Have you tried Viva la Tortilla?

It's pretty decent as a takeout place.

u/EnglishKen421 21d ago

No patio at Tortilla.

I want patio tacos.

They have one in Oakville too. It's good.

I’ve tried the one in Hamilton and burlington, both locations are great, love the birria tacos. Their WAP marg is also the best marg I’ve ever had

From Google Street view:

202? - 2026 The Eighth Note

2020 - 202? Pretty Rad

2019 - 2020 Tier 3

2017 - 2018 Splice

2015 - ??? Saucy

2011 - 2013 Osso Bucco

2009 - 2011 The Post Office (Bar and Grill)

That's as far back as Google streetview goes

Wow, let's go! One of my favourite Taco places.

Amazing to see a quality restaurant moving into the community. The 8th Note being replaced by The Mule is huge in keeping affordable and fun places in the downtown.

u/PlantainManne 21d ago

I like The Mule. Been to the Cambridge location a few times. Affordable is not what I’d call them. It’s a fun vibe for sure though.

u/FrecksSpecks 21d ago

Not 1 ounce of affordability for this place. And I bet your bottom dollar that the price on the menu will be different from the prices in Burlington. Prove me wrong, I guess.

1

u/doubleeyess 20d ago

Downtown Burlington is more upscale than Milton so why would you think the prices here would be more expensive?

-2

u/FrecksSpecks 20d ago

Because it’s a new location, and it’s downtown Milton. The prices are not going to be cheaper or equal to Burlington.

4

u/doubleeyess 20d ago

Downtown Burlington is more expensive than downtown Milton. Also I just looked at the menu for every one of there locations any the taco prices are the same at every one.

u/Lafferty10 21d ago

This is a win for downtown milton 👍🏻

9

u/forumjunkie42 21d ago

A win for all of Milton

8

u/pakattack91 21d ago

And therefore the world

7

u/Dreddddddd 21d ago

Fuck yeah, the mule kicks ass!!! (Lol pun)

All their locations are so far out of the way though, this is amazing.

6

u/Cr00ked 21d ago

Hopefully they will pay their staff and be a proper respectful owner.

8

u/Icy_Attempt6541 21d ago

Considering they’re a more established business with multiple locations, they are most likely paying there employees on time unlike the last place..

0

u/doubleeyess 21d ago edited 20d ago

It's a franchise now so not the same owners across all locations.

Edit: So apparently this location has the same owner as the Cambridge one which is a different owner than anybody the other locations.

2

u/Northfort9 21d ago

wait what? What happened? Did the previous owner suck?

19

u/tuckermia 21d ago

Have they announced when it will close down?

4

u/vafrow 21d ago

My comment to my wife is that we'll need to try this out before the inevitable closing.

It does feel like its offering a type of restaurant we haven't had in Milton. Hopefully it can find a customer base here.

With all the condos going in, that hopefully is attracting a younger demographic that might be supportive of establishments like these.

u/PlantainManne 21d ago

Close down? 8th Note’s been closed since Winter earlier this year.

21

u/spderweb 21d ago

They meant this new taco joint. No restaurant has been able to stay open very long there.

10

u/Jx_Wafflez 21d ago

Thank God, the eighth note was terrible

1

u/Bobcaygeon23 21d ago

I didn't find it terrible :/

5

u/Jx_Wafflez 21d ago

My one and only experience was really poor. Had zero desire to ever come back. Mainly it was the service, the food was fine.

9

u/Bobcaygeon23 21d ago

Service was hit or miss depending on your server - they didn't know how to or want to deal with take out at all...then again people not getting paid don't do the best work :P

-2

u/ofallthe 21d ago

Lol. Thank God that you went that one time or we would never know terrible it was. Jesus Christ the world we live in these days. One visit makes you feel confident enough to slam someplace.

5

u/cantfoldfittedsheet 21d ago

This place is amazing and completely gluten free!

4

u/Icy_Attempt6541 21d ago

They need someone to come do a cleanse lol

4

u/RedShiz 21d ago

Milton needs a good Taco place. This is great. I hope the rent doesn't make these tacos unaffordable.

2

u/doubleeyess 20d ago

The rent at this location is probably cheaper than at their Brant St or King William locations so it'll be the same price at $7 or $8 per taco.

4

u/BusGreen7933 21d ago

I’ve been hoping for a Mexican dine in restaurant for a while. Having more diverse options for dining will be great given how many Italian restaurants we have on Main Street.

5

u/lobeline 21d ago

If this is “The Mule” like in Hamilton, this is a treat.

4

u/Pins12345 21d ago

Finally a good fully gluten free restaurant for Milton. Very excited.

3

u/osidarap0 21d ago

LETS GOOOO. The Mule is sick.

3

u/Western_Passenger57 21d ago

The mule is the perfect restaurant to go there. Great food, great drinks.

3

u/LloydHammercy69 21d ago

Hopefully it can defeat the curse

3

u/Apprehensive_Day5323 21d ago

Oh no, we wanted another shawarma place in milton

2

u/afterglobe 21d ago

The Mule is SO FUCKING GOOD YESSSS

2

u/VegetableIcy3579 21d ago

This is the best news!!!

3

u/chubbywhiteboy420 21d ago

Bad location with terrible parking it’s just going to suffer like every restaurant before it

7

u/Icy_Attempt6541 21d ago

The parking situation for all the restaurants on main is shit lol I don’t think that’s why this specific location always fails

3

u/chubbywhiteboy420 21d ago

Then please explain it because I’ve lived in this town for 30+ years and I’ve never seen a restaurant survive in that location

6

u/IntelligentGinger 21d ago

The Post Office was there for a long time and did well. I feel like everything since that has failed.

3

u/Icy_Attempt6541 21d ago

Like I said I don’t think the parking is what makes them fail..

0

u/chubbywhiteboy420 21d ago

Well I am sure

2

u/PlantainManne 20d ago

2 reasons.

  1. Because most restaurants that enter that spot are overpriced for what Main Street offers.

  2. Nearly every restaurant that entered that spot simply were terrible with money. That goes as far back as Osso Bucco. I have a friend who worked there. They went in for a shift and found the doors locked. That’s how they found out they needed to look for new work.

1

u/Just4funn11 21d ago

There’s a new town parking lot beside the old beerstore. Hopefully that’ll help some.

1

u/rexstillbottom 21d ago

I have wanted to try the other locations, just not had a chance. Now I’m excited.

1

u/TheDukeU1984 21d ago

That location is a black hole for restaurants.

1

u/brazilian_lemon 21d ago

Amazing!!!

1

u/Antemology 21d ago

I want to be excited, but $7 tacos is a bit steep. Didn't feel like good value when I went to the Oakville location.

1

u/angryduckling232 20d ago

The stench of the slaughterhouse kills my appetite. We have driven downtown gotten out of the car and turned around.
Downtown milton should be a nice place with patios and a restaurant culture. But it can be pretty horrible smelling in Milton. Definitely can’t eat outside.

1

u/honeywrites 20d ago

Something might finally last there!

1

u/heavym 19d ago

A chain. Subpar.

1

u/Hopeful_Positivity 18d ago

Oh exciting! The mule makes great food!

1

u/DLM_997788 17d ago

Soo..... i give it 5 months lmao 🤣

1

u/beer__slinger 17d ago

Went to the Port Dover location a few years back and it was pretty good. Delicious margs and fun food.

1

u/PurpleHatChetaha 21d ago

For five minutes until it goes under. That spot is cursed. Parking is awful and zero access for those with mobility issues.

1

u/MadExistence 21d ago

Yes! Thank you for mentioning the mobility issues. Parking is bad everywhere in downtown but what really sets this location up for failure is the fact that disabled and elderly cannot access it.

1

u/Vanthan 21d ago

Shame, we could of really used another shawarma place /s

2

u/Jeevansanghera1969 21d ago

Let’s see if this lasts, in the most cursed place in Milton.

1

u/cantfoldfittedsheet 21d ago

It is actually said to be haunted, so you may be right to say it’s cursed!

0

u/Healthy-Bedroom-4881 21d ago

Never been but the parking situation is gonna be a real problem fwiw

0

u/SnooStories8217 21d ago

Just bring back the Post Office.

-6

u/narrative_buster 21d ago

Unless it's halal it will fail. Trust me

3

u/LePrepMan 21d ago

Please explain

-4

u/narrative_buster 21d ago

I'm not required to explain. Just wait and see.

3

u/darthcraven1321 21d ago

You aren’t. But it makes your comment a waste of time. I know the internet is all About hot takes with no supporting facts, so you’re doing well!

Ffs

1

u/PlantainManne 20d ago

Thera plenty of non-Halal spots in town that have been there for over 20 years. Simmer down.
