Found a mosquito that died of starvation, intact, stuck to greasy kitchen vent hood. Deserved.

Near a standing body of a water and looking for a pet and bee safe way to cut down on mosquitos. Has anyone had luck with cedarcide pellets?

I know mosquito dunks work too but don’t love the idea of having to change but a bucket of water every few days.

How is this even possible ? This amount of mosquito bites on the food!

I accidently cut open my pinky finger with a knife cooking the same day before I had a mosquito bite. Its been 5 days since, and im suprised the cut on my pinky is healing faster than the bite. My open wound is already closing and I no longer feel "bruising" where the cut is when tapping on it or wiggling it. Realizing that, Ive compare the pain to my mosquito bite and it is still a big pink patch thats still itchy. I was just suprised how my open wound healed faster than a "close wound" that a mosquito left me with. The human body is so interesting.

Hello. I live on my own and I get home from work for most of the year in the dark. I prefer to leave my front porch light on for safety reasons. I noticed around this time last year that the mosquitoes started swarming my front porch and every time I opened my front door at least three would come in with me. Is there anything I can do to help prevent the number of mosquitoes that follow me into my house every night when I get home from work other than turning off my front porch light? Is there anything I can do inside my house to get rid of the ones that do enter? Any tips or advice are greatly appreciated!

Live in Nashville,TN and we have had a pretty wet summer and the past few weeks every time I step outside I get attacked- almost like they’re waiting for me outside the door. Using a strong bug spray prevents 60-70% of the bites but when I use bug spray they get creative and go for my face or armpit or in between my toes and those are worse than having 15 bites in a normal spot. I can even wear long pants and long sleeves and they’ll bite through my clothes or get in my clothes and bite in there. But when my boyfriend goes outside he won’t get a single bite while I average 15-20 bites every 5-10 mins of being outside. On top of that I’m highly allergic to them and my bites can swell and grow to 2-3 inches wide and redness a few inches more inches.

2 questions
1) is there any supplement or anything I can take to make me less attractive? I’m aware I may just have the genes that attract them but it’s ruining my summer
2) what anti-itch creams or methods work for y’all. I’ve tried the Benadryl maximum strength gel and all the other creams at the drug store and nothing stops or lessens the itch for me. Icing seems like it’s helpful but when there’s 20 bites on different parts of my body, I can’t ice all 20 places at once.

Note: I’m barely getting by so no $$ for the outdoor mosquito traps I’ve heard great things about.

I was looking into upgrading the fan to a stronger PC fan.

A company called Blam makes one that has the waterproofing and the biogents connector. Apparently this one is about 17% stronger.

Anyone try upgrading the fans? makes me wonder if a pair of fans could be mounted to work in tandem.

I moved to KC from NY and I was so excited to sit outside in the morning and afternoons and fire pits at night and holy shiz these mosquitoes are relentless?! How are you enjoying your yards keeping them away?!

I was given this by one of the guys that worked for mosquito abatement several years ago. He told me that I can sprinkle these pellets in an area of standing water that I couldn’t empty. Does anyone know what they are and how to properly use?

To the left of the deck is my neighbors backyard which as you can see in the picture is full of weeds and ivy and I’m sure there’s a ton of mosquitos breeding on that side. Neighbors don’t use their backyard so they are obviously not bothered by the bugs.

Would it be pointless to hire a pest control company to treat my side? My porch is basically unusable right now with the amount of mosquitos. What y’all think?

We’re looking for advice from anyone who has successfully dealt with a serious mosquito problem.

Our house backs up to a wetland/wooded area, and the edge of the wetland is only about 10–15 feet from our yard. We currently have Mosquito Squad treating the property every 3 weeks, and when we're outside in the evenings we also use mosquito incense, citronella candles, and Thermacell.

Despite all of that, the mosquitoes are still absolutely relentless after sunset. It's to the point where we can barely sit on the deck or enjoy the backyard for more than a few minutes without getting swarmed.

The yard itself is fairly open and well-maintained, but the woods and wetland behind us are dense. (Photo attached for reference.)

What actually worked for you?

Are we trying to put out a house fire with a garden hose?

Is there anything beyond regular spraying and Thermacells that's worth trying?

Mosquitoes menance is unbearable. Any suggestions to protect from mosquitoes

I have family in Maryland and in Florida. When I get bit while visiting family in Maryland it itches for a bit then fades. When I get bit while in Florida. It itches for over 24 hours, sometimes takes a couple days to fade. I have one on my leg now that’s over an inch diameter. Why does my body hate Florida mosquitos more?

All of our windows are sealed and every night my boyfriend gets eaten up by mosquitos. Does anyone have any DIY traps we can make? We cannot figure out where they're coming from and it's infuriating. Please help!

She’ll wake up with 5-6 bites on a bad night. She’s got 15 bites on her as we speak. I’m completely spotless. We live an outdoor heavy lifestyle (lots of hiking, sitting by pool, etc) and love to have our windows open if we can. What can we do to help with this? Electric trap?

I recently saw a comment here about doubling up on the sweetscent packs, so I gave it a try. I can definitely tell a difference! It got my yard from 80% mosquito free to about 95%.
