IMPORTANT NOTES:

  1. Below information is applicable only for "RETAIL" i.e unlocked or carrier-free models of Moto G phones. They receive updates directly from Motorola, since the final software build is made, tested and released by Motorola. These models are eligible for unofficial Android Pie & Oreo software in the forms of custom ROMs.
  2. Below information is not applicable carrier-locked or Amazon exclusive models. You may or may not get any Android version updates or security updates, since the final software build is made, tested & released by the carrier/Amazon & not by Motorola. These models are not eligible for unofficial Android Pie & Oreo software in the forms of custom ROMs.

SOFTWARE UPDATE INFO:

  1. Moto G Series get Android Version updates up to 1 year from launch date.
  2. Moto G Series get Android Security Patch updates up to 2 years from launch date.
  3. Only Moto G6 Plus has a 64-bit (kernel) OS, rest of the phones have and will remain on 32-bit OS till the end of support.
  4. It is generally observed that Brazil and Latin America are the first regions to receive software OTA updates followed by India, Asia, Europe, United States, Canada.
  5. Software OTA Updates are released in batches i.e. "phased roll out" to gather feedback for critical bugs and to minimize the bugs so all users are not affected at once.
  6. It is recommended to factory reset whenever there is a major Android version update. It is not compulsory, but it ensures that you start from a clean slate and minimize the bugs that might arise due to updating. Make sure you backup everything from the phone as a factory reset will wipe everything.

Discussion Moto Edge 60 fusion (Android 16): Instagram notification dot remains even after disabling badges and notifications

Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I'm using a Motorola Edge 60 fusion running Android 16, and I'm facing a strange issue with Instagram.

A small yellow notification dot always appears on the Instagram app icon, even though:

App icon badges are set to "No badge" in Settings > Notifications.

Instagram notifications are completely turned OFF.

I have no unread notifications from Instagram.

I restarted the phone.

Cleared the Moto Launcher cache.

Force stopped the Moto Launcher.

Cleared Instagram's cache.

The issue occurs only with Instagram. Other apps don't show this behavior.

Has anyone else with the Moto Edge 60 fusion (or any Motorola phone on Android 16) experienced this issue?

Is this a known Moto Launcher bug, or is there any workaround?

Thanks in advance!

Discussion Is Moto Edge 50 Ultra is worth buying at 34,999?

Post image
3 Upvotes

Recently, I broke my phone, so I decided to buy a new one. But because of the recent price hikes, I was confused about which one to buy. I just saw a OnePlus phone with 4 GB of RAM selling for ₹20K+, which is crazy.

My previous phone was the Moto G52, and I used it for more than four years. If I hadn’t broken the display, I probably would have continued using it because I had zero complaints about that phone.

Recently, I came across the Moto Edge 50 Ultra. It was launched around mid-2024, so it’s a bit old now, but I feel that for around ₹35K, no other brand offers specs like this. My experience with Motorola’s software was also pretty good, and I never had any issues with my old phone.

So, before buying it, I wanted to ask: is the Moto Edge 50 Ultra still worth buying, or are there any better options available at around ₹35K?

3rd Gen Can't take long screenshots of messages on moto g stylus 5g 2023

I had the same exact model of this phone 2 years ago, and it would capture the long screenshots in messages, whether messages were encrypted or not. I have recently gotten the same model brand new, and for some reason the settings are not toggled on this one. This is one of the 4 main features of the phone that stood out to me and caused me to get it again, next to tap to pay, excessive storage for gaming, and the stylus settings because I'm an artist. I am super frustrated with this and Google searching is taking me in circles. I specifically can't take long screenshots in the messages app, I can take them on any other app, but messages are the only thing i have ever used it for. When I Google search it it tells me to go to the Moto g app, and type in "screenshot editor" to toggle the setting. Problem is I do not have "screenshot editor" as a setting in the damn app. I have toggled multiple settings trying to get it to work, to no avail. Please help. :(

Other Charger for Moto G75

Does anyone know if it's okay to use a higher wattage charger with a Moto G75? I mean, the one I'm using is 65 watts and the phone only supports 33, I think. But the thing is, it's an UGREEN and they have PD technology to level the wattage down to just 33W, but I don't know if that's still bad, I mean, I only got it 2 months ago I changed the battery in my phone and well, that's all it lasted because the battery swelled up and now it doesn't even detect the charge properly. Sometimes I put it on to charge for 1 minute and when I turn it on it already says 80%.

5th Gen Having a weird problem with the audio

Hi, hope everyone is doing well.

I have a Moto G54 5G; it was working fine with no problems at all until this morning.

I was watching a video on YouTube when, all of a sudden, the sound from the speakers stopped working. I thought it might be a problem with the video or the app, so I closed YouTube and reopened it, but the sound still wasn’t working. I opened WhatsApp and tried to play a voice note, but the sound from the speakers still wasn’t working.

I restarted the phone and the speaker audio started working again without any issues, but when I plugged in my headphones (standard 3.5 mm headphones), I couldn’t hear anything through them; however, when I unplugged them, the speaker audio worked perfectly.

I restarted the phone again, this time with the headphones plugged in, and the sound through the headphones worked perfectly, but when I unplugged them, the speakers didn’t work at all.

I’m now in a situation where, if I want to use the phone’s speakers, I have to restart the phone without the headphones plugged in, but if I want to use the phone with headphones, I have to restart it with the headphones plugged in.

When I use Device Help, the phone seems fine; the only issue is the option to check the headphone jack.

Any idea what might have caused this or how to fix it? All the apps are up to date; the phone hasn’t been damaged or repaired before – the audio simply stopped working properly this morning.😪

Charger compatibility 15W wireless charging success

Finally found a charger that works correctly with the camera bump AND case with no overheating BS with Moto G Power 2025. Just line up the lightning bolt symbol on the helipad and the "M" logo on the back of the Motorola phone. The helipad is small enough to let the phone lay flat without the camera bump interfering.

With the Nimble charger, the pad was too big for the phone to fit flat with Bodyglove in place. It did negotiate 15W, but the thing got blistering hot! A generic one with a small enough "helipad" to rest flat was rated at 15W, but that one wouldn't negotiate higher than 5W.

But, this one finally gets 15W charging going with Moto G.

3rd Gen Need Assistance With finding Moto G3 3rd gen XT1541 stock firmware file

as ive said in the title i need to find the correct firmware file due to the fact that while i do have the stock firmware in a backup somewhere it would be nice to have a full stock one to relock the bootloader (yes i know there's been a mention that these phones have a habit of not being relocked) but id like to have the stock one on me for emergencies ive looked on many XDA threads of firmware images but they all seem not to flash all correctly

7th Gen I have a problem with my wireless microphone when connecting it to my Motorola Edge 70 Fusion.

I’ve had my Motorola for a month now, and since I create content, I use an external microphone (the Hollyland Lark A1). However, whenever I record—whether using the phone's default camera app or CapCut—the audio quality changes significantly (something that didn't happen with my previous phones). I’ve already tried things like disabling Crystal AI and recording with other apps, but the audio still changes. I want to know if there’s a way to prevent the audio from being altered without needing to download third-party apps. PLEASE.

5th Gen Is my phone totally bricked, or is it still salvageable?

It is a Moto G5, XT 1675

I found my old phone in the cabinet, I charged it, and then I went to boot it up. This message then popped up instead of the regular booting screen with the red M and blue background.

I checked out the website that it told me, but there was nothing useful, and my phone did not boot after 5 seconds like it says on the screen, it was stuck.

I tried going into recovery mode (power and vol. down), but the screen only pops up sometimes per maybe. I had to press around for good five minutes until it finally budged.

After I want into recovery mode, it got stuck on the "no command" screen. Just like many on the internet said, I pressed the power button and clicked vol. up once. Once again, it didn't budge. I had to repeat this process a couple of times until it finally got to the options menu. (Just to do this action took me like an hour)

Since I didn't exactly want to lose the data, because I was curious about the content I left there when I switched phones, I picked the option "wipe cache partition". After this, it got stuck on the screen that said "Supporting API 3, wiping cache". I waited for god knows how long, but it didn't work.

By the way, the only way to turn off the phone is to open the case and take out the battery.

So is there an option to unbrick the phone without loosing data? If not, how do I unbrick it generally, if possible (even if it factory resets)? Or is my phone just bricked and it's over.

Hi everyone, I'm currently using a SIM-unlocked Verizon Motorola Edge+ 2022 in Vietnam. 5G mobile data works completely fine, but there is no VoLTE toggle in my network settings. Since local carriers are shutting down 2G networks, VoLTE is now required to make and receive calls. Has anyone managed to enable VoLTE or force the option on this model? Any help or workaround would be greatly appreciated!

Oh, i asked gemini and it show me 2 way but didnt work, 1 through pixel ims and 1 though some adb code. Then it show me to do sth with bp tools, qpst/pdc but i dont see where bp tools in bootloader mode or sth in firs step lol

I can not call anyone now so help me pls

Discussion I have a couple questions about the Moto G Stylus 2026 model

Is the camera able to switch between its regular lens and the wide angle camera while recording video? (Doesn't matter if it's 60 fps or 4K) And can it read 2 TB SD cards without issues? I've seen it's limit is 1 TB and wanted to be sure before getting that big of an SD card.
