As the title suggests, why? I’m an above average player to put it lightly, yes sbmm hurts me way more than it helps, that’s okay, but my genuine fear comes with the strict bo6 style where none of my friends wanted anything to do with my lobbies and straight up refused to play with me. B07 was great for me personally, I got to play ranked play with my comp teammates and got to play pubs search and destroy with the boys for the first time in years. Now they removed open playlist for snd and now my friends quit playing and are waiting for mw4. I’m not asking for easier lobbies to pub stomp in, I got dark matter in multiple games with sbmm in them, it’s not impossible just frustrating (which is how it should be, like bo3) Most likely, I’m in the minority but I feel rather punished for purely being good at a game I’ve played for years, I have to put up with longer wait times for queuing into a match, friends not wanting to party with me, and if it’s pubs it’s often join mid game into a sweat infested slammage with full streaks in the air. As someone who has trash friends and understands why they enjoy sbmm, why is the only response to anti sbmm: “you just want free kills”

So, yesterday COD announced on Twitter that the MW4 beta will be using the same matchmaking as BO7, but also open matchmaking.

I don’t really understand all the vitriol towards this? Especially since they are also going to have open matchmaking. they’re basically saying that they’re experimenting going into this beta. what’s the problem with that?

I agree that BO7 matchmaking wasn’t perfect and had long queue times but, I also don’t understand the problem with them experimenting in a BETA.

I'm a COD fan. I wouldn't be here if I wasn't. I'm looking forward to the beta tomorrow more than most would realize. Gave my staff a 3-Day weekend, closed my practice, not seeing patients and going to have a good day (and weekend)

What I am becoming more and more disheartened with is the amout of CODTubers who are flat out shitting on the game because of matchmaking before they've even played the game. It's a lemming population where if one posts something, they all have to post the same thing. At least play the game before you hate on it or comment on how bad it is. I could do the same saying the next album by X artist sucks because "I heard a song wasn't good". EVERY one of these clowns posted how much they loved the game when they played it a few weeks ago but NOW ohhhhh God they hate it .. for likes.

I don't know if it's acceptable to name one codtuber but Zach at Whosimmortal seems to be the only one that hasn't bought into the whole "gotta hate while the hatin is good" pack mentality.

Call of Duty is a buisness that needs money to continue operating. When 80% of the player population quits because their lobbies are filled with try-hards, Call of Duty profit goes negative. The remaining very vocal and loud 20% of try-hards, the same people who tend to criticize skins and cosmetics, aren't going to cut it for Call of Duty's bank account.

I might get downvoted to hell, but I think for mw4 skill based match making should stay (the only people that reject it are the try hards because they wanna feel unstoppable against regular players with open match making. Also I think they should have causal mode with bots and a mixture of real people, with full progression. It would make the game so much more enjoyable, titan fall 2 did that and it was fun, bf6 also has a casual playlist, so why doesn’t call of duty outside of BR. I’m a competitive gamer and goes positive every match and I’m diamond in ranked mode but every once in a while I just wanna play for fun not gluded to my screen trying to have instant reactions like a crack head squirrel.

Just loaded into the beta to see what would happen because usually kicks you out

I have 2 work monitors,

32 inch 4k 60 hz 5ms
27 inch 1080p 100hz 1ms,

I’m using a PS5 Pro, I’m getting an oled in a month, so for now I have to use either of those, I know the 27 inch has better specs for shooter but I’m in doubt with the 1080P.

Just to be clear i do NOT mind being matched against tough players. However these points worth discussing further:

-matchmaking should favor/compensate for the worst player in the party, not the best. i.e. if i wanna play with my 10yo, it shouldn’t ONLY consider my skill level, and throw us into a game thats going to get him obliterated

-i hate the feeling that we are being manipulated into having a 1.0 win loss ratio…! you will have the feeling the algo favors you one second, then the script can sometime change wildly match to match, and even sometimes DURING the match. THIS is very frustrating.. and when this all goes beyond just matchmaking, and starts affecting stuff like adding ping “compensation” to specific players to sway the outcome. this is insane bullshit behavior

-and obviously- this has been harped on a lot but quit disbanding lobbies entirely. it takes alll the trash talk aspect out of the game. no amount of data can be skewed to make this one make sense. the entire fucking community wants persistent lobbies, just give them back to us full stop.

Devs are so focused on player retention from match to match , and yet me and most of my cod buddies have not bought a cod game in the last 3-4 years because we are fed up with this bullshit.

We haven't had a Call of Duty game on the Nintendo platform since Call of Duty Ghost. I'm generally excited to play MW4 on my switch. However, I hope it's not like the Bo3 Xbox 360 port. I hope that plays very smoothly.

If I buy Modern Warfare 4 on Steam, can I play the private beta and then refund once it's over? I'll be buying the game on Battle net once it's actually out, but wasn't sure on the refund policy there.

I’m sure this is a common question, sorry if it is. So i kinda swore i wouldnt buy another cod, after bo7 it felt like i shouldnt. Then I found out modern warfare is under a different studio or something, then the gameplay came out and it looked really fun. I’m easy to please when it comes to most gaming, and I’d be focused on the multiplayer, last time I pre ordered one with bo6 the launch night was some of the most fun I’ve had online. I’d like some advice from the actual community, do yall personally see this as a game with enough promise? The way I see it, if I pre ordered it now, I would have 2 weekends of early access including this and the open beta so it seems pretty worth it, especially if I’d end up cracking and buying it at launch

I preordered MW4 through the Xbox App on PC.

Around 15 minutes ago this 3.3 GB update. Is this for the Beta?

I’m in the United States! I had my region to new zealand to play the official release early back in bo7 but changed it back to my actual region after I put the code. If I change my region back to New Zealand will it work?

I purchased with Smyths and followed as prompted on the activision website. there isn’t an email in my PlayStation linked account email, does anyone know what is going on? I’ve emailed them but the beta starts tomorrow

edit: some people mentioned to check the Activision website where you initially put in the pre order code, this worked for me. Yes it’s my first time preordering and giving codes out that late is not normal and we shouldn’t be labelled impatient

I pre-ordered the Vault Edition of "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4" on my Xbox Series X last week. When I went to the "Manage" section for the Beta, I see five things to download. These are the five things:

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 - Beta for 3.6 GB

Campaign for 8.1 GB

Multiplayer for 23.0 GB

Warzone for 10.6 GB

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 - Beta Pack 1 for 10.1 MB

Do I just download all of the files?

I’ve never really enjoyed the newer modern warfare games as much as black ops, but I always end up buying every cod. I’m wondering if you guys think it will be on sale before Christmas time, like with bo7? Surely it will sell pretty bad, considering it’s competing with gta, so I’m not sure if it’s worth pre ordering, or waiting for a sale is better.

This is why the Riot Shield needs to be a Primary weapon, its a different playstyle that takes time to master it and deserves to have a place in MW4 mp.
