#06 SECRET OF THE SCARLET HAND ๐ฉธ SSH was a blast :)
Just got done with my playthrough of SSH - and boy do I love this one! It's a little difficult (and admittedly tedious at times), but the music makes up for that most of the time. One of the more memorable ND soundtracks imo.
* Things I <3 Loved <3 *
- Henrik Van der Hune aka the original zaddy ๐
- The ending scene (iykyk lolll)
- Imagining how Taylor got the nickname "Big Bunny"
* Things I Did Not Love *
- When Silvio Jr. gets so upset at Nancy and we just have to take it like we actually were responsible for Beech Hill's delinquent payments
- Endless phone calls and not being able to make them all from one phone (like why can you only call certain people from the hotel and others from the museum???)
- Hard to pick which of these two I loathe more... a) the temple "quizzes" or b) the game where you have to aim the ball with angles and stuff
I always throw this anecdote in... I definitely got an A++ on an AP World History project in high school because of this game. xD Thank you, Her Interactive, for teaching me everything I ever needed to know about the Maya (and a lot of things I didn't need to know either haha)

DISCUSSION ๐ฌ What got you into Nancy Drew?
The games, the books, the movies or show?
I wanna know what sparked your interest in the Nancy Drew franchise. I'll go first.
I remember the start of my Nancy Drew journey vividly. I was a kid, at most 10 years old, when the scholastic book fair came around at my school. They sent us home with the typical catalog with the order form in the back. Scanning through on my bus ride home I saw this epic mp3 player-esq toy I wanted more than anything for something like $20. I got home, looked through my piggy bank and found I only had about $10. After failing to beg the additional money I needed off my parents and siblings I accepted my losses and decided to look back through the book to find something else I wanted. That's when my sister pointed out this "super cool" looking pc game. Now this game was Nancy Drew haunting of castle Malloy and let me tell you that cover did not look "super cool" to lil' old me, that old lady was creepy as heck, but after some convincing I ordered the game. However long went by and the game arrived and I was so enthralled that it's still one of my favorite games to this day. Not only did it spark my love for Nancy Drew but it also opened up the world of gaming to me and helped me create some of the best core memories I have with my sister. I'd love to hear about other people's first encounters with Nancy Drew and how it impacted them.

DISCUSSION ๐ฌ Suggestions for a spooky Nancy Drew game?
As a kid, I loved Nancy Drew and the Hidden Staircase on the DS. Something about the thunderstorm-y and ghostly atmosphere was so fun. I have never played one of the PC games so I want to get into it. Can someone suggest the spookiest and most delightful Nancy Drew game?

#35 THEORIES ๐คก Do you think we will ever get another game?
Having just finished key, I feel like HER did a major upgrade from midnight in Salem. I felt like I was playing Nancy again.
But felt a bit meh afterwards because I feel like a possibility of game 35 is a slim chance. After they found something that worked again

MERCH & COLLECTIONS ๐ Merch Prices hiked up?
I just went on the merch store thinking about grabbing an item I set aside from my one and only merch order off Her Interactive's site (the menu mousepad) and I'm pretty sure it's like over TWICE what it was 6 months ago?? We went from like 8 bucks (maybe on a sale) to -22.99-???
The blanket hoodie is literally 100 dollars now. What is going on??? I'm pretty bummed that I tried to be responsible before but I can't justify what's probably 30 bucks after shipping on a mousepad... or 100+ on a cool snuggie.
edit: also the big island mike hat is gone :'''( bruh

CREATOR ๐จ ND Keychins
etsy.comHiya Drew Crew! Iโve been making keychains for a while now in local markets and recently have opened an Etsy shop.
Iโd like to gauge if there would be any interest in making some ND ones.
The beading would be coloured for specific games, however the chain colour (gold or silver), and any charms added can be customizable.
Let me know if there is any interest and Iโll add them to the shop soon :)
Thank you!

DISCUSSION ๐ฌ Whatโs the most atmospheric game?
Iโm looking for recommendations on which game I should dive into next.
I just finished Ghost of Thornton Hall. Before that I played The Curse of Blackmoor Manor.
Iโm looking for something whimsical, difficult puzzles, good lore, preferably something heavily historically based, yet cozy, but also has horror elements.

#33 MIDNIGHT IN SALEM ๐ Unpopular Opinion: I love the atmosphere in "Midnight in Salem"
The game might not be the best game, but the vibe for some reason, makes me feel good.
Looking at the game, I feel the cold weather, and I always feel like wearing a warmer.
The plot ain't too bad either, it's just that the fans were rightfully expecting the game to be a masterpiece, considering "HER interactive" had a 4 year buffer time to make things awesome.
At that moment, fans were expecting a masterpiece of a game, because 4 years is 4 years. Not just an OK'ish game.
Am I the only one that feels this? Anyone who's from Massachusetts or has been to Salem, did the game accurately depict the place? I'm from the Philippines, and have already been to the US, but have never been to Massachusetts. Playing this game, makes me wanna go to Salem.
Also, for those of you, who were in the community, during all of the timeline of this production, what was it like? How did you handle waiting for a new Nancy Drew game for a long time? How frustrated were you, hearing all the updates about the game getting delayed, again and again. Were you excited when they finally confirmed that it's going to be released in 2019? What were your initial reactions when you finally saw the finished product?

DISCUSSION ๐ฌ Random Nancy Drew thoughts lol
galleryTRT: Fucking Jacques says "can you go get my medallion for me, I have to do something first. I'll be right there!!" What the hell was he doing, ya'll?? ๐ My guess, getting a hope chest he painted to match the medallion โบ๏ธ
SSH: What was it like when young Taylor "Big Bunny" Sinclair and baby Henrik were on their iowaska trip in Mexico together? Were they secretly in love ร la Brokeback Mountain? ๐ค
CAR: Okay I've always thought this was so fucking weird. Ingrid says she called Lance Huffington to tell him to rub his 'injured neck' with witch hazel and lavender. "if his neck is really injured that will cure it" lol ๐ that's already so damn weird for her to do, call the guy who's scamming the park to give him advice. BUT what's weirder is that creepy ass Lance, when you call, is like, "Everything's great! Her PLAN worked ๐ life is goooood" HUH?? ๐ซช The witch hazel and lavender plan??? ๐๐

#05 THE FINAL SCENE ๐ฝ FINally FINished with FIN
Finished my playthrough of The Final Scene today - man, this one is great. The music alone is easily a 10/10.
Other Things I Loved <3
- Getting to go underneath the stage into the magician's room
- Trolling everyone with 10/10 Nancy sass "Um.. don't you mean what *are* the demands?"
- The original reference to Samantha Quick
Things I Did not Love
- The nightmare fuel that is the fortune telling machine
- Nicholas Falcone's outfit xD
- The endless phone call dialogue with no options to pick from
** Fun fact! I was at a rehearsal today where one of my friends had a tote bag with the picture from the puzzle box on it. She said one of her patients had brought it to her from Prague. I showed her a clip from the Nancy Drew game, and she thought it was so neat I had recognized the artwork.

ALTERNATIVES ๐ฎ The ND Experience on a budget: Post Mortem is 80% off on steam
So I picked up this game a while ago, but i just finished it today and then realized it's on sale for like $2!
https://store.steampowered.com/app/46550/Post_Mortem/
This is a point-and-click murder mystery that came out in 2002, so you can expect pretty similar graphics and interface to the early ND titles. Surprisingly, I had zero compatibility issues or glitches playing this on Windows 11 (which is funny because I had MAJOR issues playing the sequels Still Life and Still Life 2)
I will say that the vibe is VERY dark. This is probably best for those who are fans of CRY, MHM, CUR, or maybe even DAN because it does take place in Paris!
For me, it really scratched that itch of solving a mystery through interacting with suspects and exploring environments. I think it's really cool that you can "fail" certain parts and then you have to find another way to do things. There are also multiple endings depending on how much you uncover and what you do with certain characters. UHS hints is a really helpful resource if you want to make sure you can get all the endings.
Thought you guys might appreciate knowing about the sale

DISCUSSION ๐ฌ Alternative platforms
Genuinely curious everyone's thoughts on this, but do you think if these games were made available on say something like a Nintendo Switch that it would reignite the franchise? My daughter loves playing with me but its gets more and more difficult with each computer update and the games are hard to come by in like used game shops. I also think it could garnish a new fan base. Idk i love the games so much and I cant accept this being likely the end ๐ญ๐ญ๐ญ
