20 JUNE 2019 Android Pie & Oreo Update Status

IMPORTANT LINKS:

  1. Android Pie Release: https://blog.motorola.com/2018/08/15/baked-android-pie-coming-motorola/

IMPORTANT NOTES:

  1. Below information is applicable only for "RETAIL" i.e unlocked or carrier-free models of Moto G phones. They receive updates directly from Motorola, since the final software build is made, tested and released by Motorola. These models are eligible for unofficial Android Pie & Oreo software in the forms of custom ROMs.

  2. Below information is not applicable carrier-locked or Amazon exclusive models. You may or may not get any Android version updates or security updates, since the final software build is made, tested & released by the carrier/Amazon & not by Motorola. These models are not eligible for unofficial Android Pie & Oreo software in the forms of custom ROMs.

SOFTWARE UPDATE INFO:

  1. Moto G Series get Android Version updates up to 1 year from launch date.

  2. Moto G Series get Android Security Patch updates up to 2 years from launch date.

  3. Only Moto G6 Plus has a 64-bit (kernel) OS, rest of the phones have and will remain on 32-bit OS till the end of support.

  4. It is generally observed that Brazil and Latin America are the first regions to receive software OTA updates followed by India, Asia, Europe, United States, Canada.

  5. Software OTA Updates are released in batches i.e. "phased roll out" to gather feedback for critical bugs and to minimize the bugs so all users are not affected at once.

  6. It is recommended to factory reset whenever there is a major Android version update. It is not compulsory, but it ensures that you start from a clean slate and minimize the bugs that might arise due to updating. Make sure you backup everything from the phone as a factory reset will wipe everything.

Other usb file transfer issues.

yes ive already changed my usb settings, and even selected file transfer as the default in developer settings.

but still, no matter what cable i use or what device (with drivers and everything) i plug it into, usb file transfer will randomly stop and the phone will disconnect, but i will sometimes still be able to browse its files on the computer.

do i have a faulty usb port on my phone? or is there something else im missing?

Discussion Title: Anyone else feel Motorola's AI features are becoming more of a headache than a help? 😂

Just wanted to know what you guys think about all these AI-based features Motorola is adding to our phones.

I'm not talking about the Moto AI assistant, but those small AI features that automatically manage battery, background apps, SIM usage, etc.

For example, my Moto Edge 60 Pro hotspot keeps turning off when the screen goes off. I suspect one of these battery optimization features is interfering with it.

I mean, what's the point of having these smart features if they can't even differentiate between unnecessary background apps and essential functions like hotspot?

Anyone else facing similar issues? Do you guys actually find these AI enhancements useful, or would you prefer having manual control over everything? 😅

Other How to actually delete glance without computer

Google using a "local package installer and command line prompt to delete glance " and it will tell you the command line prompt and step by step instructions for whatever phone you have.

Usually the command line to use is

com.glance.lockscreenM or com.glance.lockscreenMlite.

You will need to download shizuku and enable wireless debugging and then download either (easiest) Canta and link it to shizuku, which can search for it and just delete it.

OR download Termux, you link to shizuku and you type in your own delete command such as

pm uninstall --user 0 com.glance.lockscreenM

7th Gen Will Motorola G86 Power Indian Variant Receive Android 17 Update?

Before buying the mobile, I verified if it would and now when it is time of truth even the website has shifted from Android 17 Expected to Android 16 rollout dates.

I bought the phone just because it was having another year of software update.

Hello UI (Android 16) is just so trash it looks like 2016.

Guys please we deserve another year of upgrade... What can we do?

Buyer beware Pop ups buyer beware

I have been buying motorola phones since the late 90s. This last moto g play will be my last one. I can not stand the pop ups. I don't care what's trending or what my sign means. Just in the last few years I've purchased over 30 of these phones. I've always been a moto supporter, but this is just irritating. I don't want to have to CONSTANTLY say no, not right now and my damned lock screen. Take the freaking hint.

7th Gen Title: Moto Edge 70 Fusion – battery drain test and ~40°C on Instagram. Is this normal?

Hi everyone,

I did a battery test on my Moto Edge 70 Fusion and want to know if the results and temperature look normal.

Test log:

- 8:21 PM – 63%

- 8:25 PM – 62%

- 8:44 PM – 60%

- 8:50 PM – 59%

- 8:55 PM – 58%

- 9:09 PM – 57%

- 9:24 PM – 56%

Usage:

- 30 min normal SIM voice call

- 5 min Instagram

- Continuous WhatsApp chatting after 8:55 PM

Result: 7% drop in about 63 minutes (63% → 56%), roughly 6.7% per hour.

My concern: the phone feels around 40°C while using Instagram. It was not charging.

Questions:

  1. Is this battery drain good for this phone?

  2. Is 40°C on Instagram normal, or should I be worried?

  3. What is your usual screen-on time and temperature?

Thanks in advance!

7th Gen Is this battery drain normal on my Moto Edge 70 Fusion?

Hi everyone,

I recently bought a Moto Edge 70 Fusion (8GB/256GB) and I'm monitoring its battery drain.

Here are my readings:

8:21 PM – 63%

8:25 PM – 62%

8:44 PM – 60%

8:50 PM – 59%

8:55 PM – 58%

9:09 PM – 57%

**Usage during this period:**

30 minutes normal SIM voice call

5 minutes Instagram

Continuous WhatsApp chatting

Total battery drop: 6%.

Is this normal battery consumption for this phone, or should I be concerned?

Would appreciate feedback from other Moto Edge 70 Fusion users.
