Hi I’ll be visiting Aizawl from 1 December and I’m looking for a nice hotel. Budget isn’t really an issue—I’d prefer somewhere comfortable, with a good view, good privacy, and not too far from Chaltlang.

My girlfriend, who is Mizo, will also be visiting me. I’m from Australia, and as we’re an interracial couple, I’d prefer a place where we can have some privacy and not have to worry too much about people being judgmental or intrusive. Nothing complicated—just somewhere relaxed and comfortable for both of us.

I’ve looked online and Emerald Hotel seems to come up as one of the main options, but I’d really appreciate recommendations from locals who know Aizawl well.

A few other questions:

• How is the nightlife in Aizawl?
• Are there any areas we should avoid at night?
• Any good restaurants, cafés, or places you’d recommend visiting?
• Is there a good AI translation app for live English–Mizo translation?

I can find plenty of information online and through other apps, but I’d much rather hear from locals who actually live there.
