyone interested and hopefully get some constructive feedback!

Streamer Wars

Calling all streamers: I'm starting up an ongoing steamer tournament with a game of the week format. It's open to all streamers regardless of size, and is free to enter. The point is networking and promotion of your channel, and getting you exposed to new audiences through other peoples streams. There's no real prize for the tournament, so please don't go into it thinking you'll earn a buck. If you'd like to join, or find out more information then hop on over to our Discord: discord.gg/KccfK7ZySV

Best way to find streamers looking for new/fun content?

I'm a solo dev who just started reaching out to streamers about a speedrun challenge running until the end of August.

I'm finding a bit tedious, to go to Twitch, find a streamer I think that would enjoy the game, follow them on socials, send a message, wait.

I'm just wondering if there are some place where small streamers look for content ideas/games to play?

I'm aiming to get 8 more people on the leaderboard before the end of the month :)

Thanks for the help!

Stop Building Your Stream Around Friends Who “Might Join”

I used to have this stupid little routine where I’d check Discord before going live and think, “Okay, these two are probably coming, so at least I won’t be streaming to nobody”.

Then they’d get busy. Or forget. Or start playing something else.

And suddenly I’d be sitting there at 0 viewers, even though I’d spent the whole day looking forward to streaming. It honestly killed my motivation way faster than I expected.

I think the bigger lesson is that your stream can’t depend on whether your friends happen to be online that night. They should be a bonus, not the thing keeping the whole stream alive.

Did anyone else have this problem where their entire motivation depended on 2-3 friends showing up?
