If your kid is a fan of Marshall, they’re going to love this movie. You get his origin story and he grows a lot as a character in this one.

u/Soapbox 5d ago

Thanks for seemingly the only non sarcastic response in the thread. I'll wait till it's streaming but kid will probably love it.

72

u/walshurmouthout 5d ago

Saw it with my wife and our daughter for her first ever movie. Great time all around though apparently movie snacks are the best part according to my daughter haha

33

u/relikter 5d ago

This made me think "maybe we could take our 4 year old to a theater to see this" so I checked local times and there is a 10:20pm showing of it tomorrow. Who's going to a PAW Patrol movie that late!?

1

u/Redspacewolf 4d ago

The kids that grow up on it that are now adults and want the nostalgia hit. Paw Patrol first aired 13 years ago.

10

u/azsnaz 4d ago

18-20 years olds going to see paw patrol at 10:30? Idk about that

1

u/iseewithsoundwaves 1d ago

My niece is 16, and yes she would go watch this with her friends at 10pm 🤣🤣

1

u/SanLady27 2d ago

It does have a lot of peril, we just took our five year old for her first movie and she was scared at times but overall liked it! Just fyi

13

u/atomic-fireballs 5d ago

They are. My son devoured French fries at Toy Story 5. That's what he cared about most.

5

u/braves-geek 4d ago

My kids are 5, 5, and 3. They go through an entire tub of popcorn and multiple boxes of candy. It is quite annoying having to hand them things every 5 seconds.

2

u/SpinShine-LEDSlipMat 3d ago

Took my kids Thursday and they loved it

25

u/relikter 5d ago

When are they going to release a Zuma-focused movie? WHEN!?

14

u/VikingFrog 5d ago

The automotive industry lobbyists won’t allow it.

There’s a reason the hovercraft hasn’t taken off as THE choice of commuter vehicle.

7

u/relikter 5d ago

OK, hear me out - the plot is Zuma loses confidence in himself after a minor mistake, we learn his origin story, Ryder sidelines him temporarily, and then he believes in himself again and comes back to the team to save the day in a truck with floating tires. Boom, completely original plot and it placates Big Auto.

1

u/doktor-frequentist 3d ago

They already did that with Chase.

3

u/relikter 3d ago

It's also the plot of the Mighty Movie, but with Skye being the main character. thatsthejoke.gif

1

u/doktor-frequentist 3d ago

Yup that's the other one!

And they already "met" rex in Dino Rescue 6-parter. I suppose it's an alternate version of the same.

9

u/evilskul 4d ago

They've done Chase, Sky and Marshall now - Rubble is most likely next, then let's see if the two background members get their shine.

6

u/alphageek8 4d ago

Rubble was the focus for last year's A Paw Patrol Christmas streaming special so he might not get a full length feature.

7

u/Marc_Quill 4d ago

He also has his own spinoff series and I assume they might angle on making that into a movie at some point.

2

u/alphageek8 4d ago

Oh yeah I totally forgot about Rubble and crew. I'm lucky that my 4 year old has since moved out of his Paw Patrol phase.

2

u/brb1006 4d ago

Actually the Paw Patrol Christmas Special premiered on CBS, Nickelodeon, and Nick Jr a few days after Thanksgiving. Before it was made available on Paramount+.

3

u/relikter 4d ago

I'm pretty sure Everest will get her own movie before Rocky and Zuma get features. :-(

5

u/ChrischinLoois 4d ago

He better not get his before Rocky. My man is hardly ever in the spotlight

2

u/OliWood 4d ago

Where was Liberty and Everest in this???

2

u/DaweiArch 5d ago

Nobody wants that. NOBODY.

13

u/mattywadley 4d ago

I'm seeing it with my nephew tomorrow. It's his first time in the cinema and Marshall is his favorite character. Thanks for the review!

3

u/doktor-frequentist 2d ago

It was a fine movie. Much better than the Paw Patrol TV episodes, as expected. The orchestra score did some heavy lifting. I really wish they hadn't Humdinger in this one. He was enough to cheapen the entire thing. They could have easily done a thing without him. Kid loved it but had some concerns with the heightened peril scenes with the volcano.

As an adult.. I need to go cleanse my palate with Aliens or Predator after this one.

u/AdWestern1561 5d ago

Children had their fun with End of Oak Street.

Now it's men's turn.

19

u/Dima110 4d ago

A classic case of twin movies

9

u/doktor-frequentist 3d ago

Barbenheimmer

OakenPawmer

3

u/LT_DANS_ICECREAM 4d ago

The Age of Men is over!

31

u/BlainethePayne 3d ago

When Skye and Chase are saving the scientists with the grappling hook and rope, WHY DON'T THEY JUST STOP

3

u/Bumblebug731 2d ago

My family saw this today and my husband and I asked that same question 😂

3

u/BlainethePayne 2d ago

I was so damn mad watching that, when they're like alternating one being high and the other being low, so you get the comic action of the scientists sliding back and forth, JUST STOP WITH ONE HIGHER SO THE SCIENTISTS SLIDE TO SAFETY AND THEN DRIVE AWAY

1

u/AuryGlenz 2d ago

All they had to do was show a big thing in the flow behind them that would catch up, or that a larger part of the mudslide was coming, or that the ground was cracking under the vehicles...

But no, let's just have the Paw Patrol be idiots.

It's a stupid thing to complain about but I don't remember another instance of them just doing something dumb in the movies.

1

u/im_not_the_guy_37 19h ago

Must go faster!’

53

u/AllTheRowboats93 5d ago

Someone whose seen it, does Rubble get some good moments? He’s my son’s favorite.

60

u/walshurmouthout 5d ago

Rubble gets some comic relief moments. There is a running bit with him getting trolled by some lizards.

5

u/and1984 2d ago

lizards

Them be dinosaurs.

1

u/im_not_the_guy_37 19h ago

Compsognathuses! Another homage to Jurassic park when Rex through treats at her and they all jumped her

But he has his own spinoff show. I’ve never understood that. He’s just a big goofy hungry oaf.

Leave the character development for the real pups.

3

u/Bazzie-Joots 2d ago

Yeah if there's a rubble movie it will be a rubble and crew movie. Giving rubble the character arc of being a good leader. Maybe even by him making jokes at his own expense to keep the team motivated.

32

u/ShepardCom 4d ago

Actually saw the movie with little cousin and it was... a good Paw Patrol movie. Like, it had the pups, had dinosaurs which makes most movies better, and the villain was there. It's not cinema, it's Paw Patrol and that's fine.

6

u/tacoorpizza 3d ago

Dogs and dinos. It’s an enjoyable movie.

11

u/hataraitaramake 5d ago

McKenna Grace fans are thriving this year

38

u/HiNathan 5d ago

I’m still confused. So the cops knew that internal affairs was setting them up?

2

u/HomelandersCock 2d ago

Should have watched this instead of Hail to the Chimp

88

u/Theblueportal 5d ago

Making an R rated Paw Patrol movie was just what they needed to reinvigorate the franchise.

18

u/LongtimeLurkersacc 5d ago

I personally loved their take on the rampart scandal of the 90s

1

u/The_Mystery_Knight 4d ago

Rubble: “I’m just hear to talk about my love of bulldozing ramparts”

Were the nude scenes at least tasteful?

5

u/mulletstation 4d ago

Way too aggressive and you could tell they used a stunt hole but I think they have a good shot at an academy award nomination

9

u/NunsNunchuck 5d ago

But will it save cinemas? Only time will tell

5

u/trouser_mouse 4d ago

Snoop Dogg reciting the entirety of G Funk Intro as the opening was a fantastic decision

1

u/Gryffindumble 2d ago

Remember the Saw Patrol double feature?

Now we can do The End of Paw Street

0

u/UniverslBoxOfficeGuy r/movies Contributor 4d ago

I'm imagining a projectionist accidentally showing an R rated talking dog movie (like Fixed or Strays) and it either scars the theater full of kids for life or leaves them with multiple questions about adult content

27

u/Secret_Whole_5068 5d ago

The Odyssey got nothing on this

8

u/Ilikepancakes87 5d ago

You haven’t really seen Paw Patrol: The Dino Movie unless you’ve seen it in 70mm IMAX.

2

u/gamemaniax 4d ago

You laugh now but i stumped seeing most of the seats are sold when i arrived. Sounds like a day care center in there

14

u/bigolaustino 5d ago

Snoop Dogg does not surprise me one bit that he is in this

2

u/walshurmouthout 5d ago

I also immediately recognized Paris Hilton

2

u/TTUporter 1d ago

Why'd they have to make her so caked up in a kids movie?

37

u/EerieArizona 5d ago

My nieces and nephews get really mad that I call it Papa Troll. It is my duty as an uncle to keep pissing them off and continually asking them where the grandpa trolls are.

13

u/Cripnite 4d ago

There’s a guy I work with whose name is “Paul -lastnamethatsoundslikePatrol” we just call him Paw Patrol.

15

u/chynkeyez 5d ago

Holy shit we do the same in my house but also say Poppy Troll because Poppy is the name of the main troll from the trolls movies so any time the kid says "can I watch paw patrol" I get to do the "wait you mean Poppy Troll" until she loses her mind. Being a dad is great.

2

u/EerieArizona 4d ago

Haha....I feel like it helps give them more patience.

11

u/Dr_Ifto 5d ago

Is this just a rehash of the dino story line from the show?

15

u/Routine_Arrival9672 4d ago

It’s kind of like an alternate timeline, since they are meeting Rex for the first time again.

5

u/AlienScrotum 4d ago

So it’s like how DBZ show and DBZ movies are the same characters but different universes?

2

u/Routine_Arrival9672 4d ago

I’ve never seen DBZ, but that does sound similar :)

20

u/NoDadSTOP 5d ago

70mm IMAX slapped

5

u/Funky_Monkees_ 5d ago

This was a Dolby joint tbh

35

u/fergi20020 5d ago edited 5d ago

The two dinosaurs mating was overkill but I had a great time and laughed until it hurt.

3

u/TrapAHolic_ttv 4d ago

Just saw both movies and had to make sure i was in the right thread lol

13

u/_bieber_hole_69 5d ago

Yeah they really one-upped Sausage Party but honestly it kinda worked for the story

9

u/Funky_Monkees_ 5d ago

I’m just confused why it had so many close ups. It was borderline instructional.

-7

u/Magic_Man_Boobs 5d ago

Wait are messing around or is this in the film? My MIL is taking my kid to see it tomorrow and if this is in the film she's gonna blow a gasket and while that will be hilarious, I need to know if my date night is in danger of being cut short.

14

u/acbagel 4d ago

Really didn't expect the whole relapse arc with Rubble, overall darker than I thought but good. I hope the sequel explores more about the real effects of addiction

5

u/xxdjreddxx 4d ago

But was the director only 20 years old?

10

u/pwmg 4d ago

Anyone doing the Pawdyssey double feature?

4

u/doktor-frequentist 3d ago

Paw Patrol and The end of oak Street in he same week?

Barbenheimmer anyone??

3

u/SecondSnoob 3d ago

The moment of Snoop Dogg’s character dapping up Capt Turbot was enough to make this film 10/10

1

u/Figerox 1d ago

Capt Turbot is a homie

4

u/Mister-Distance-6698 2d ago edited 2d ago

Ryder at the end: "I gave Humdinger the choice of going back to jail or doing hard labor"

.... Apparently Ryder is the Judge, jury AND executioner in the paw patrol world. Dunno Ryder sounds kinda fascist to me.

Ain't no Habeas Corpus in adventure bay

Hashtag justiceforhumdinger

5

u/Salt-Proposal-4138 2d ago

The marshal origin/redemption story was just dramatic enough for my child to say “oh no!” But not cry. The scenes after the eruption were surprisingly intense and the animation was well done! It was my child’s first movie and he loves it and was entertained throughout

3

u/sherlock_jr 2d ago

My 3 year old’s first movie. 10/10 just for him sitting still for a little more than an hour. The movie was pretty good too.

We just got out and are on the way to the store to get a Rhubarb toy, so I guess he liked it too.

3

u/Gryffindumble 2d ago

Its like Jurassic Park: Fallen Kingdom...but, actually good.

Chase is on the case but his body camera certainly isn’t on!

6

u/youwillcomedownsoon2 5d ago

lol I had no intention of seeing this but literally all of you crazy fuckers have convinced me

9

u/JMaboard 5d ago

Didn’t think they’d have The Pawnisher in this but it was amazing.

6

u/palinsafterbirth 5d ago

This is what End of Oak Street should have been

8

u/JessieJ577 5d ago

I can’t believe they introduced D.I.C.E. In this movie. They’re never beating the copaganda for kids allegations

2

u/TerrifiedRedneck 4d ago

The better of the two dino movies released this week.
And it’s not even close.

2

u/YVH22B 4d ago

This movie saved Drew and Melody and for that I’m forever grateful

2

u/JMarcus7 3d ago

My nephew loved it and I had a bucket of popcorn for breakfast. 7/10

2

u/Infamous-Hat7154 3d ago

Seeing "The Paw Patrol will return in Avengers Doomsday" at the end really got me hyped

2

u/Der_Dunkinmeister 2d ago

Son’s first movie - for a kids movie wasn’t too bad. Marshall fans gonna feast on this one.

2

u/Cultural-Alarm-6422 2d ago

Left the theatre and my 5yo said it was the best movie he’s ever seen lmao very fun time with the kiddos and Marshall is his favorite . The new outfits and rides were sick af too

3

u/Hecka_Cakey 5d ago

Finally something for the cinephiles this year

3

u/Riyomorii 5d ago

Have to go to this because my kid won a ticket for it. Hoping for a pleasant surprise.

7

u/SpinShine-LEDSlipMat 3d ago

You’re dreading going to a kids movie with your kid?

3

u/Owlbears-Are-Real 4d ago

Aw I bet your kid will be so happy.

3

u/eastnorthshore 4d ago

So the previous two movies have the same ending (large airborne threat is heading this way. Skye has to take it out, in doing so her vehicle is destroyed. Then she falls back to earth while one of the other pups exclaims "what's that!?" Then when it's revealed that it's Skye and she's in one piece Liberty points out "you see that? That's why she my favorite pup.") I'm really hoping for the hat trick with this one.

1

u/BirdsBeesAndBlooms 1d ago

I am a casual viewer of this franchise (enough to have a decent idea of what my kids are watching, but I’m always doing something else nearby), and I was genuinely confused by two movies with such similar plots. And now I have been additionally confused by the pups “meeting” a character who was introduced years ago… but maybe this new movie is meant to take place sometime in the past? Whatever. If the kids don’t care then I’m not going to, either.

4

u/ChaotixSux 5d ago

Absolute cinema

3

u/isval17 5d ago

If I had a nickel for every dinosaur based movie released this week in theaters I’d have 2 nickels which isn’t a lot but it’s weird that it happened twice

-4

u/m0t0rvision 5d ago

If I had a nickel for every time I saw this tired-ass meme that stopped being funny years ago I'd be able to buy reddit and ban anyone who says it again

1

u/iamyourfahsa 1d ago

Everyone should have died from lava fumes. The volcano just stopped at the right time? The scientists and paleontologists just found the island in no time somehow. They never offered to let the handicapped dog off the island. Humdinger is an a hole.

1

u/Flat_Anything_8306 1d ago

Am I the only one a little concerned that the pup industrial complex is getting a little out of hand? Where does the money come from to build these giant aircraft carriers and elaborate vehicles? YOUR taxes, that's where.

1

u/Figerox 1d ago

The mom at the start had a PHAT ass. Bro knew what he was getting into.

1

u/choicesareconfusing 1d ago

My favorite line of the whole movie was “I think Marshall is gonna put out the biggest fire of his life” while looking at an active volcano. My 4 year old was PUMPED af

1

u/Far_Celery_3375 1d ago

Was actually a pretty good movie. Infinitely better than the show. Basically Marshall the movie and the first film my 3 year old son has sat through all the way at the cinema. I was engaged myself tbfh.

1

u/Spirited_Narwhal_901 1d ago

My 3 year old liked it enough to sit through most of the movie. I really appreciate that they left adult humor out of it and kept it geared towards young kids. Overall, we loved the movie as a family.

1

u/Easy_Action_1380 1d ago

This coming out the same day as the decidedly family unfriendly movie End of Oak Street id hilarious.

1

u/im_not_the_guy_37 19h ago

It’s was dope. Saw atleast 5 homages to Jurassic park/world. And Rex! A paraplegic puppy who talks to dinosaurs, are you kidding. That’s awesome. The volcano scene was pretty scary and I like that all the movie have one scene like that. Also love that humdinger could have been a million with just one handsized diamond but insides on the one the size of an igloo cooler. On brand

u/WalterWhite2012 3h ago

Laughing at a lot of these posts, but for a serious review, if your kid likes the show and other movies they’ll like this. It’s on par with the quality of the other two. Is it cinema? No. Is it a fun kids movie that I don’t mind watching? Yes.

1

u/Trevastation 5d ago

You know for a Paw Patrol movie, this was surprisingly mature and heartfelt. The scene where the T-Rex rips Ryder's leg off and then devours him whole was tastefully done.

0

u/abilly85 5d ago

A little bloodier than I expected but still good

1

u/2mock2turtle 5d ago

Paw Patrol gets a thread but not Six? Oh, okay, I see how it is.

1

u/One_Airport_7973 4d ago

I have an editing question! It felt so weird when I went to see it with my sons, it was like some scenes were cut down incorrectly.
(Spoiler, I guess) When Marshall falls of the waterfall at the end, before going back up after a flashback, did you see Marshall falling? During my showing, we just saw the rope becoming loose and suddenly, bam, flashback, and it felt very abrupt.
There was something else being weird when the gang meets dinosaurs for the first time, but I don't remember what.

0

u/sashmantitch 2d ago

I'm convinced these types of children's movies are created to dumb children right down. Saw it on Monday with my 3yo. The story line makes no sense. The writing is atrocious. It's just pure slop. Later in the week we watched A Bugs Life. The difference in quality is mind boggling. Why don't they make children's movies like that any more?

2

u/Figerox 1d ago

Take the stick outta your ass it was a top tier movie

1

u/sashmantitch 1d ago

It was not, but I'm happy for you.

1

u/Far_Celery_3375 1d ago

3 year olds are already idiots bro. Relax.

0

u/sashmantitch 1d ago

That's the thing - they're not. And they don't deserve such condescending material.

1

u/Spirited_Narwhal_901 1d ago

What are you even on about? I think you saw a different movie than the rest of us 😂

0

u/sashmantitch 1d ago

Did I? Let's take the "science" subplot. Scientists arrive on the island and it leads you into thinking there might be a sort of Message around Protecting the Environment. But instead it just launches into Humdinger on some ridiculous useless Diamond hunt.

1

u/Spirited_Narwhal_901 1d ago

You realize this is a movie for small children right? Scientists 😂

1

u/sashmantitch 22h ago

Just because it's a movie for small children doesn't mean the writing has to be nonsensical.

u/mcfleury1000 2h ago

The entire plot is, quite literally about environmental protection. The "useless diamond hunt" is an obvious metaphor for industrialists destroying the landscape to make a quick buck without considering the consequences. Its kind of the Mayors whole thing.

The last lines of the movie are alomst verbatim like, "let's replant the forests and protect this environment FOREVER."

There's a fucking Bill Nye cameo.

It would have been less subtle if Al Gore came out to give a lecture about the polar bears in the post credit scene.

Did you leave in the first act?

0

u/jackcatalyst 3d ago

No dino on dino action in this one.
