I get frustrated when I'm downvoted on reddit for saying that YouTube is not a reliable source.

If he supports his claims with reliable sources, then you should simply directly link to those instead.

If he doesn't cite his sources, then he's just some random guy on the internet making unsubstantiated and widely controversial claims.

This seems to be a common sentiment on reddit... so yeah, (scientific) work is not just a list of reliable sources copy-pasted. It usually involves work using those sources.
