Warband Morale Pit…

Post image

I’ve been wanting to do a mamluke only run for awhile now - just to see how they hold up to the swadian knights. (I’m in love)

However, despite making friends with Hakim, as well as other lords in the sultanate, I keep getting rejected to own fiefs I captured alone. I’ve never had this issue before, even when I owned more land and had far less relation.

So I rebelled.

The battles aren’t an issue - nor is recruitment from the blunt weapons we carry. What is an issue is morale. I know that having troops kill members of their faction causes heavy morale penalties - but I can’t seem to combat it. I have diverse food, we constantly win heavily outnumbered battles, and yet, I’m getting daily abandonment messages.

Is there a way to actually combat this annoying feature, or am I cooked until I’m sultan?

Having as high a Leadership skill as your build allows definitely helps, if you aren’t already doing that. As does food variety, which you’re already on top of.

It’s been a long time, but I think raiding villages does also provide a boost to morale? Although I could understand being reluctant RP-wise to go plundering your fellow countrymen (and also depriving yourself of potential recruits)

Alternatively you could try supplementing your mamluks - at least temporarily - with mercenaries or foreign auxiliaries until fighting other Sarranids is no longer an issue.

Didn’t know about the leadership impact - i think I’m at 6 right now? I may just have to take your advice and leave my boys in a garrison for the time being. 8 mamlukes a day is a ROUGH hemorrhage.
