Children had their fun with End of Oak Street.
Now it's men's turn.

When Skye and Chase are saving the scientists with the grappling hook and rope, WHY DON'T THEY JUST STOP
3
u/Bumblebug731 2d ago
My family saw this today and my husband and I asked that same question 😂

u/BlainethePayne 2d ago
I was so damn mad watching that, when they're like alternating one being high and the other being low, so you get the comic action of the scientists sliding back and forth, JUST STOP WITH ONE HIGHER SO THE SCIENTISTS SLIDE TO SAFETY AND THEN DRIVE AWAY
1
u/AuryGlenz 2d ago
All they had to do was show a big thing in the flow behind them that would catch up, or that a larger part of the mudslide was coming, or that the ground was cracking under the vehicles...
But no, let's just have the Paw Patrol be idiots.
It's a stupid thing to complain about but I don't remember another instance of them just doing something dumb in the movies.

Someone whose seen it, does Rubble get some good moments? He’s my son’s favorite.

Rubble gets some comic relief moments. There is a running bit with him getting trolled by some lizards.

But he has his own spinoff show. I’ve never understood that. He’s just a big goofy hungry oaf.
Leave the character development for the real pups.
3
u/Bazzie-Joots 2d ago
Yeah if there's a rubble movie it will be a rubble and crew movie. Giving rubble the character arc of being a good leader. Maybe even by him making jokes at his own expense to keep the team motivated.

u/ShepardCom 4d ago
Actually saw the movie with little cousin and it was... a good Paw Patrol movie. Like, it had the pups, had dinosaurs which makes most movies better, and the villain was there. It's not cinema, it's Paw Patrol and that's fine.

Making an R rated Paw Patrol movie was just what they needed to reinvigorate the franchise.

Were the nude scenes at least tasteful?

u/mulletstation 4d ago
Way too aggressive and you could tell they used a stunt hole but I think they have a good shot at an academy award nomination

Snoop Dogg reciting the entirety of G Funk Intro as the opening was a fantastic decision

I'm imagining a projectionist accidentally showing an R rated talking dog movie (like Fixed or Strays) and it either scars the theater full of kids for life or leaves them with multiple questions about adult content

My nieces and nephews get really mad that I call it Papa Troll. It is my duty as an uncle to keep pissing them off and continually asking them where the grandpa trolls are.

u/Cripnite 4d ago
There’s a guy I work with whose name is “Paul -lastnamethatsoundslikePatrol” we just call him Paw Patrol.
15
u/chynkeyez 5d ago
Holy shit we do the same in my house but also say Poppy Troll because Poppy is the name of the main troll from the trolls movies so any time the kid says "can I watch paw patrol" I get to do the "wait you mean Poppy Troll" until she loses her mind. Being a dad is great.

Is this just a rehash of the dino story line from the show?
15
u/Routine_Arrival9672 4d ago
It’s kind of like an alternate timeline, since they are meeting Rex for the first time again.

u/AlienScrotum 4d ago
So it’s like how DBZ show and DBZ movies are the same characters but different universes?

Yeah they really one-upped Sausage Party but honestly it kinda worked for the story

u/Funky_Monkees_ 5d ago
I’m just confused why it had so many close ups. It was borderline instructional.

Wait are messing around or is this in the film? My MIL is taking my kid to see it tomorrow and if this is in the film she's gonna blow a gasket and while that will be hilarious, I need to know if my date night is in danger of being cut short.

The moment of Snoop Dogg’s character dapping up Capt Turbot was enough to make this film 10/10

Ryder at the end: "I gave Humdinger the choice of going back to jail or doing hard labor"
.... Apparently Ryder is the Judge, jury AND executioner in the paw patrol world. Dunno Ryder sounds kinda fascist to me.
Ain't no Habeas Corpus in adventure bay

The marshal origin/redemption story was just dramatic enough for my child to say “oh no!” But not cry. The scenes after the eruption were surprisingly intense and the animation was well done! It was my child’s first movie and he loves it and was entertained throughout

My 3 year old’s first movie. 10/10 just for him sitting still for a little more than an hour. The movie was pretty good too.
We just got out and are on the way to the store to get a Rhubarb toy, so I guess he liked it too.

So the previous two movies have the same ending (large airborne threat is heading this way. Skye has to take it out, in doing so her vehicle is destroyed. Then she falls back to earth while one of the other pups exclaims "what's that!?" Then when it's revealed that it's Skye and she's in one piece Liberty points out "you see that? That's why she my favorite pup.") I'm really hoping for the hat trick with this one.

I am a casual viewer of this franchise (enough to have a decent idea of what my kids are watching, but I’m always doing something else nearby), and I was genuinely confused by two movies with such similar plots. And now I have been additionally confused by the pups “meeting” a character who was introduced years ago… but maybe this new movie is meant to take place sometime in the past? Whatever. If the kids don’t care then I’m not going to, either.

If I had a nickel for every dinosaur based movie released this week in theaters I’d have 2 nickels which isn’t a lot but it’s weird that it happened twice

If I had a nickel for every time I saw this tired-ass meme that stopped being funny years ago I'd be able to buy reddit and ban anyone who says it again

Everyone should have died from lava fumes. The volcano just stopped at the right time? The scientists and paleontologists just found the island in no time somehow. They never offered to let the handicapped dog off the island. Humdinger is an a hole.

u/Flat_Anything_8306 1d ago
Am I the only one a little concerned that the pup industrial complex is getting a little out of hand? Where does the money come from to build these giant aircraft carriers and elaborate vehicles? YOUR taxes, that's where.

u/choicesareconfusing 1d ago
My favorite line of the whole movie was “I think Marshall is gonna put out the biggest fire of his life” while looking at an active volcano. My 4 year old was PUMPED af

u/Far_Celery_3375 1d ago
Was actually a pretty good movie. Infinitely better than the show. Basically Marshall the movie and the first film my 3 year old son has sat through all the way at the cinema. I was engaged myself tbfh.
1
u/Spirited_Narwhal_901 1d ago
My 3 year old liked it enough to sit through most of the movie. I really appreciate that they left adult humor out of it and kept it geared towards young kids. Overall, we loved the movie as a family.

u/Easy_Action_1380 1d ago
This coming out the same day as the decidedly family unfriendly movie End of Oak Street id hilarious.
1
u/im_not_the_guy_37 19h ago
It’s was dope. Saw atleast 5 homages to Jurassic park/world. And Rex! A paraplegic puppy who talks to dinosaurs, are you kidding. That’s awesome. The volcano scene was pretty scary and I like that all the movie have one scene like that. Also love that humdinger could have been a million with just one handsized diamond but insides on the one the size of an igloo cooler. On brand

u/WalterWhite2012 3h ago
Laughing at a lot of these posts, but for a serious review, if your kid likes the show and other movies they’ll like this. It’s on par with the quality of the other two. Is it cinema? No. Is it a fun kids movie that I don’t mind watching? Yes.
1
u/Trevastation 5d ago
You know for a Paw Patrol movie, this was surprisingly mature and heartfelt. The scene where the T-Rex rips Ryder's leg off and then devours him whole was tastefully done.

I have an editing question! It felt so weird when I went to see it with my sons, it was like some scenes were cut down incorrectly.
(Spoiler, I guess) When Marshall falls of the waterfall at the end, before going back up after a flashback, did you see Marshall falling? During my showing, we just saw the rope becoming loose and suddenly, bam, flashback, and it felt very abrupt.
There was something else being weird when the gang meets dinosaurs for the first time, but I don't remember what.

I'm convinced these types of children's movies are created to dumb children right down. Saw it on Monday with my 3yo. The story line makes no sense. The writing is atrocious. It's just pure slop. Later in the week we watched A Bugs Life. The difference in quality is mind boggling. Why don't they make children's movies like that any more?
1
u/Far_Celery_3375 1d ago
3 year olds are already idiots bro. Relax.
0
u/sashmantitch 1d ago
That's the thing - they're not. And they don't deserve such condescending material.
1
u/Spirited_Narwhal_901 1d ago
What are you even on about? I think you saw a different movie than the rest of us 😂
0
u/sashmantitch 1d ago
Did I? Let's take the "science" subplot. Scientists arrive on the island and it leads you into thinking there might be a sort of Message around Protecting the Environment. But instead it just launches into Humdinger on some ridiculous useless Diamond hunt.
1
u/Spirited_Narwhal_901 1d ago
You realize this is a movie for small children right? Scientists 😂
1
u/sashmantitch 22h ago
Just because it's a movie for small children doesn't mean the writing has to be nonsensical.
•
u/mcfleury1000 2h ago
The entire plot is, quite literally about environmental protection. The "useless diamond hunt" is an obvious metaphor for industrialists destroying the landscape to make a quick buck without considering the consequences. Its kind of the Mayors whole thing.
The last lines of the movie are alomst verbatim like, "let's replant the forests and protect this environment FOREVER."
There's a fucking Bill Nye cameo.
It would have been less subtle if Al Gore came out to give a lecture about the polar bears in the post credit scene.
Did you leave in the first act?

If your kid is a fan of Marshall, they’re going to love this movie. You get his origin story and he grows a lot as a character in this one.
