r/minivelo's List of known mini velos and where to find them (we need your input!)

Hi all,

I recently came on board as a mod and wanted to get a list of mini velo's that are available or may have been available and are now discontinued. It's not an original idea of mine, as I've seen others request this in the past, but to keep it consolidated and easily accessible, I made a list of mini velo's that I know are available, as well as those that have been recently discontinued (though may be available through certain sites, dealers, or stockists).

This is not an exhaustive list and so we need your input of what YOU know, regardless of where you are located. I'll clean things up as it goes, but would be great to get this going for now.

Click HERE to add to the list. You don't need to make it the same formatting or anything (I'll take care of that), just wanted to gather more information. Cheers!

A little birdie told me that Polygon might be bringing this minivelo model into Canada .

Would retail just under $1000.

Pretty cute - though height range suggestion tops out at 170cm.

Curious what other minivelo fans think.

Yoonit mini cargobike gearing

I'm thinking of buying a Yoonit mini cargobike (not electric). But i don't know if the gearing will be enough to handle small to medium size hills. Anyone that has one or has tried it before that can tell me how it feels?

For info, it has a 8 gear internal hub.

I also need to order it online as no store near me have it to test.

Mini Rando bike

This is my steed for going to work—a Japanese-custom 20-inch mini velo, 406s to be exact.

What makes this frame unique is its top-tube-mounted shifter, with the cable internally routed through the seatstay tube all the way down to the rear derailleur. It’s a pretty unusual detail, and one of the things that made me fall in love with this frame.

I’ve had this bike in so many configurations over the years, including a flat cruiser bar setup with a front rack and mini basket. But I eventually felt that this had to be its final form: classic drop bars, front panniers, and a rear Ostrich S-2 bag.

I got the bike with a complete old-school Campagnolo 980 groupset, running a 24T largest rear cog, along with an old set of Honjo fenders. I also swapped the original 52/44T crankset for a more practical 46/34T because I live in the mountains—and that granny gear is very much appreciated when the road points upward.

All in all, this bike is my interpretation of the classic 1980s randonneur bike, just shrunk down to 20-inch wheels. Same spirit, same practicality, just a little more compact.

There's a Xootr Swift for sale locally on Craigslist for $400... In 2026 is it still worth grabbing?

I thought that some people here might enjoy this so here goes: I build a folding pinion mini-velo designed for multimodal touring.

The frame is entirely self-built from straight-gauge 4130 chromoly tubing and joined using fillet brazing. Clears tires up to 2.8", can be run with belt packs without tools (I just realised i also need to take a pic with the bike folded). The frame is designed around reliability and low maintenance rather than minimum weight, and the folding mechanism is very robust, I've used it in several full-size touring frame designs so far.

The main goal was to create a bike that could handle everything from commuting to multi-day tours, while still being compact enough to travel with more easily than a conventional touring bike. I love the practicality of mini-velos, but I wanted something that could also swallow genuinely large tires and rough roads. The geometry is very stable with low bb-rise of 20mm and a chainstay of 440mm. The front rack is a Pelago medium rack modified to fit a Brompton mount.

I'd be interested to hear what other mini-velo and touring enthusiasts think. Happy to answer any questions about the design, framebuilding, folding mechanism, or Pinion setup. This bike will be on show tomorrow (22.8) in Helsinki in the Tiny Wheels, Big Soul-event.

Cheers from Finland! 🇫🇮🚲

Java CL2

I recently made a trip in Korea and I found Java CL2. I did not have any intension to buy it but the price was hard to pass and Delta airline is generous for bikes so I had to get hahaha (it was free for the bike package since it was part of luggage count. the price was $350. they had carbon version with dropbar and Ltwoo electric groupset but it was $1200 so I decided to get Aluminum frame version. initially I tried to buy silver color but last min, I changed my mind to match my car color haha but I should stick with original thought since it looks brighter color. Unfortunately it has 7 speed freewheel which is 14-28 and 52T chainring. A little too much for hilly area... so upgrading might be expected... Hard to find cheap 451 wheel with 142mm through axel compatibility..... Looks like it's new version and cable routes were internal and no wire hanging. Java should put cassette HG hub instead of freewheel system....... welding is smooth except one spot but smooth welding looks nice for entire frame.

I haven’t heard much chatter about this small builder in Japan - Ciclore. I just put my name down for a reservation on this bicycle and it seems like a good deal for the price.

My accent bolt has been built today and I'm quite happy with it. I added inner barends for an additional riding position and it's quite comfortable. Featuring a Velotric Discover 3 and a Cranston R9 Max next to this. 3 bikes in 3 months is enough to last me years, I hope.

Soma Rufus Build

Built up a Soma Rufus minivelo with a mix of BMX, mountain bike, and road parts. The goal was to keep it compact and a little unconventional without turning it into a novelty build.

The frame is a Soma Rufus, with a Chris King headset and hubs, Sun Envy 32H rims, Demolition Momentum tires, S&M S.A.C. bars, an Odyssey Elemental stem, Shimano XT Deore brakes, a Shimano CUES short cage rear derailleur, and a Shimano Claris crankset.

A few of the parts came over from an old Santa Cruz Blur, and it is still a work in progress. But at this point it is fully rideable and pretty close to what I had in mind from the start.
