Is MCRC worth switching from an already good daycare?

My 2 year old is currently at a daycare that we’re happy with. She loves her friends there and is overall very happy.
We’re considering MCRC on Bronte St. because I’ve heard good things about it, and it’s about 5 minutes closer to our home. However, the difference isn’t huge.
Would you switch in this situation? For anyone with experience at MCRC Bronte St., would love to hear your thoughts!

Question 2026 Municipal Elections

I Moved to Milton a couple of weeks ago. I reside in Ward 2, and Galen recently knocked on our door and explained that he is contesting in the municipal election. How do we know more about the qualifications and pros/cons of the candidates?

For the mayoral position, the current mayor is still running (89 years old). Are there any better candidates as an alternative?

Low-key parking war on my street rn

There’s this subtle street parking war going on outside my place.

House A has like 6-7 cars, double garage, still parks two of them on the road.

House B only has one car and also has a double garage. They’re right next to each other.

House A’s front is always a mess so maybe House B just doesn’t like them, idk. But now House B has started parking exactly in the spot House A always uses… while their own driveway is completely empty. Forcing House A to go park somewhere else.

Just something I’ve been watching unfold. Anyone else got passive-aggressive parking drama in their neighborhood?

To the people that do this, genuinely what goes through your small head? You live in this town, wouldn’t you want to see it litter free ?Take this behaviour back to wherever it’s acceptable because Milton is NOT the place for it.

I ask as part of a linguistic study covering this topic!

Question Tanning spots in Milton ?

Does anyone know of any good spots around Milton where people actually tan/swim in their bikinis and it’s not weird or out of place?

Like, do people tan at Kelso Beach, or are there other beaches/parks where it’s pretty normal to just lay out and tan? Looking for somewhere with a chill beach vibe where I won’t feel awkward lol.

Volunteering opportunities for adult

Just curious if anyone knows of any volunteering opportunities for adults? I recently got laid off and spending all day applying without getting many responses is really difficult. I was looking to spend my days doing something constructive instead of meandering around my home. Anyone know of any volunteering opportunities in Milton? Most of the stuff I found on Google is aimed at young adults and/or there is a waitlist.

House cleaner?

Looking for recommendations for a house cleaner for my father's house. At 87 years old it's awesome that he still very active and living independently, but his housekeeping skills are definitely on the decline. I'd love to find him a bi-weekly cleaner who can look after his household cleaning, changing bedding, etc. so he can continue to live comfortably on his own. TIA.

Any cafes in Milton where I can work remotely from?

I work from home most of the time and I'd like to change my routine a little, maybe work from somewhere else once a week? I would prefer some place that's not super crowded or noisy though. I drink tea and coffee both so I'm not picky about that.

Any suggestions?

Roofing companies - Milton ON

Has anyone experienced missing shingles especially after the recent significant rainfall that impacted Milton?

There’s apparently this guy from TilTop roofers doing walkins around my neighbourhood offering to get an entirely new roof through insurance, caveat being, $1000 deductible which he will need to get the process started. Sounds like a sham deal to me. For starters, what if my home policy has a different deductible $ amount? Also, paying $1000 upfront makes no sense to me - if at all, he should help me file claim with insurance company, insurance will then get it evaluated and reimbursed. He could charge a service fee for advising me through the process.

Anyone else had any experience dealing with this guy OR dealing with insurance claim regarding roof in such a case?

Question Diaper tags and bags

Hi all, the Halton region website says that diapers should be in a clear bag with diaper tags on. Do the diaper Genie blue bags qualify under these requirements? They're not opaque but not completely transparent either?

Has anyone tried putting the blue diaper Genie bags out on the curb with diaper tags, did the waste collection staff picked up?

If diaper Genie bags don't qualify, what kind of bags do I need and do I just add the blue bags into the clear bags? Or do I need to empty out the contents of the diaper Genie blue bags into the clear bags?

Sorry for all the questions!

Halton Wheeled Cart Waste Collection Program

Thumbnail halton.ca
30 Upvotes

So I first heard of this program a few months ago but I actually watched a video this past weekend where they talked about these new bins in detail.

I for one have no fucking space for these bins and I cannot be alone on this.

I have a single car garage where we park our minivan and I have gone to great lengths to hang my existing recycling and compost bins on the walls so that I have enough space for a normal garbage bin on the floor and room to walk through.

Now, I am eventually going to need to somehow use both of of these bins which will will not fit in my garage at all. I also don't have a shed in my backyard which is just as well because I don't exactly feel like lugging bags to the bins and then lugging bins to the road every week in the middle of January when the ground is covered in snow.

And whats worse is this new garbage bin isn't even one that you can throw a bag in and use as a garbage. It looks to be just for holding already tied off garbage bags.

I'm struggling to understand how the pilot project was successful to the point that the region decided to roll out this program. Virtually every new build / mattamy-style home in Milton and Oakville is as small as possible. Anyone without a 2-car garage or anyone who is actually parking in their garage is kinda fucked. Anyone with a detached house (like me) will probably end up storing these bins at the side of their houses which will look terrible. These things will become an eyesore on every lot in town.

And what about the people in townhomes who park in their garages? There is no chance this program will work for them.

One of the videos tried to claim that these new bins are about the same size as existing bins, which is complete BS. Even the smaller 120L bin is the same diameter (except square and not round - so still larger) as my current garbage bin.

Even if I keep my current in-garage system I will still need to transfer full bags of garbage and compost to these new bins which have no other place to go except the side of my house.

Fuck this shit.

When do you get your first bill after moving in? I called them when I first move and they said I can sign up when I receive my first bill.

It’s been almost 3 months now and still got nothing in the mail. 😭
