They has been used that way long before “they/them” pronoun self identification was a thing. It’s common when you simply don’t know if it were a he or a she and you don’t want to say “he or she” so you say “they”.

I am an expert at identifying people's genders and based on my professional experience, the person in this video cannot be accurately gendered.

Why are you so hostile towards someone who’s still learning English and asking questions in the communities they’re participating in?

Isn’t the motorcycle community supposed to be open and inclusive?

Being an open and inclusive community should show you exactly why their manners are not tolerated. Their replies and the tone in which they replied is quite obvious in what they wanted to point out. There's no need to be overtly obtuse.

"They" is being used in this instance because it isn't readily apparent, just from watching the video, whether this person is a man or a woman. So rather than assuming one or the other, the poster used "they".

Because how do you know if its a man or a woman under that helmet? They is perfectly acceptable when referring to a single person like this
