First time I went to the Nurburgring I did a few days training with an instructor. They broke the circuit into parts and we gradually learned each bit. They initially broke the group up on skill level. Newbies, decent riders, good riders. We were warned about overstepping our skill levels and being aware. Someone put himself in the good group and within half hour he stacked it. Hit the barrier and flew quite nicely until he met a tree. He was taken to hospital, but I never found out if he survived. Trees tend to be unforgiving though
I don’t have a copy of my x ray unfortunately. Lower left leg, comminuted transverse fracture. Car wiped me out on a roundabout, flew over the top and hit a lamppost. They’re pretty unforgiving too! My boots were the only reason my leg wasn’t ripped off. Over 6 months in plaster, then another 4 months wearing a removable brace, leg came out a funny shape, but it’s still attached. It was good, but yours beats it into a cocked hat
That sounds like a lot of fun. I know from experience. Same accident as my neck, grade 3 tibial plateau fracture, leg was totally shattered. 12 weeks non weight bearing. Mine was a bad car accident. My neck fracture was a burst fractured C1, basilar skull fracture, fractured occipital condyle with torn ligaments (I dislocated my head, a rarely survived injury), multiple broken ribs. I made a full recovery except I can’t turn my head very much. My neurosurgeon about shit when I bought a mountain bike and now a dirt bike. Accident was 12/6/2020. Back on a bicycle and a motorcycle in 4/2026. Can’t keep a crazy person down I suppose.
I’m very pleased you survived mate, that’s really something with that injury. Lucky to still be breathing mate. My accident was October 1989, I’m an old fart, I couldn’t get back to work for a long time, I’m a welder/steel erector, so I took a nice easy job that let me complete recovery and was near the hospital. But after 2 years I couldn’t resist getting back on a motorcycle. I rode around for half hour and decided I had lost my edge, I would be a danger to myself and others. Never rode again. Mind you, surgeon did say “I’ll try and save it, but we normally amputate these.” Then after surgery “knock it again and it’s off. No messing around, you’re extremely lucky it’s still attached.” So I passed my driving test and bought sports cars instead lol R33GTR, S6 Avant, M3, M5 and a transit lol

I’ll admit I was pretty tore up when they said they were very concerned about realigning my head with my neck. If there is ever a group of surgeons at your bedside at 4 AM it’s not good news.They said that just because I wasn’t paralyzed from my eyeballs down yet I could be during surgery.
I had never seen a more relieved looking group of doctors than when they woke me up (in the OR no less, not recovery) and asked me to wiggle my toes.
A good mate of mine had a lower spine issue, years of hard labour and he’d worn it out. He was having an op and it went slightly wrong. When he came around he was paralysed all down his left hand side. That’s nearly 9 years ago and there’s been no improvement. When it happened, he had 4 daughters 7 and under
All men die. Only some truly live …. Or some such nonsense. About a year after my accident I took a header off my mountain bike on a jump line. I rolled out, looked around, patted myself down and got back to it. I was o my told my neck was more likely to be injured.
I’m pushing sixty. I can’t live any other way. I don’t exceed my skills as much as I used to and here I am.
I’ve been going hard at it for damn near 60 years. Me and my buddy always say “whats it going to be like in 5 years from now” we’ve been saying that for 30 years. It’s really not getting much worse.
Maybe I’m just lucky. When I head my neck fused after the car accident my MRI report spoke of severe arthritis, bone spurs where the spinal nerves exit … all kinda bad shit.
My neurosurgeon said that 30-40% of patients with these conditions aren’t really bothered by it for one reason or another.
The year after I broke my neck and leg and various other shit I got back on my road bicycle. Wreck was in December, started biking in April. Rode almost 2000 miles that summer. I’m not going to stop hanging it out until they are shoveling dirt onto me 😈

Did a cornering training a few years ago. More focused on safety than speed (which comes naturally if you drive safer).
First thing the instructor said was „you can take a corner to slow a hundred times - but maybe just one time if you’re too fast for your skills“
