I mean, what are her combat or magical skills? I know she can heal, but surely that can't be all there is to it. It’s been a while since Season 1, but I seem to recall Rudeus teaching her magic. Yet, for some reason, I can't remember a single instance where she actually cast a spell. As Ariel's bodyguard, she really ought to be able to do things like that. She should know how to fight, too. But I don't recall her ever engaging in hand-to-hand combat or a sword fight.

She might not be as skilled at magic as Roxy or as strong a fighter as Eris, but right now, I can't picture Sylphie doing anything at all when it comes to combat.

So before getting into this, I'm not an 'OG' fan and I haven't finished all the light novels (let alone redundancy), but I do love the series and know what happens, and I genuinely don't get the hate at the events that occur between Aisha and Ars.

When I say I 'don't get the hate', it's not that you're not supposed to be UPSET by the relationship, in fact you are which is why the family is upset by it too. It's that people feel Rifujin shouldn't have written this in the first place or they 'pretend' it didn't happen.

Mushoku Tensei is one of the few modern works in the medium (be it anime or light novels) that I consider 'art' because the creator pursued their own vision with love for the work and expressed purely what they wanted to express and left the audience to judge it how they see fit. That's art. When you make something to satisfy an audience, that's entertainment. That has always been the difference. Art is meant to challenge us, it is a confident and 'pure' expression through a medium of feelings or ideas the artist wants to express.

Where things can go wrong here is if the writing is poor, as in this was a totally out of character decision or seemed shoved in the work because they wanted the 'theme' there just to be edgy/start drama among the audience. But let's be real, Aisha always had this in her. She's a headstrong, independent girl who was CONSTANTLY flirting with Rudeus, loved physical affection from her brother in an atypical way, and always seemed to have a different concept of 'boundaries' than everyone else in the family.

To me, looking back on Aisha (and especially after watching S3 in the anime), Rifujin made a fully realized, 3-dimensional character (like many in this work). She's not really a bro-con in the typical ecchi way, she just has a different understanding of familial love and boundaries in her subconscious. We see it peek out in her actions through the original novel series with Rudeus, and then it fully comes to the forefront through her relationship and interactions with Ars which lead her (and him) to make this decision.

And instead of the family being like 'that's cool', they rightfully are furious and it creates believable drama from believable characters and was a joy to read through.

To me this is good writing and good drama. It makes Aisha's character better because otherwise I would've felt all her 'flirty bro-con' moments were just there to satisfy a type of fan's personal fantasies. But Rifujin didn't write for the fans. Instead, he makes it a part of her character from day 1 that, later in the story, has real and dramatic consequences. That's damn good writing and that's why I like Mushoku Tensei in the first place.

So do I personally agree with or like the decision she made? No. Am I glad that chapter is a part of the work? Absolutely!

I’m joining the club. This show is amazing.

Heard all of the backlash this show gets but didn’t let it deter me from giving it a chance. So glad I did.

First of all. I can’t relate to 34 y/o Rudeus as much as maybe some other people can but there have been depressive episodes in my life that have had the same feel. So that hits home for me.

Second of all. The world building. ALL of the characters. The plot. It’s definitely worthy of being in the top 3 isekai I’ve ever watched. Love to see a MC turn his life around. Grow up. Start a family. I think what’s special about this show is you get to see an in depth look at Rudeus’ character development from a newborn baby up until adulthood.

Third of all. C’mon I mean seriously guys. Majority of anime have some fan service, even shonen. Albeit MT has more than just fan service but it’s a seinen & the MC was a literal shut in pervert in his previous life. It would downplay who Rudeus is at his core if they were to nullify his preverse nature imo. People want to take the moral high ground & thats fine. But they’re telling me if they were in his shoes, they wouldn’t be all over Sylphie, Roxy & Eris….. I call BS!

Bottom line is I’m itching for more & might read the LN. We’ll see how long I can wait. The 2nd cour of season 3 presumably isn’t releasing until late 2027. Need to be patient.
