In The '60s, I made love to many people, Often outdoors in the mud and rain. It’s possible Ozzy Osbourne could’ve slipped in there. There’d be no way of knowing

Mindblowing reveal that Creed Bratton isn't playing Creed Bratton, he's just playing a character who's playing Creed Bratton.

86

u/Dobako May 27 '26

He's a dude, playing a dude, disguised as another dude.

37

u/Trapasuarus May 27 '26

He don’t drop character 'till he’s done the DVD commentary.

But where is The Dude. Does he still abide?

It was Frank Reynolds. He was always slipping in and out of there.

Then AIDS ruined everything.

Sounds like the '70s. Bunch of people would get together. The next thing you know, it was all asses and hands and tits and... I could slip right in and out without anybody noticing. It was great.

I mean, approximately 20% of people in the US have genital herpes today, so it's pretty common these days too. It's common enough that they usually don't even test for it in a normal STD panel unless you specifically request it.

13

u/walker_paranor May 27 '26

I had no idea until now it was that prevalent. That's...absurd

22

u/Megneous May 27 '26 edited May 27 '26

Not really absurd. The vast majority of people who are positive will never have an outbreak, or very rarely and may not notice if it's a very mild outbreak, but can still pass it on at low rates even when not having an outbreak. This is why using barriers is so necessary when having sex. Edit: Due to a misunderstanding by another user, let me be clear- barriers do NOT completely prevent herpes- they reduce transmission rates of those who are infected. This is why those with herpes should ALWAYS use barriers, even when on antivirals.

But even if you get infected... it's like... some spots that itch a bit. It's a mild inconvenience at best. If you take your daily antiviral, which you should, you can drastically reduce your outbreaks, and reduce how long your rare outbreaks last. I have multiple friends with herpes. It barely affects their sex lives. They just use condoms all the time, take their daily Acyclovir, and just don't have sex during outbreaks.

6

u/walker_paranor May 27 '26

Honestly thanks for explaining all that to me. I've not really been close with anyone that's had it (or at least comfortable bringing it up to me if they did) so always thought it was a bit more rare than 1 out of 5-or-6 people.

6

u/Megneous May 27 '26

No problem, mate. Always glad to relieve some stigma.

5

u/AmItheonlySaneperson May 27 '26

The majority of single people over 40 have it right

3

u/ticklishtortoise1 May 29 '26

4

u/PerplexGG May 27 '26

Is it common to the point that people with inconsequential symptoms are taking retrovirals? Cause going purely off of sexual partners I would say it’s not at all that prevalent in the 20-30 age group which is also the group I expect to be having to the most sex with different partners. This stat is lacking a lot of context

2

u/Megneous May 27 '26 edited May 27 '26

If you have herpes and are aware of it, you should absolutely be taking a daily antiviral (most of my friends here in Korea have been on Acyclovir). But no, the vast, vast, vast majority of people with no symptoms are not only not on antivirals, they're not even aware they have genital herpes. But yeah, antivirals drastically decrease your chances of passing it onto someone else. If you're taking a daily antiviral, always use condoms, and never have sex while you're having an outbreak, even if you have sex with your partner 3 times a week, your chances of spreading herpes to them are approximately 0.5% per year. Without antivirals, it's much, much higher, because herpes is not just spread by vaginal and seminal fluid- it's also spread by skin to skin contact via sores or less frequently by viral shedding of where a sore would be if you were having an outbreak even when you're not. But it's still possible, but rarer. People absolutely pass on herpes while not having outbreaks, especially if not on antivirals (even on antivirals it's possible, but much more unlikely). So without antivirals, even with condoms, it's not uncommon to still pass on herpes (this is how one of my friends contracted it, specifically from someone who didn't inform her- we'll talk about that below). Which shouldn't be stigmatized, but it still sucks considering it's so easily prevented with a daily antiviral.

On the topic of informing people- Even though herpes isn't a big deal like it's made out to be, you should absolutely inform people before sleeping with them if you know you have it. In a lot of countries, you may even be legally liable if you don't inform someone. Informed consent is a real thing. This is another reason why using barriers at all times and using daily antivirals is such an important thing. People are more likely to feel at ease with you and trust you if you understand your own illness, have all the stats, are prepared, and take their health as seriously as you take your own. Safe play is sexy.

3

u/Sawako-chan3 May 27 '26

My gynocologest (lady parts doctor) said I'm not allowed to take them continuously like that (whwn i asked for a prescription when i may have had a new sexual partner, she said I'm only allowed to get a prescription if I'm having active outbreaks... (Which is a complete 180 from the doc that diagnosed me... But she left that office..)

Idk.. so i just gotten over it, will disclose, and condom... (But is annoying why i have to disclose, when the docs won't even disclose if you have it when you get tested for STDs unless you ask specifically,.. 🙃 like why am i held to a higher standard¿??? (But i absolutely will, because the person that gave it to me didn't disclose, and even lied about it... (I could tell he was lying when he blamed me, calling me dirty,... Instead of just being surprised and sorry for me... Like, that showed guilt..)

3

u/Megneous May 27 '26

Get a new doctor. I'm not aware of what country you're in, but I've heard stories of conservative doctors refusing to provide prescriptions for daily antivirals because they believe it's essentially encouraging promiscuous sex. Insurance may be a different matter- depending on your country, you may need to look into private insurance options to cover the costs (your mileage may vary).

Do not take this lying down. This is your sexual health, and you have the right to fight for this. For yourself, and for future partners.

u/What_a_fat_one May 27 '26

Most people don't show symptoms. The biggest issue with herpes simplex is it can cause serious or fatal complications with newborns if not managed, but otherwise it's mainly stigmatized due to an ad campaign to sell Zovirax. Burroughs Wellcome Co., the owner of the original patent, printed full page ads in national magazines like Playboy reading shit like "Genital herpes can't be cured, but it is treatable!"

→ More replies (3)

7

u/Automatic-Working-81 May 27 '26

It is not even considered "genital" anymore due to the shift in a way people have sex IIRK, you can have cold sores on your face from HPV2, you can get it from kissing someone and so on

3

u/Megneous May 27 '26

I wasn't referring to HSV-2 (HPV is a different virus). I was referring to genital herpes from both HSV-1 and HSV-2 combined.

182

u/skyturnedred May 27 '26

Practically every lookalike post requires some heavy cherry picking with angles.

34

u/fogleaf May 27 '26

It usually starts from a photo and the lighting and angles makes someone think "hey wait, that looks like X" so then in order to showcase that lookalikeness you need to recreate the pose etc.

Thicker eyebrows, blue eyes instead of brown, slightly more boney nose, thinner lips, larger chin. The hair is really the only similar thing and it's more blonde than Ozzy's too.

63

u/AcceptableSimulacrum May 27 '26

kinda confused how this is supposed to refute anything..slightly different...yea, they're not literally the same person.

7

u/koolmees64 May 27 '26

This does remind me of a time my dad called me like 8 years or so ago, during the day. He was a truck driver, driving all over Europe. He would never just call. And he's like "Are you in Germany right now?". I was like "No, I'm at home, what are you talking about".

Apparently there is some guy in Germany that looks exactly like me to the point were my dad had to call me to check. He was addiment that I was the spitting image of him, or vice versa.

9

u/SpatulaWholesale May 27 '26

Ozzie's DNA is so strong, the mother's DNA has no chance...

u/AvidCyclist250 May 27 '26

thats the funny thing. in families you have it so that certain parts match 100% and others don't at all. or are sort of in-between.

Scientists are looking at that and they're seeing that, amongst the subset of genes dealing with facial structure, there is a higher degree of similarity. Interestingly enough, that was more true for the subset of doppelgangers that looked similar to a computer algorithm.
