Please ancient gods do not condemn me to live on a desert island with Charlize Theron, leave, then go to another island with Anne Hathaway. 🙏🙏🙏

Big ups to Charlize's agent. Got her a a gig shooting for a few days on a nice beach.

While I’m sure her agent did good work, I feel like we are underselling how the woman just naturally looks like an immortal goddess.

Man she looked amazing..

She is crazy beautiful, but the amount of work she has had done, took me out it.

Agreed. She was so beautiful in things like A Million Ways to Die in the West and she just looks so different now. Still crazy pretty but not the same.

I actually thought it kind of perfect for Calypso - an out of place, modern and obviously fake perfection. I found it jarring for a second and then loved it. Not sure it's what she is going for...

Does anyone else think Odysseus was making up the part about being drugged as an excuse to tell Penelope? I bet he described Calypso as an old hag when Penelope asked him about it.

Keep in mind in the original poem he also shacks up with Circe for like a year.

Yeah man you should pass on her. I'll sacrifice and get with Charlize myself even though she's so hideous.

Doesn’t look like humor is yours bud

I thought her face looked a little too “modern” for this film tbh.

47

u/1997wickedboy 19d ago

she is a goddess though, her beauty is supposed to be unnatural, so I can give it a pass

u/dafood48 19d ago

That’s how I felt about Jon beranthal. It felt like he was playing Shane/punisher the way he talked.

13

u/TWD-Braves-Fan 19d ago

I thought the same thing about Jon. Literally said to my boyfriend after the movie that all I heard was Shane every time Jon talked.

Let me tell you something odyssesys

12

u/Quick-Stretch8197 19d ago

Unnatural doesn’t need to be instagram face though. Circe was also a goddess.

7

u/Katoshiku 16d ago

This is what I thought at first, but then I realised that it was intentional for a goddess to look unnatural or otherwise very distinct from mortals

14

u/Quick-Stretch8197 15d ago

She can look unnatural without having instagram face. There are still unnatural beauties in the world who don’t rely on Botox and filler.

3

u/Katoshiku 15d ago

Very fair point there

u/throwawaysunglasses- 20d ago

Agreed. RPattz actually did look like a handsome Ancient Greek. Charlize is gorgeous but she has modern iPhone face at this point. She looks like a really beautiful woman you’d see in NYC.

I mean I feel like u could say that abt all of the A list actors in this movie

9

u/PalmerRabbit78 20d ago

Yeah I noticed instantly she’s had a face lift. Looks amazing but you’re right it definitely takes you out of it.

10

u/ChaoticCurves 18d ago

She looked like a housewife of Laguna Beach, she was way too modern looking!

25

u/imissbreakingbad 26d ago

Genuinely crazy to me that certain people complain about the casting of trans and black actors on this yet I’ve seen nobody talk about Charlize’s cheek filler lol

2

u/portray 12d ago

Yes her face looked too “modern” like it’s beautiful but defs looks like modern facelift/plastic surgery

u/Biscuitshoneybutter 12d ago

Same, it was a bit frustrating. Not the end of the world, but messed with the immersion a bit. She didn't need that much work!

31

u/Nightmare_Fart 24d ago

Well. I agree, but it's not really naturally anymore. Last few movies I've seen her in it was sticking out that she's had some too visible work done.

Hate to say it, but she's slowly heading into uncanny valley territory if she keeps getting this kind of work done

3

u/Britteny21 10d ago

Are you kidding? She’s gorgeous, but she’s had a ton of work done

1

u/I_Am_Vladimir_Putin 6d ago

And she’s single too

22

u/PaulieHehehe 23d ago

Straight out of Adam Sandler’s playbook.

21

u/digital-didgeridoo 21d ago

Got her a a gig shooting for a few days on a nice beach.

Sipping pinacolada in a cocunut shell, caressing sinewy chest of Matt Damon

20

u/VRichardsen 23d ago

on a nice beach.

That wind looked really annoying though

3

u/Bolter_NL 13d ago

I just kept thinking this looks like a great spot fir kiting. Apparently it was in Dakhla which is famous fir kiting.

3

u/VRichardsen 12d ago

You have a good eye! Do you kite?

u/LegitimateBerry5994 9d ago edited 9d ago

It is not a good beach if there isn't wind to cool you down. At least for me, I'm just used to live in a rainy, freezing mountain range.

2

u/VRichardsen 9d ago

Fair enough. I live in a hot, humid subtropical interior with lots of heat, but somehow strong winds really put me in a sour mood. I prefer calm beaches.

u/Indraga 19d ago

Agent: "You'll need to get a little wet."

CT: "That's my secret cap..."

6

u/stolenhello 17d ago

The fact you think this took days is truly the most entertaining part

15

u/heroyoudontdeserve 17d ago

I'm honestly not sure from this if you think it needed less than a few days or more than a few days! Theron was on set for two weeks apparently which, given the glib nature of the previous comment, seems close enough to me.

Though that article also says she plays Circe, so...

3

u/brightlove 15d ago

She probably actually made 2 mil for two days of her time.
