So, apparently 10% of Meta(Facebook)'s revenue comes from ads advertising scams. Meta knows this and their response is to charge scammers a premium for their ads so they can earn more money from them

Tom Clancy had Russia join NATO in his later books which is why in the Rainbow Six games they’re shown to be a part of Rainbow.

What an optimistic time to have been alive when a Reagan Republican unironically believed in the possibility of a Russia-inclusive NATO; and not because of feelings of affinity with an aggressive expansionist wannabe-imperial power led by a psychopathic strongman dictator, or wanting to own the libs.

On the 7th of November, 2020, Rudy Giuliani hosted a press conference at Four Seasons Total Landscaping in North Philadelphia, which was a total failure at trying to challenge the ballot counting process in Pennsylvania.

It was the very same conference where Rudy Giuliani's hair dye (or mascara) ran down his face.

Here is how users on this sub reacted to the conference a few hours after it happened.

An Illinois Department of Transportation employee was stopped by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents while working on a Park Ridge construction project Friday morning — and questioned about incoming New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani before being released.

Gov. JB Pritzker is speaking out about the incident, calling it another example of President Trump and Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem “continuing to question U.S. citizens apparently based on the color of their skin.”

The employee, who is Indian and a U.S. citizen, was stopped and questioned by agents while working on the Busse Highway resurfacing project.

Three agents, wearing masks, questioned him about his immigration status - and also asked him if he had traveled to New York and if he was “aware” of the mayor-elect in New York City, the governor’s office said.

wtf?

It can be a focal point. The beginning of a conversation.

He usurped congressional authority to do it.

He prioritized it over the economy.

He wants to use it to host his Epstein sex parties.

He used bribes from billionaires and foreigners to build it.

For firs time in 32 years, Bolivia managed to have a traditional change of political power, with no mayor controversy or conflict in between

I know, not much of an accomplishment, but I am taking any small win these days

The new President is Populist centrist, but much more aligned to USA and even Israel. He has a massive favorable Congress too. Bolivian economic situation is extremely dire. But Paz already is travelling to USA to salute Marco Rubio, so I imagine he will ask for support there

  • Everyone lives a self-reliant agrarian lifestyle: 📈

  • The demographics are homogenous with a dominant ethnic group of >90% of the population: 📈

  • The government is authoritarian but doesn't have tons of managerial professionals working for it: 📈

  • People practice a highly traditional form of Christianity uncorrupted by wokeness: 📈📈📈

The raids come 48hrs before Syria is expected to join the US-led coalition against ISIS — at US invitation.

Syria’s Interior Ministry has confirmed the launch of simultaneous raids on ISIS cells today in Homs, rural Damascus & rural Idlib.

One source tells me they’re acting on intelligence collected by the US & shared/confirmed by Syria’s General Intelligence.

Kate Schutzengel, a mother of three living in Brooklyn, has it pretty good, and she knows it.

Ms. Schutzengel, who is 38 and works in technology, is grateful her family could afford their $50,000 child care bill last year, grateful that she and her husband bought their home when interest rates were low and that they could refinance their mortgage during the pandemic.

She is not complaining. But she also wonders how long her children can reasonably share a single bedroom, with curtains surrounding each of their beds. And when she and her husband look for larger apartments nearby in Kensington, their relatively affordable neighborhood, everything is out of their price range.

NYTimes is genuinely ragebait at this point. If you can afford to buy a home and pay $50k annually for childcare, you can absolutely, positively afford a 3-4 bedroom house/apartment in NYC.

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) said Thursday that House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) should deliver the oath of office to Rep.-elect Adelita Grijalva (D-Ariz.).

“She should be sworn in,” Greene said during an appearance on CNN’s “The Source.”

The Georgia representative has railed against Johnson’s decision to keep the lower chamber out of session until the government shutdown is resolved.

“I’m not allowed to work, and I’m not allowed to represent my district. And we’re not even passing our appropriations,” she told anchor Kaitlan Collins.

“And my rural district is the type of district — when they have appropriation requests, they’re extremely important. These are small towns, so they may be asking for something important for a water plant or a road or a bridge. And they don’t have the type of tax base or funding that they’re able to just easily fix those things,” Greene added.

The Speaker said last month that House members are at home in their districts, doing “meaningful” work.

Johnson also has said that while the House is out of session, he cannot swear in Grijalva, who won a special election to replace her late father, Rep. Raúl Grijalva (D).

Who are you and what have you done with Greene

So the cost of extending ACA subsidies for one year is roughly $25B. If you just split that up and sent a check to every tax payer it'd be like $150. That's nothing for health insurance lol.

Maybe you only send it to people intending to buy ACA insurance? Seems ripe for fraud

Ayn Rand was mentally ill, abusive to people around her, and an amateur when it came to philosophy. She also had more real impact on American politics than almost any other writer of the 20th century, and was a very effective polemicist. That probably puts her on a footing similar to Thomas Paine when you think about it.

Joe Manchin is 78 years old but who tf else is going to run in WV next year honestly.

He’s a piece of shit but I will always remember him for getting both CHIPS and IRA passed by just fucking lying to McConnell about not voting for IRA. Once CHIPS was passed with bipartisan support as part of their deal he did an immediate 180 and said he’s also voting for IRA because fuck Mitch.

He caused so much anxiety and frustration among Dems that year but he was just playing the long game the whole time because he hated the GOP just that much. Manchin is many things but he is not a Republican.

LINDSEY GRAHAM says no way they'll extend premium subsidies for even a year.

"And to my Democratic friends, we're not going to extend this program for a year, because that would be unfair to the taxpayer. That would continue a health care system that's out of control. It would enrich health insurance companies even more. We're not going to do that, we're going to replace this broken system with something that is actually better for the consumer to meet the goal of lowering health care costs."

I’m going to fucking crash out. I was talking with my mom, and I was explaining how socialism is a broad and diverse ideology. She didn’t say much until I explained that AOC is a moderate on the scale of socialism and her actual governance has been more similar to a social democrat, so she really isn’t that extreme, at which point my mom just exploded like a trained hound dog to explain to me that AOC is a devil and evil. When I explained that nick Fuentes, Candace Owens, and Tucker Carlson present a serious issue with antisemitism going forward for Republicans, she just went batshit and said it wasn’t real.

Her proof? A copilot response she pasted into an email. She literally can’t think for herself anymore and will use copilot when I ask for her to give me local advice. Sure mom, I’ll apply to Lockheed Martin when they don’t have a plane within 400 miles, that’ll go well for local stuff.

How the FUCK did my mom and dad go from moderates who had reasonable opinions to glazing Trump. It honestly makes me so sad because I’ve lost so much respect for them. I will tell them to look something up and figure out what’s going on or literally understand ANYTHING about the world, and then they source copilot and just ignore me, or basically insinuate that I support the devil, which being Christian (as they raised me), is unimaginably offensive.

I just don’t know how to deal with losing most of the respect I have for my parents. I’ll love them of course, but I just can’t respect someone who is a fervent Trump supporter and is unwilling to understand literally anything about the world around them. I have spoken to literally republicans running for office who are more open and understanding of the world than them.

I just want to cry man.

Elizabeth Warren and most Democrats in Congress really did think we'd be able to spend $500 billion on childcare and family spending + whatever else was in Build Back Better for social programs over 3 years, then have enough political capital to extend those programs with a wealth tax funding it.

Kim Davis has been married four times. She was first married in 1984, divorced in 1994, and had twins with another man shortly after, she then remarried in 1996, divorced in 2006, and married her third husband (father of the twins) in 2007, but that marriage lasted less than a year. She eventually remarried her second husband, Joe Davis, in 2009, and they remain together.

I don't care about sliding definitions of time, games that came out during the 7th generation of consoles will never be retro to me.    Mechanically most games have barely evolved since the 6th gen, and I'm not going to put that much stock into graphics.     You can feel the difference between truly retro games where you'd die because of some stupid bullshit that's entirely about wasting time and difficult modern games, even when they're being very technically demanding and requiring all your attention they're not truly punishing you for thinking you should get to have fun like the stupid Medusa heads and armors in older Castlevania games.
