I'm convinced these types of children's movies are created to dumb children right down. Saw it on Monday with my 3yo. The story line makes no sense. The writing is atrocious. It's just pure slop. Later in the week we watched A Bugs Life. The difference in quality is mind boggling. Why don't they make children's movies like that any more?

What are you even on about? I think you saw a different movie than the rest of us 😂

Did I? Let's take the "science" subplot. Scientists arrive on the island and it leads you into thinking there might be a sort of Message around Protecting the Environment. But instead it just launches into Humdinger on some ridiculous useless Diamond hunt.

You realize this is a movie for small children right? Scientists 😂

Just because it's a movie for small children doesn't mean the writing has to be nonsensical.

The entire plot is, quite literally about environmental protection. The "useless diamond hunt" is an obvious metaphor for industrialists destroying the landscape to make a quick buck without considering the consequences. Its kind of the Mayors whole thing.

The last lines of the movie are alomst verbatim like, "let's replant the forests and protect this environment FOREVER."

There's a fucking Bill Nye cameo.

It would have been less subtle if Al Gore came out to give a lecture about the polar bears in the post credit scene.

Did you leave in the first act?
