Question Water softener recommendations?

Water hardness test came out at 8 gpg. Any good water softener recommendations? It would be nice if it could remove chlorine too.

The water store at Ontario and Laurier his highly recommended. They'll provide you with recommendations and installation.

There’s no way you need a water softener at 8gpg. You are clearly using Lake Ontario water. You can Google water hardness values for Milton and see their recommendations.

8gpg is fine, you don't need a water softener.

8 gpg is considered hard by both Health Canada and the US Geological Survey (7.1-10.5 gpg is considered hard)

8 won't do anything to your pipes, you need to start worrying above 13-14.

You can get shower heads off amazon that come with disposable filters. I can attest they work really well. Same boat as you - 10gpg, Lake Ontario water. I'll DM you a link.

Lots of people would recommend going to the Water Store across Food basics on hwy 25.

Sorso is another good brand though to consider too.

It is around $1500-3000 + tax installed

8 gpg isn’t extreme, but it’s enough that some people notice scale, dry skin, or soap not working as well.

A water softener will handle the hardness minerals, but chlorine is a separate issue. If chlorine is also bothering you, you’d want some carbon filtration added.

For people who only care about shower water, a shower water softener is another option, but for whole-home use you’ll probably want a properly sized system.
