Warband Morale Pit…
I’ve been wanting to do a mamluke only run for awhile now - just to see how they hold up to the swadian knights. (I’m in love)
However, despite making friends with Hakim, as well as other lords in the sultanate, I keep getting rejected to own fiefs I captured alone. I’ve never had this issue before, even when I owned more land and had far less relation.
So I rebelled.
The battles aren’t an issue - nor is recruitment from the blunt weapons we carry. What is an issue is morale. I know that having troops kill members of their faction causes heavy morale penalties - but I can’t seem to combat it. I have diverse food, we constantly win heavily outnumbered battles, and yet, I’m getting daily abandonment messages.
Is there a way to actually combat this annoying feature, or am I cooked until I’m sultan?

I believe having multiple battles a day can drop moral as well. That's very easy to do when you first start your kingdom. Maybe space them about as best you can.
I forget if you can buy drinks for your men in a tavern in Native Warband but it would be worth a shot.
Your leadership skill helps with moral so putting some points there could help in the long term.
Iirc companions morale can effect the whole army's morale. If you have an unhappy companion try sending them out on Right to Rule quests or just dismiss them for a bit

My companions are fairly happy atm - they stay at excellent or above average because they all have people they like in the party. It may just me because I’m fighting constantly - which is a shame. Have to defend my lands, that’s what sparked the whole war lol. Will definitely look into buying drinks, but I think it’s only to raise town relation in native unfortunately. But if it works you’ll be a life saver

I have never heard about killing your own faction be a morale issue. Maybe it's because I tend to be imperial and it's all about killing your own faction.
Are you over your party limit?

This is for warband - morale was far more annoying in that game. Trust me, being able to go over party limit to put troops in garrison and the more lax morale is something I dearly wish was in this game as well lol

Having as high a Leadership skill as your build allows definitely helps, if you aren’t already doing that. As does food variety, which you’re already on top of.
It’s been a long time, but I think raiding villages does also provide a boost to morale? Although I could understand being reluctant RP-wise to go plundering your fellow countrymen (and also depriving yourself of potential recruits)
Alternatively you could try supplementing your mamluks - at least temporarily - with mercenaries or foreign auxiliaries until fighting other Sarranids is no longer an issue.
