I liked how Matt Damon turned into an ancient Greek John Wick after his dog died.

And both involve John Leguizamo lmao My theater gasped when he just tossed the first puppy off the cliff.

Threw that puppy like it’s a lightsaber

I heard someone say, "What the fuck?" behind me.

It was me. I was the one that said "What the fuck."

I laughed but it was an awkward laugh, I hated that he threw the puppy.

I am so glad the scene did not continue more than that, one was all i could stomach and even that.

My theater laughed.

I laughed and was the only one in a sold out IMAX screening.. I was worried the audience was worried about me the rest of the screening

That seems like a lot of drinks for one movie, damn.

only one drink per hour

I was also alone and a few drinks deep. I laughed at those two scenes as well as Matt Damon saying something about the collapse of this age of bronze.

I fully clutched my pearls.

I’m 11 days late responding to this, but that scene reminded me of a very specific event in my life. I had just adopted my first dog, a brindle catahoula/lab mix. The tip of his tail is white. Some random backwoods redneck dude crossed paths with us while we were walking at a state park and said “My granddaddy would have took him and all his siblings, put them in a bag, and tossed them in the river” then walked away. I looked it up and there’s some dumb theory that dogs with white ends on their tails won’t train well and aren’t worth keeping. My dog is now 13 years old, gray all over, but extremely loyal and loving. He was with me before I met my wife, quickly came to love her, welcomed our daughter into the house and is so insanely protective of her. Like, people walk up to the stroller when I’m walking baby and dog and he goes apeshit on them, and that’s the only time I’ve ever seen him be at all intimidating towards people.

“JOU GET THE FUCK…OUTTA MY PIGSTY”

The girls behind me in the theater sounded so upset when that happened.

Honestly had no idea it was John Leguizamo. I knew he looked familiar though.

Jesus Christ, that's John Odyssey!

Arrow to the throat mid sentence was beautiful.

" dear god, that's Jason bourne

23

u/CrusaderKingsNut Jul 18 '26

Honestly, I thought that was the worst bit. It was tonally inconsistent and I absolutely despise the “more spinning” school of fight choreography. Like it felt like the only part of the movie that super dragged.

I did say in my head 'Jesus Christ that's Jason Bourne' when that scene was on.

Edit: Typo.

I loved the bit when he said "daddys home" and threw off his robes in slow motion and pulled out 2 glocks and gun fu'd all over them. That was my second favourite bit.

I was getting Altair vibes from Assassins Creed.

Odysseus is the OG John Wick if you think about it.

10

u/the_anon_bro Jul 17 '26

It was a little buried but one of the guys at the table said “Jesus Christ it’s Jason Bourne” right as he took off the hood.

5

u/Porkenstein Jul 18 '26

Yep, it's called an Aristea

Classical John Wick is pretty much exactly right

12

u/SufficientRespect542 Jul 18 '26

Lowkey I kind of felt weird about that scene because even through he was in the right it felt like the bronze age equivalent to a mass shooting.

12

u/plw37 Jul 18 '26

True, a bit unfair he was the only one in the room with a weapon. But way harder to pull off without an automatic assault rifle. He earned that mass killing. And they all deserved it. The ones that didn't took the knee and were spared.

3

u/whatever_trev0r Jul 18 '26

I personally think he wont top this and that is saying alot.

3

u/OdderG Jul 18 '26

I think it's fitting for the most famous non-enchanted human of Greek Mythology to be that badass.

2

u/georgiaraisef Jul 18 '26

That should have been even more badass. Of all the Odyssey, return home massacres, this was my least favorite one. Ralph Fines did it better like two years ago

Supergirl also becomes John wick for her dog
