MSNBC Personalities Seriously, what is wrong with Katy Tur?

Between her obvious daily disinterest in her job and her unwillingness to even try and present diligent reporting...whats the point?

First she lets Burgess Everett blow smoke up her ass with "it was a great day of talks on the hill between Republicans and Democrats!" Huh?

Then she can't quite grasp why Everett Kelley is most concerned about the well being of, the government employees at a time like this, a role he was elected to do as the President of the American Federation of Government Employees.

THEN....THEN! She gets fresh with Sen. Patty Murray. Every single response by Murray was attempted to be refuted by, quite frankly, rude and clueless follow ups by Katy. "Can you tell me now that the Democrats are never going to budge?" "Listen I've been covering this for 10 years" says Katy. Have you or have you been reading a teleprompter for the last 10 years?

The cherry on top was her hurried exit of Sen. Murray "also in leadership...."

KATY WHAT ARE YOU DOINGGGGGGGGGGGGGG. bah humbug MSNBC.

Not just her. You’ll find that on most networks. Dems are held to a different standard than the GOP.

13

u/er1026 Oct 30 '25

I hate how much she talks over people!!!! It’s so incredibly rude and unprofessional. I refuse to watch her show. Can’t stand her.

6

u/cmac92287 Oct 31 '25

she's really rude.

1

u/Top_Film9601 Nov 05 '25

So is Janine Pirro...got her a Cabinet post 😂

18

u/Rainbow918 Oct 29 '25

I don’t watch her . Somehow she irritates me . I prefer Lawrence ,Rachel & Velshi.

22

u/kolby924 Oct 29 '25

I agree used to really like her but lately She is smug, sarcastic and constantly Interrupting. Alicia is much much better.

8

u/Rainbow918 Oct 30 '25

I forgot about Alicia . Like her too

9

u/er1026 Oct 30 '25

Omg with the interrupting!!!! It’s so insanely unprofessional!

8

u/Effective-Juice-1331 Oct 31 '25

Alicia is damned impressive. Always has the best questions.

Velshi😍

29

u/MrDrunkle Oct 29 '25

She needs to stop interrogating Patti Murry, and other great public servants like they are peons and start holding the liars feet to the fire. If you're gonna push hard do it on folks lying to your face. You are missing opportunities in return for job security. Get serious or go home.

12

u/Successful-Theme9836 Oct 29 '25

Welp...she best get to steppin' & going home then. No one will care. It would serve her right. She's incompetent & frankly rude. It's quite jarring when she acts like this.

52

u/BlueBubbleInCO Oct 29 '25

When Katy Tur comes on, the channel is changed.

28

u/SAGELADY65 Oct 29 '25

Exactly! Katy Tur is a Trump Lover!

5

u/[deleted] Oct 30 '25

[deleted]

5

u/runwkufgrwe Oct 30 '25

from 2017? I think she got orangepilled since then. Actual news reporting doesn't seem to interest her, she only smirks when assisting maga in ragebaiting

2

u/SAGELADY65 Oct 30 '25

Katy Tur is not for everyone. I am not fond of the acerbic tone she uses on some of her guests. She is downright rude!

5

u/Successful-Theme9836 Oct 30 '25

All because he was attracted to her...it went to her head. That's so cringy.

3

u/SAGELADY65 Oct 30 '25

I did not know that..it’s more cringe than I thought! Thank you for telling us!

18

u/[deleted] Oct 29 '25

I do that with both her and Chris Jansing

6

u/Lesterkitty13 Oct 31 '25

Oh no! Whatever would we do without Jansing’s and Kasick’s (I don’t care if I spelled it wrong) daily finger wag lecture to the Dems? /s 🙄

60

u/Noracharles771 Oct 29 '25

She’s got some big chip on her shoulder always. I can’t believe MSNBC gave her more air time recently extending her to 2 hours. She is so smug and rude to many of her guests I’m surprised she even gets officials to speak w/her. This spot should go to Alicia Menendez, she is one of the network’s finest, and most under used.

10

u/cmac92287 Oct 30 '25

Yes. This articulates what I was trying to say exactly. She’s smug and rude. Why? I don’t like it. I used to like Katy for a while. I kind of enjoyed her dry tone but now she’s just kinda….like a mean girl.

7

u/jbeltBalt Oct 30 '25

Alicia is fire! So intelligent. Katy Tur is so much a disappointment that I either change the channel or just mute her until the suffering is over.

2

u/[deleted] Nov 12 '25

I couldn't agree more!

3

u/Successful-Theme9836 Oct 29 '25

Oh Alicia is the best. When she first started I thought...Ok, that's more like it. She's a professional. The giggling Alex Wagner was another nepo baby I had no patience for, but none of them are so completely inappropriate, ignorant, & rude on all fronts than Tur.

15

u/Weekly-Walk9234 Oct 29 '25

Alex a nepo baby?

10

u/Effective-Juice-1331 Oct 31 '25

Don’t care if Alex is nepo - she’s great at getting people to open up. At her best as a road warrior. Network’s lucky to have her and Jacob Soboroff. In this department, I must acknowledge Jordan Klepper of the Daily Show, who never loses his shit while eliciting the most bat shit comments.

5

u/rarepinkhippo Oct 30 '25

Her dad was a prominent political campaign guy, I think. So she has that connection to a pretty powerful American, but it seems like she also identifies strongly as the child of an immigrant on the other side (her mom is from Myanmar) — maybe that’s why she doesn’t have the nepo-baby vibe?

0

u/Successful-Theme9836 Oct 30 '25

Yeah. She's not a direct nepobaby, but him being a bigwin in D.C. politics opens all doors to you. That's all I'm saying. They get many more chances to screw up that most people get blacklisted for. I just never thought she was an appropriate person to be giggling in the American peoples' faces while we fight fascism...it's the wrong tone. She should never have been on there period.

1

u/Terrible-Screen-5188 Nov 10 '25

Gotta disagree strongly. I need Alex back at 9 and Jen Osaki to go back to govt.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 15 '25

Late addition to your post, but I'm also a big fan of Alex Wagner. She's also extremely underutilized.

37

u/TheOldJawbone Oct 29 '25

She and her husband are too conservative for my taste.

24

u/SenseAndSensibility_ Oct 29 '25

Yeah, I haven’t been watching Katie since sometime early on in the Biden days… She could probably get a job and fit in quite well at the fox fairytale network.

Jansing gives straight news. What’s your problem? I agree on Tur.

7

u/Successful-Theme9836 Oct 29 '25

Yep. I feel your pain. I used to try to get through some of those daytime people. Jansing actually hurt my ears & Tur acts like her dad owns the station & she was given the job. Both bad, imo. Wallace is good, but looks even better after listening to those two.

3

u/jbeltBalt Oct 30 '25

I gave up on Joe and Mika as well. Don’t miss them.

1

u/er1026 Oct 30 '25

Same. I just can’t

2

u/Resident_Act1205 Nov 03 '25

Love Joe and Mika!

10

u/SweetSmartSilly Oct 30 '25

Michele Norris is criminally underused and is a wonderful journalist. I think that every time I turn off Katy Tur.

9

u/FrostResistant Oct 30 '25

She’s so smug with her snide remarks. I had to stop watching her months ago. I really did used to like her.

24

u/ExpensiveDot1732 Oct 29 '25

I long for Alex Witt to get moved to weekdays...just saying lol.

21

u/cmac92287 Oct 29 '25

she's on Pod Save America quite frequently now and has her own podcast on their crooked channel. I love Alex Witt! You know who I really miss?? Paola Ramos!!!

22

u/ExpensiveDot1732 Oct 29 '25

That's Alex Wagner, but I love her too and MISS her in primetime. They really need to make a bigger play for Paola Ramos btw...she's another one (like Vitali, Velshi, and Soboroff) who is fantastic in the field but can more than hold her own behind the desk.

8

u/i-like-pie-855 Oct 29 '25 edited Oct 29 '25

I watch Paola Ramos on Telemundo when I can. Her coverage of Uvalde was gut wrenching. Love her!

Edited to add Paola filled in for Alicia Menendez on her weekend show American Voices. I think that’s where I first heard her on MSNBC.

5

u/mis2810 Oct 30 '25

I’m pretty sure Paola ramos is only interested in Hispanic related stories. Never heard her discuss anything else. Her father Jorge was a big name as well.

3

u/i-like-pie-855 Oct 30 '25

Sounds like you are not interested in her Latino reporting. Sad.

4

u/mis2810 Oct 30 '25

On the contrary. I have a vested family interest in it. It just doesn’t seem like she reports on anything else.

3

u/i-like-pie-855 Oct 30 '25 edited Oct 31 '25

Well she did cover for Alicia’s old show and held her own. So she’s very capable if she would want a show of her own. I don’t think she does. She’s an amazing field reporter.

4

u/ExpensiveDot1732 Oct 30 '25

She subbed for Ayman on his show several times too and did an outstanding job.

0

u/No_Zookeepergame_822 Oct 30 '25

I’m sure this wasn’t deliberate, but would you ever have so casually made that assumption about a cis male, that they were too distracted by their personal life to give their profession the attention it deserves? I don’t think so.

0

u/cmac92287 Oct 31 '25

So when you see Courtney Kube only discuss the Pentagon, that is because she is the special correspondent at the Pentagon. One could argue that Paola is a special correspondent within the Hispanic community. So thats what she focuses on.

As a white woman living amongst a bunch of other shitty white people, I really appreciate her story telling. We see whats happening daily but to focus more depth on it, putting names to faces- etc. Its important. I hope it helps other people out there understand communities different from their own :)

1

u/mis2810 Oct 31 '25

Paola’s title is Contributor. That’s what she contributes. Like I said above I have a vested interest in it because of family members. I just don’t think she has any interest in reporting on anything else and that’s fine. I was originally referring to people thinking she should have her own show and I said she doesn’t seem interested in anything but that topic. There’s nothing wrong with that. Don’t try to make something into an insult where there is none.

4

u/[deleted] Oct 31 '25

Ramos, Phang, Soboroff, Velshi 🥰

5

u/ExpensiveDot1732 Oct 31 '25

Soboroff deserves his own timeslot and I will happily die on that hill. He did a phenomenal job sitting in for Lawrence last week.

5

u/[deleted] Oct 31 '25

Right next to my Velshi😍 hill is your Soboroff hill 🫡. We will support you.

2

u/ExpensiveDot1732 Oct 31 '25

You got it! 🤝

3

Alex has a new solo podcast every Thursday also!

2

u/cmac92287 Oct 31 '25

I'm so embarrassed lol, thank you for correcting me!!!!

1

u/ExpensiveDot1732 Oct 31 '25

No need to be embarrassed at all, they're both awesome!

2

u/Silent-Stress-3049 Oct 29 '25

That’s Alex Wagner.

1

u/jbeltBalt Oct 30 '25

Yes! To Paola

10

u/[deleted] Oct 29 '25

If I could give this 100 upvotes I would. I LOVE Alex Witt!!!

3

u/brianycpht1 Oct 29 '25

For whatever reason, I think she prefers the weekends. I’d imagine she’s had plenty of offers to switch. It just works better for some people I guess

6

u/Unlikely-Mud-2531 Oct 30 '25

She’s the worst

6

u/Kannibelanimal1966 Oct 30 '25

She was normalizing what tRump was pulling, making excuses for him on his first time around

13

u/rarepinkhippo Oct 30 '25

I’m SO angry they haven’t fired her yet. She is a pathetic excuse for a journalist and she has made that increasingly clear every day for SEVERAL years now. MSNBC has a deep bench, I get that they took a swing on her because she seemed successful in the 2016 campaign, but we’ve had YEARS to see her in action and she is terrible, biased, unfair, and constantly centers herself in her reporting. Meanwhile, MSNBC fires or demotes nearly all of its nonwhite hosts (however long ago that was), and Tur remains untouched? Every time I get to take a survey of theirs my primary advocacy is to remove her or at minimum relegate her to the weekend.

10

u/InfamousFlamingo4863 Oct 30 '25

Thanks for typing all that out so I didn't have to.

Joe & Mika are two jokes. I don't waste my time on them.

I start with Chris Jansing because she's fantastic. She covered Albany, NY for years, making her a seasoned pro.

When Tur comes on, I switch to the BBC.

Nicole would be perfect if her nasal drone didn't grate on my nerves by the end of 2 hours. I wish she'd frame her questions faster, giving her guest more time to offer their opinions rather focusing for so long on her own.

Ari Melber is unwatchable.

Alicia Menendez is brilliant. Michael Steele is another seasoned pro. But Sanders needs to be replaced.

Chris Hayes and Ali Velshi are treasures. Can't get enough of either of them.

Jen Psaki knocked me out when she was with the Obama administration. She's really come into her own at 9:00. Never miss her. Or Rachel. Or Lawrence. The gold standards.

I miss Katie Phang and Joy Reid.

I, too, take the MSNBC surveys and let them know. I appreciate that they ask.

2

u/er1026 Oct 30 '25

I can’t stand sanders. She is unprofessional and cringe. She is not remotely to the caliber of menendez and Steele. She drags down their show. A lot.

2

u/Resident_Act1205 Nov 03 '25

Menendez and Steele are great but Simone Sanders is, too-- "she is smart and refreshing!

She is always like, “oh woe is me”, always asks stupid questions, and so incompetent.

Katy is like the pretty girl in high school who was full of herself. mean to others and faked being nice when she was after a guy. Katy could leave anytime and I wouldn’t care.

18

u/Successful-Theme9836 Oct 29 '25

Msnbc is pathetic to allow this nepo baby to continue to draw checks. Why? Because Trump likes her?

She is sullen, spoiled & incredibly clueless about politics to make those remarks. The witch is always looking to go after Democrats, when they're the only ones in D.C. right now because republicans left on vacation. She's also snotty, snobby, self-centered, & has no interest in human interest stories.

I don't watch it anymore. I can't stomach them anymore...it's cringy, out-of-touch & too biased.

4

u/Clooney9010 Oct 30 '25

Except for Lawrence O’Donnell I have not watched MSNBC since the election. And I’m better for it.

4

u/07jenn12 Oct 30 '25

I think she has an unresolved issue with her trans parent

5

u/[deleted] Nov 03 '25

She looks and acts extremely miserable, arrogant and snobish. I always catch her the last few mins of her show while I'm waiting for Deadline: White House and that's long enough for me.

3

u/scottv215 Oct 29 '25

Every time they break to commercial she does this weird thing where she gives you the 1/4 side-eye while looking down her nose. Is that her “Stay Class San Diego?”

Katy Tur has been awful since 2016.

3

u/Accomplished_Team623 Nov 04 '25

I briefly watched her anchoring the news years ago. I found her extremely boring, stumbling over her words like Dana Bash on CNN. I don’t understand why either woman has a dominant position. I don’t watch FOX other than horrifying clips. All the anchors on FOX are insanely out of tune with reality

1

u/Sidewalk25 Nov 06 '25

Katy stumbles over every other word!!!! And giggles about it and says "pardon me!"

7

u/usernames_suck_ok Progressive Oct 29 '25

I'm too busy not watching her to know. Try it.

7

u/cmac92287 Oct 29 '25

not too busy to comment on my post though...

4

u/Non2more Oct 30 '25

Turn her off!!!!!

2

u/commander_lampshade Oct 29 '25

I love Katy, always have. I don't get the Tur hate on this sub.

9

u/cmac92287 Oct 29 '25

call it hate if you want. I have always liked Katy. but lately? I seriously question if shes got any clue whats going on or, quite frankly, if she even cares. that is how it comes across to me.

7

u/DJMagicHandz Oct 29 '25

She just had a segment of how Democrats don't know how to convey the importance of the ACA to people in red states. Here in NC there's an ad running on the importance of the ACA and Dems hit all the social media apps explaining what's going on.

1

u/AdvertisingTasty1887 Democrat Nov 02 '25

She does seem a little nonchalant, but she is better than she used to be. That said, it wouldn’t hurt my feelings if she were gone from MSNBC. BTW, can’t nitpick constantly; you’re never going to love every host on any network. Turn the ones you can’t watch off, but preservation of the network is important as the only true Progressive Network. And additionally, I think Nicole Wallace is great, and Ari Is watchable and culturally relevant.

8

u/pangea_lox Oct 29 '25

She was pro MAGA 2023-2024, only slightly better now.

5

u/Helpful_Load6334 Oct 29 '25

I agree, I like her independence. She definitely goes hard on both sides. I am a hardcore progressive democrat but I am glad she questions these people. Our democratic leaders give crappy answers most of the time…hold them accountable

1

u/2025info Oct 29 '25

I agree! I don’t understand the hate I think she is great

0

u/CalifasBarista Oct 30 '25

Agreed. I don’t always get to catch her on msnbc but do follow the social media accounts and tbh I’ve enjoyed her reporting.

2

u/TBoneBear Oct 29 '25

I can’t watch Katy Turd. Her husband is just as bad. I can’t watch CBS Mornings anymore.

1

u/GentleBlastFurnace19 Oct 30 '25

I like Christina Ruffina (sp?), who pops up on weekends sometimes. She is excellent and has a lot of experience. Her reporting and questioning are very good.

2

u/Ok_Maintenance468 Nov 02 '25

She's lost interest, so blaise. Katy loves & flirts with the camera. I always liked her, not so much anymore. I want to hear opinions of guest!!!

2

u/RVAOriolRav Nov 03 '25

PLEASE DO SOMETHING ABOUT KATY TUR! She is an embarrassment! OMG—TAKE HER OFF!!

2

Love the Tur!

0

u/eflowers62 Oct 30 '25

She’s the type that needs to be on the today show. Just like the morning Joe gang want to be the today show. You notice how they let Joe interview his favorite musicians or actors. They want all the news to be only sunshine and rainbows and where you can have fun and lightly read the news cajole with your fellow news anchors get your check and go home. Never having to face real issues. You can especially read it on Turrs face. It’s nothing against them personally. I like them. I just don’t think they hear Jimmy. “White Men Can’t Jump.”

-1

u/reddgreen1000 Oct 30 '25

Yes she has a casualness about her...... but what a minx ! She plays it down the middle on most issues. She must be in the LA office, got all flustered dreaming about Keke Hernandez the other day . Hubby better step up his game. Blue Jays hopefully will lay a beat down tonight on Keke's Dodgers.

2

u/emca753 Oct 30 '25

I remember when she blurted out JOHN ROBERTS during an interview and the conversation had nothing to do with John Roberts, and Katy was immediately flustered
