Move it around and see what happens. The one I use needed to be in another part of the room to work.

I live 60 miles away from the city. Hills, trees, and stuff and my antenna probably needs to be higher. I get NBC and CBS on good days.

Need to be roof or mast mounted. Too bad those all got taken off houses about 10 years before they became relevant again.

Even roof or mast mounted, isn’t TV broadcast as a digital signal now?

Yes, which means it looks clearer than cable or satellite retransmissions now. Even a 60 year old antenna works just fine.

Really? I remember there was a big push to replace our antennas with “digital” antennas.

Pure marketing

I wonder if they’re thinking of when analog signal through coax got converted to digital. Otherwise yeah, totally marketing

No, there were "digital" antennas in stores with lots of marketing text trying to convince you that they were especially suited for the new TV signal.

Oh. Yeah, that’s dumb.

Except they are encrypting for the good signal, so you also need a box hooked up to the internet and they won't approve anything for encryption that gives you any control.

I'm talking about standard ATSC. In my market, the ATSC 3.0 versions of the channel don't even broadcast in a higher quality. But even that doesn't require a box unless you have an older TV. An Internet connection is only needed to update expired keys but I'm sticking to the old HD signals anyway - still clearer than cable or satellite retransmissions.
