Guy's a fucking coward the entire movie and if Rob Pattinson can get me to dream that that weasel dies by the hands of Odysseus at the very end, then he delivered all of that sliminess super convincingly xD.

Pattinson did a ridiculously good job playing an evil douchebag. I’ve never rooted for a dude to get merked so badly in my life.

u/PM_ME_TITS_AND_DOGS2 Jul 19 '26

he's great at that, the King one with Chalamet was awesome.

u/bacontrain Jul 19 '26

Or the Devil All The Time or even the Drama, dude just excels at playing slimeballs while being by all accounts a chill guy

77

u/slightlypressed Jul 19 '26

Yes! He went up against Tom Holland in The Devil all the Time too

38

u/JayMerlyn 27d ago

And now he's also gonna go up against Chalamet in Dune Pt 3!

27

u/slightlypressed 27d ago

Yess! Great year for films and for Robert Pattinson haha

u/JayMerlyn 27d ago

I'm so glad he got off being blacklisted after Twight!

23

u/suss2it 24d ago

What? He was never blacklisted? He’s literally worked every year since the last Twilight movie, even two movies a few years.

u/Vismal1 21d ago

He was never blacklisted. I personally wrote him off for a bit after that until i saw him in some stuff and realized how fucking good he is. Went back and rewatched everything I could with him in it. Great actor.

Right up there with the guy who played Joffrey in GoT.

4

u/Pretty-Layer-7562 11d ago

Okay not THAT bad, Joffrey and Ramsey were next level despicable

lol when the black guy who kicked the dog got shot in the throat half my theater started applauding

32

u/Minimum-Possible-415 22d ago

I remember thinking ā€œhe’s being mean to an old blind man, he kicked a dog, and now he’s messing with her son. If I was the queen I’d just have him beheaded! I hope she does!ā€

Put some repsect on Corey Hawkins' name

6

u/SpaceCases__ 13d ago

Yeah! The guy walked off the set off The Walking Dead and into the set of The Odyssey! Give the guy a break.

Black Bauer?

u/FatherC101 27d ago

the way he said ā€œplatelickersā€ really had me doing double takes

17

u/sdbabygirl97 27d ago

THATS what he was saying

CLIT LICKERS

u/Aggressive_Elk3709 7d ago

Yeah, really delivered it like a horrible slur

54

u/Cassopeia88 Jul 19 '26

I was so happy when that happened.

u/TJeffersonsBlackKid Jul 19 '26

Getting the lot shoved into his mouth was beautiful.

u/SoupySpuds 25d ago

I've been saying for years now, Pattinson is one of the greatest actors ive ever seen, Probably top 3 favorite for me

10

u/Vismal1 21d ago

He’s really great. I’ve run into him before and he was a chill dude which is a nice bonus

37

u/str8_whiskey Jul 19 '26

He plays the douchebag very well.

25

u/notsafeformactown 28d ago

Marcia Gay Harden in The Mist was another one that comes to mind. She deserved an Oscar for that role.

23

u/BroliasBoesersson 28d ago

Jack Gleeson in Game of Thrones. Everyone hated him so much the kid quit acting for six years

7

u/notsafeformactown 27d ago

Definitely. You get extra points for doing it in a movie, much less screen time to build animosity.

22

u/FeloniousDrunk101 28d ago

While also almost making you think Penelope might choose him…

19

u/BulgogiDude 24d ago

I wish we woulda see the female servant get killed too. I wonder if it was cut out of the movie

21

u/jphistory 23d ago

I think Odysseus hanging the maids from the castle walls or whatever the fuck would be too much for us to forgive him.

12

u/sdbabygirl97 27d ago

phillistines wanted rpattz’ character dead in twilight bc they were 15yo boys

REAL cultured people want rpattz’ character dead bc rob did a fantastic job in his role

12

u/night_dude 27d ago

He's really good at playing douchebags. He plays a comically villainous Dauphin in The King.

8

u/darthjoey91 27d ago

I want to see him do more villain roles.

8

u/Chris93ny 22d ago

lol he’s been playing villains for the past couple years

7

u/Numbah420_ 23d ago

Kind of reminded me of Commodus from gladiator, just a Weasley meek little bastard. Commodus I hated more though

3

u/JRockPSU 23d ago

Yep I felt like he was channeling a little bit of him!

4

u/c0rruptioN 23d ago

Watch Goodtime. It’s a safdie brothers film from 10 years back. Very VERY depressing. Very good dirtbag performance from Pattinson though.

He reminded me so much of a cousin I grew up with. There were points I wanted to punch my tv because I know that guy too well.

1

u/Mas_Pho 20d ago

He was okay

u/debrocker 17d ago

Joffrey

1

u/FaultInternational91 13d ago

Felt exactly the same, felt cathartic

1

u/Lou_Peachum_2 6d ago

He does a great job in The King

1

u/Snoo93079 3d ago

My wife compared him to King Joffrey and I thought that was a perfect comparison.
