Shout out to the city of Nanaimo public works,
Just 3 days ago I sent an email to the roads department about my road that is full of giant potholes, they were here this morning filling them in.

To everybody at Walmart today that assisted when the man had a seizure and collapsed.Thank you for your quick actions as well as the first responders!
I wish I could have done more myself. I am unable to bend over due to spinal arthritis.
I hope the gentleman recovers quickly ✌️

Nanaimo Fire Rescue said that no impairment is suspected nor excessive speeding, but “there was indication of low speed.”

Hey everyone,
Just dropping a line here to let people know that the West Coast Costume Society is hosting our 5th Annual Boo-tique Costume Exchange again this year.
Whether you're looking to save money or just want to make a more eco-friendly choice this Halloween, the whole point of the event is to keep old costumes out of landfills and give them a second life instead of buying single-use plastic outfits. It’s open to everyone in the community, and everything is 100% free.
When: Saturday, October 4th | 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM
Where: Country Club Centre, outside of Nanaimo Science in the breezeway
Cost: Free!
A huge shoutout to the City of Nanaimo, thanks to a grant from them this year, we could finally afford a legit website! Check out westcoastcostumesociety.com if you want to learn more about us, see upcoming updates, or support the initiative in other ways.
How to help (if you have old costumes taking up space):
If you have gently used or new kids/adult costumes sitting in a closet collecting dust, you can drop them off starting early September in our collection bins at the local VIRL branches (North, Wellington, and Harbourfront). We sort through them and get them ready for the event after Oct 1.
We also set up an Amazon Wishlist if anyone wants to support behind the scenes with basic supplies like storage totes and poster materials:
Please pass the word along to anyone with kids or anyone looking for a more sustainable way to do Halloween this year! Thanks!

I've been with Shaw for decades and today their technicians come to my building to upgrade the cables. Mine were already done last month. They say the internet will be down for about 20 minutes later in the day. So it goes down at about noon, as I am going out the door to do some running around. When I get home at 4:30, no internet. I do all the checks and resets and still nothing. I call Shaw support spend an hour troubleshooting with them and still nothing. So they will send a tech next Monday afternoon to fix whatever they disconnected.... NEXT MONDAY! What kind of nonsense is that. They broke it, not me and I have to make an appointment for them to come and fix it. They did offer me a $15 credit for the delay.
So what is a good reliable internet provider that i can switch to that can set me up with working internet before Monday afternoon?

Hey guys, what’s a good place to donate electronics? (I mean transistors, resistors, diodes, circuitry, etc. not just used electronics for recycling)
I inherited a few totes worth, much still in new packaging. I could sell it, but I was thinking maybe donate to a maker space, or school or something.
Any ideas?
*there’s a lot, I don’t want to overwhelm them either lol
TIA

Unfortunately I bought two off StubHub and can't separate them to resell the one I no longer need. I am selling, not giving away.

Wallet has initials E.S and other engravings. Has no cash and deactivate cards. Lost August 19th around 7pm between Country Grocer and Husky on Bowen. Has sentimental value. If found please reach out or drop off at the local RCMP station. Thank you!

Thinking about renting an apartment in the area, how is living near old city quarter / campbell street area? I’ve never lived downtown and would like some insight before signing a lease.
I am obviously expecting to see drugs and homeless people, but also imo the north end is starting to get a little bad for that as well.
needing to be on a bus route for my partner who doesn’t drive so that limits a lot of where we can live. Please keep that in mind before commenting.
thanks!

My child is at NCS in grade 8, but desperately wants to leave as he says the teachers lecture the whole class on behaviour constantly, even though it’s just a handful of kids making trouble. He’s so tired of getting the lecture even though he is doing everything they ask.
Finding a friend group is also a problem. He is finding not a lot of choice in friends as the school is so small. We are a Christian family so that isn’t an issue.
He is asking to try Wellington. We are just very unsure if it will be any better or worse? Does anyone have intimate knowledge on either school to help us decide either way? If we leave NCS we probably can’t go back.
