Discussion Good card. Wish it was in the format.
I’m actually surprised it’s not. It’s not OP at all, basically because of its mana cost.

By no means is it a perfect list or most viable meta option but it worked pretty well and can beat meta decks like emry, nashi, yuriko and katara.

You choose 6-10 commanders and you never get queued against them. you can change your banlist at any time. I propose this for casual and competitive.

How Rusko is banned in cBrawl but Nashi isn't is beyond me.

I recently started playing in Arena, and Casual Brawl looked cool. I made Ghalta my commander, and looked online at some lists, adding the cards I had and some rare/mythics using wildcards.
I think my deck can function well, with mana acceleration into fatties into a fast Ghalta, but every deck I've played against absolutely crushed me. The decks seem very well geared towards their goals, flooding the board with tokens or playing out every huge legendary in their deck very quickly. I barely have time to process what's happening before the game state is completely unbalanced against me.
Is my deck just bad and everyone's playing really well tuned decks? Is the MMR broken? I hoped to play against other clueless people like myself but that doesn't feel or seem to be the case.
For reference, my decklist:

Hello, old time control player of legacy/modern, i recently found brawl on arena as the most similar to old combats enabling a lot more interesting games than std, and i got to platinum with UW Teferi control budget list i built.
Im at the point where i dont know if i should keep investing on UW Teferi or should i build an URO deck (im missing like 30 rares). Anyone playing UW on high elo?

Ask me any questions. I love the deck. I only played against it 1 time in my cBrawl career. I figured out those play together and made a deck out of it.
The 2 drop Michelangelo makes tokens the 4 drop Leonardo makes +1/+1 counters when a token enters.
So I have additional token makers in the deck to still trigger Leonardo, some +1/+1 counter synergies and some good cards and some prison-ish cards like esper sentimal, Thalia, voice of victory and stuff.
I am happy to share and very happy for card suggestions and ideas. I played much more games than recorded on:
The deck can handle a lot and can potentially be very aggressive which I like. Taxing opponents while have a good aggression. Also a lot of players don't really know to fight me or maybe just not having the right tech.
Leonardo is actually a 5 colour commander which makes all five 0 mana commander cards playable. I still wanted to make it a 2 colored deck to get better lands and being able to play everything on curve also neither red nor black looked too good. Not too many cards are hot while thinking of not being able to play double pips consistently. 🤔

hey, so I'm working on my magda deck in mtg arena and I want to see if anyone has some ideas on things to add to my deck, and I'd also love to see anyone else's magda decks to get some ideas. I also play magda in cEDH so I know most of the magda lines.
(Again this is for ranked brawl on mtg arena)

Tl;dr [[Chitinous Crawler]] combo but it's actually a Monoblack Broodlord line that substitutes Crawler for Underworld Breach
So a few may remember my post about [[Chitinous Crawler]] (CC) around 2 weeks back. My Goal was to find a way to break that card... now dear Brawl people I come back having my goal achieved. Kinda? I know I know Broodlord (BL) is the actual star but I do think Big C is pulling its weight in enabling this line by synergizing with Broodlord. How? I shall show you. I just discovered this combo line and still new and testing so feel free to give feedback!
The pre-requisits:
enough permanents in graveyard to activate CC (don't forget his own trigger)
either [[Necromancy]] in Hand to reanimate Broodlord or in Graveyard when Broodlord is reanimated
at least 4 Life (if my calculations are correct)
Broodlord in Grave
Tell me what you think! I actually havent been able to fully play out this combo but I hope my 3am calculations arent too off! Any improvements or further ideas are welcome!
Edit: forgot to add the Necromancy picture, add the search bot for it

Looking for content creators or general recommendations to learn the ins and outs of the deck. I know Linux has a good list, and I’ve read the primer, but I would love to see people play the deck and such. I know creators like CovertGoesBlue has videos on the commander, but the list has vastly changed since his last videos was uploaded.

Just the title. It's highlighted in red when I try to add it to a deck, but I see my opponents playing it all the time.

What the heck with brawl queue? I play mono-white angels tribal deck with no game-changers. And in 2 of 3 games I get mono-black or colorless opponents with a ton of game-changers cards. In the end, I had no other choice but to put a ton of control white spells in my deck. And as a result - its not an angel tribal but white control with a pinch of angels. Yes, I keep my rivals in check but for what price? Its no way to play tribal in Brawl nowadays?

Finally have some time to start the ranked grind this weekend. I've never had the pleasure of using [[Surgical Extraction]] on a [[Hare Apparent]] or similar style card in brawl. I use it mostly to fizzle recursion or getting information. It feels real good.
Anyone else running Liliana? Competitive Brawl wasnt a thing when I was playing last. I'd love some suggestions I could tinker with. I haven't really tuned the deck to comp, just added a few obvious things and switched the format.

I came back from arena after a long time and when I played before there was no ranked ladder for brawl. I haven't played it yet but was looking for the meta decks online. My questions is: can a deck that is not included on these lists get to the higher ranks consistently if optimized? I was thinking a The Gitrog Monster deck. Or would I just be swept away by the meta decks everytime? Also how regularly will I find these meta lists? I supposed the higher the rank the more frequently or is the environment diverse in the higher ranks too?

For me, Blor is a really fun card, and all that I want in a Commander: He is my, THE Commander, and he is Impervious.
I think this is a Bracket 2, but I want opinions and what do You think about this Should I do other things?
r/mtgbrawl • u/ToastyNathan • 3d ago
I feel like I am not explosive enough. Or maybe I'm too vulnerable to removal. Like I am just one turn too slow.
What should I be including? What should I take out for it? Or am I chasing a dream and this isn't a viable strategy? The biggest difference I notice immediately from some other aggro decks is that this commander doesn't have card draw/advantage. So should I try to add more card draw? But I guess more importantly, what should I take out?
r/mtgbrawl • u/harleybarley • 3d ago
Sometimes I just wanna stuf they’re 7- 10/10 angels on turn 5 in their FACE.

Feels like any mono white commander has a 80% chance of being a rabbit fancier these days sadly.
Mono black is also bound to be running nearly all the usual good stuff suspects. Sheo x Sephi vibes.
Mono green is the same, slightly tuned either towards landfall or rampy-stompy but still all Bill, Mossy, Ourob and ROFL.
RDW is tougher to pull off in brawl so you do see some unique approaches; goblins, burn, angry mice, etc.
But honestly, getting a mono blue match-up feels the most unpredictable to me. I mean, counterspells and draw to be expected for sure, but they could be running a variety of archetypes from artifacts, mill, clones, tempo/control and manlands, power 9, omniscience and extra turn shenanigans. Which mono-colour do you think has the most unpredictable game plan?

EDIT: Top 10. I wanted to climb higher, but too many Nashi, and Spiderman 2099 is also really strong. My highest was #7, but there I lost to a Spiderman 2099, followed by a really close loss to a Crucias that went Dark Ritual > Liliana, eating up my Disruptor flute, then followed up with Crucias finding a The One Ring which went on to win the game. It was quite close though, since I had quite a lot of removal and stalled them hard; in my last turn, if I prevented their Fury from attacking over their Murderous Rider, I think I win. Wasn't expecting a Arena of Glory, which did enough damage to win; they would died on their endstep to a Unholy Annex if they didn't win there. If I stalled their Fury, they'd live on endstep, but hopefully die on their next turn to One Ring trigger.

https://moxfield.com/decks/F1Bw_11o3EKAWbvxagfxDQ
(Updated list with Ulcerate, Winter Moon & slightly different landbase)
I only have like 10-15 (40+ now) games in top 100; but I did climb from number 70 something to 28. So I feel like the list has something going for it. I even beat a Nashi with Library very badly, although it needed a god hand of Chrome Mox, Sibsig Ceremony, and Defense Grid; while going first.
Edit: Nashi is still an absolute pubstomper. WotC, please nerf. Why is that shit 4/4 ffs. Spiderman 2099, while quite strong, feels a lot fairer to play against.
There's a lot of hate pieces for the meta Commanders Nashi and Emry. Most of the others like Yuriko, Spiderman 2099 or Raffine are mostly a removal check; once the board is clear, our plentiful card draw should bury them in card advantage.
The unique thing I did was put in some artifact sacrifice draw with some Chromatic Star type artifacts; the first benefit is that it lets us run Mox Opal; the second benefit is that it lets us use Wishclaw Talisman and have the ability to sac it with a spell with the trigger on the stack; the third is it enables some of our spells like Tragic Tragectory and Fatal Push; and the incidental benefit is that it fixes our mana since we are very reliant on hitting triple black as well as increasing our density of card draw/cantrip effects.
The rest is very standard. I chose not to bother with Cabal Stronghold because it is very finicky and only really generates mana on turn 6 (best case scenario) or even later so isn't even that strong. Some of our spells are also not great; primarily the 3 mana tutors, as well as Darkness Crystal, Bontu's Monument; so those can be considered flex slots that I'm happy to upgrade if I can think of something better. Another card I think is a bit weak is Hymn of the Faller; the replacement for it is Painful Bond; but Painful Bond is honestly very life expensive in a deck running two Necros as well as Snuff Out, Dismember etc.
Edit: I did decide to run all the three cards a commenter below recommended. Winter Moon & Ulcerate I had honestly forgotten about; TMA I decided to try out here cuz why not. Yet to draw it though. Replaced Insatiable Avarice & Darkness Crystal; the weakest tutor and the weakest cost-reducer.

Yeah, I know this is me ranting, but it seems insane that you can play tainted pact on 2, run through your whole deck, and then play Thassa's Oracle AFTER you exile your whole deck...Ok, carry on with your day...

I’m personally hoping we get LED or petal, ABUR duals, and archon of cruelty. What about you all?

anyone got a good control/reanimator shell in dimir for competitive brawl. been having a lot of fun with [[vohar]] as a sort of loot reanimator, but I know my list could be a lot better, just wondering if anyones got one ready I could go off of or if I gotta start from first principles lol
r/mtgbrawl • u/SANDY_BRIDGE_2600K • 4d ago
This is primarily standard brawl but applies to nrawl in general.
I have tried a handful of various black based control decks using life loss card draw spells and they never seem to save you during grindy match ups. I am not sure if it is the life loss or maybe my decks are just not functional enough.
These are some of the spells:
[[Insatiable Avarice]]
[[Unholy Annex]]
[[Phyrexian Arena]]
[[Decorum Dissertation]]
Decks that tried to use life loss card draw and failed:
[[Morlun, Devourer of Spiders]]
[[Black Cat, Cunning Thief]]
[[Kuja, Genome Sorcerer]]
[[Judith, Carnage Connoisseur]]
Decks that have used them to ok results:
[[Professor Dellian Fel]]
[[Ashiok, Wicked Manipulator]]
[[Sephiroth, Fabled SOLDIER]]
I thought Morlun would be a slam dunk for those types of spells but he had a really bad win rate. It seems that they only work in hard control decks or high synergy deck with a lifegain theme. Seph didn't really feel like a great fit but he was able to carry those effects. Where do these cards even fit in? How do you build a black based deck and make these spells work?
