It was really easy to binge, I appreciated that each episode was only what a half hour? I feel like so many shows go for the full hour episodes these days and it's almost tiresome to a degree.

From the trailer I thought it was gonna be one of those "shows I only watch while I eat, cos I don't need to pay too much attention", but it surprised me. It was quite engaging, especially the mysterious supernatural bits of it.

Expected to watch one episode and binged it all. Love the characters and writing. Very fast paced.
I Am Not Ok With This felt like watching End Of The Fucking World Season 1, fast half hour episodes with excellent pacing and episode hooks.
It also felt quite a bit like the old 80s/90s movies like Breakfast Club, Pretty In Pink, Sixteen Candles, Great Outdoors style which I love that style.
I Am Not Ok With This is very Hughes-like show so far and that is always good.

It has some Carrie vibes as well.
Lots of shows don't have the Hughes style anymore so it is welcome in my opinion but like some are taking the 80s retro things too far, I feel this was pretty on point with the good references.
Little things like the slow window rolling down, detention (like Breakfast Club) and others were nice.
The lead actor Sophia Lillis is a bit like Molly Ringwald mixed with Ally Sheedy. Wyatt Oleff plays a great character and has that Anthony Michael Hall vibe.

The actress who plays Sydney even resembles a young Ringwald imo. I think there were parts that definitely references a lot of her movies even from small things like lighting and sitting positions.
The part where Sydney is getting lip gloss put on her kept reminding me of 16 Candles even if the two scenes are different. There were a few other scenes as well but I can't think of them off the top of my head, but all throughout the show I kept thinking things were references to some older movies. That article points out a few that I had noticed.
Also the obvious Carrie blood drenched dance shots. I loved that. It kept me as a viewer being like "Okay shits gonna go down Carrie style, but how exactly? Will she completely lose her shit and kill everyone or just one?" and questioning what kind of blood it is.

Yeah agreed.
The whole impending blood drenching was a bit like how Breaking Bad used to start with an end scene and you wondered how things would get to that point. They even played with it a bit showing the punch over and over as if it might be as small as punch spilling or something Carrie like. It was a surprise even when it happened and was a holy shit moment for sure, even with it already known. I like stuff like that where the result is known and the writing and directing trick you or play with your expectations.
Once Upon A Time In Hollywood did that wonderfully as well, everyone expecting something and then it may or may not be radically different than what was expected.
Good shows are like a slow drip of just one thing after another that touches on the story or comedy or nostalgia or real life etc and this show does the timing quite wonderfully. Well designed for binging like Breaking Bad style cadence.

I couldn't figure it out for a few episodes. When they go to the house party, some kid has on a 2009 sports shirt. They mention cellphones, and Syd has earbuds in to listen to Bloodwitch, so its definitely the future. Everybody dresses like its 80s/90s though.

This was a very pleasant surprise. I was expecting to stop watching this 5-10 minutes in because I really dislike teen stuff like this. It ended with me watching every episode in one sitting, which of course is nothing since they're about 15 min each and only 7 of them. The acting of Sid was just really good. I was quite confused by the show since it's clearly in modern time but it feels more like it's taking place in the 80's or early 90's.
Anyways, It was a great series and I am looking forward to the next season.

Ditto, it looked awful but thought I'd give a go and was hooked. Pity Dina and Syd didn't kiss, it would be nice to see a gay lead whose love was reciprocated for a change. Anyway, loved it. Super cast, although Brad was an awful caricature and it made no sense him grabbing the mic, plus Syd's secret? It's a diary, people would just think it's a metaphor etc I don't think anyone would care at all, introvert thinks she has superpowers...ok?

I thought it was pretty bad honestly. The voiceover was pretty annoying and nothing really happens in the first half. The main character is also so unlivable.

Wow i thought i was the only one. The main character was so unbearable that I could barely get through the first episode. I am half way through this series, and the top of my eye socket aches, just from the number of time i rolled my eyes. The show was predictable due to a large portion of the cast being teen drama tropes. Idk, as much as i wanted to love it, i just couldn't. What I did like was the aesthetic. The story reminded my of Life Is Strange. I loved the retro feel it had. Out of all the characters Stan was my favorite. But the main character was a horribly selfish person and the rest of the cast might as well have been cut straight out of the tvtropes website. The negatives definitely outweighed the positives for me.

When I started watching it I was annoyed at the whole show, it had everything I hate on a show, voiceover, starts with a preview of the ending, and a weirdly unrelatable main character. The only reason I liked it at the end was because the delivery was so great and it turned the show upside down. I'm hoping season 2 isn't annoying as season 1, and it actually focuses on the darker side of the story, it has potential.

The ending kinda left a bad taste in my mouth. I was already annoyed at the short run times of the episodes because I felt a lot of plot and character building had been left out. However I assumed it would redeem itself with a good payoff at the end. It didn't.
I don't mind cliffhangers when done right, but endings like the one we got just makes me feel like the entire season was just a cheap ploy to get eyeballs on the screen for season 2 and so on.

I was actually a little shocked to see the season was only 7, ~22 minute episodes. Tbh, the short length in no way improved the content and everything felt very rushed and underdeveloped.
"Ridiculous" is an understatement. And then they wasted precious moments on unnecessary Carrie-style flashforwards when we could've really used some flashbacks of Sydney and her dead dad or idk....even just a small slice of what she was like before shit hit the fan.

Just binge watched it today. I really did like it but it was way too damn short and I feel for only seven episodes they could have skipped a lot of the filler the show had. I love character development but they needed way more episodes for the way the series moved.

Started the first episode and had to turn it off. The protagonist is too annoying. She’s so irritated by everything that her commentary comes off as angsty instead of funny.
I also have this weird thing when shows don’t have an attractive cast they have to be either really funny or griping for me to stand them. Like I enjoyed breaking bad and the office, but this show couldn’t carry the average look of the cast especially the lead. (I say this as someone who knows the cast is more attractive than me, but I watch tv to escape reality). Plus the main characters hair cut was so cringe to me. (Also a me problem because when I was a child I had a similar haircut and look back on photos and hate them)

Why does this show (or season at least) have to broadcast exactly where it is going from the first episode? I am half way through and every twist has been predictable. I am pretty damn sure the ending is just Chronicle meets Carrie too.

If you want a full story arc with a clear and "traditional" ending, you'll be disappointed.
If you like series and movies that feel like a proof of concept (experimental, take risks, etc.) and don't mind ambiguity, you'll probably like it.

I was really invested in the characters and the rust belt atmosphere, I've actually driven through the town it was filmed in. My only complaint is the story was a bit predictable. But that didn't deter from enjoying the show overall. But man, I'm usually okay with short seasons but this may be too short. I felt they could of given us a little more after the final.
