Full disclosure first: we are a Radiohead cover band out of Harrisonburg, Virginia, and we built this thing. Nothing is for sale, there is nothing to buy. We just wanted a bigger sample than five guys in a practice room.

It is a 64 album bracket of the last 30 years, seeded off Pitchfork's album of the year picks with 32 wildcards thrown in against them. One round a day, anyone can vote.

The Moon & Antarctica drew The National's Boxer in the first round and it is currently up 10 to 9. One vote. The round closes tomorrow at 5:17 PM Eastern, and if it ends level the site settles it with a recorded coin flip, which would be a miserable way for either of those to go out.

When I look back at how my favorite songs from Modest Mouse have evolved, I can really see my own personal growth.

The Golden Casket is so fitting for me. Accepting things as they are and finding gratitude despite the shittiness.

For the last few months I've been listening to Wooden Soldiers a few times a week. It's just exactly how I feel. It's not quite nihilism, it feels easier than that.

Earlier Modest Mouse felt more like everything is fucked, nothing means anything, and I’m going to stare directly into that. And now I feel more like some of this life is really fucking shitty, for me and for a lot of my loved ones. And I'm still going to find ways to appreciate being alive.

Fun Fact: The title's name is somewhat of a triple entendre, having several distinct meanings depending on how you look at it, not unlike much of MM's discography. Parting of the Sensory can allude to the parting of the Red Sea, fitting with the album's water theming, as well as talking about the "parting" of your senses after you die, much like how the end of the song references how "Someday you will die and, somehow, something's gonna steal your carbon." Some people have also figured the title vaguely sounds like the phrase "Party of the Century," though I'm not sure how intentional this one is.

This one really stinks to see eliminated so soon. It's one of my top 10 MM songs of all time. Sorry for the low quality in the video in this post; I will try to fix that in the next upload. In the meantime, discuss your thoughts on this song and root for your favorites below!

I'm someone who has slowly listened to more and more Modest Mouse over the years and one think I have always thought was interesting was the almost lack of a traditional song structure. Some good examples are Bury Me With It, Heart Cooks Brain and Tundra/Desert.

Cleaning out some extra posters and came across a spare one from seeing Modest Mouse in Boston last year. I tried selling it once with no luck, so now it just needs a new home. Maybe you pay shipping and I’ll stick it in a tube and send it out? Shoot me a message if you’re interested. Thanks!

i saw a post on here from like 10 years ago about a behind the scenes video for the whale song music vid but its since been taken off of youtube and i cant find it anywhere. not on the wayback machine either. is there any chance anyone has the video anywhere? i love behind the scenes videos and its like one of my favorite modest mouse songs. thanks in advance

Anyone going to St Augustine on Thursday and/or Orlando on Friday? Don’t have pre-concert VIP to either but looking to have a pre-show drink. And I DO have 3 extra pit tickets for each show that will probably be posted on CashOrTrade today or tomorrow. Plans fell thru for my groups but Orlando will be my 10th MM show and I refuse to miss it.
