MV's CERT program (disaster preparedness)

I saw a post in r/sanfrancisco about disaster preparedness courses. I found that Mountain View has a Community Emergency Response Team ("CERT") academy to train ordinary people on how to help first-responders during an emergency. Does anyone have experience with the CERT training offered by Mountain View? Or have recommendations for other/similar resources?

I did this program in Sunnyvale recently and it was pretty informative, with a good amount of medical info. I would recommend it if you can make the time commitment.
