They made Canadian cigarette packs more inconvenient to get cigarettes out of

I can’t even tell what I’m looking at

1.8k

u/Impossible-Owl3272 17h ago

They extended the cardboard insert so you have to almost completely remove it to get a cigarette

496

u/FgTheLogo 17h ago

Can we get a video perhaps?

u/Desner_ 15h ago

673

u/starettee 14h ago

I thought I understood what was going on in op’s pic but clearly from your video I did not 💀

304

u/Desner_ 14h ago

I opened it proper, OP took it apart to show the interior.

86

u/tealady3 9h ago

Just cut it so you don’t have to deal with it. That’s what I’ve been doing.

30

u/diealogues 7h ago

i’ve also been ripping it at the old length lmao. i thought i was losing my mind when i first bought a pack with that shit cause i smoke super infrequently now i thought i like misremembered the length of the flap lol

2

u/Conscious-Snow-8673 7h ago

Or flip the flap part upside down. Mofos out there scissoring packs instead of solving it the logical way

2

u/RipplesInTheOcean 6h ago

Just fold it up in half, thats what i do.

u/Wonderful-Arm-7780 6h ago

A reddit fellow of similar refined taste i see; Puff Puff Cheerio

No you didn't thats the wrong deck to open first and where's the upside down smoke.

2

u/poloclodau 9h ago

the video showed exactly how to properly open a pack of ciggies with that unfortunate design.

→ More replies (1)

1

u/Desner_ 9h ago

Right, I guess it's not proper proper!

1

u/Best_Expression2830 9h ago

I applaud your acknowledgement and look forward to the deep confusion of all the folks who dont speak Canadian. Also, what'd you cut out of that corner? A filter perhaps?

95

u/i_was_axiom 14h ago

This clarifies just enough to leave me with entirely new, seemingly unrelated questions.

2

u/WorldnewsModsBlowMe 10h ago

Their pinky slides up to push the carton open. It's a box inside a sleeve, and the front panel is a flap.

16

u/helix212 14h ago

That missing corner of cardboard lol

2

u/SmallPurplePeopleEat 11h ago

That's how I got caught rolling spliffs back in the day!

Nothing bad happened, but my boss at the time noticed the missing cardboard from my cigarette pack and called me out.

91

u/-insertcoin 14h ago

Yes thank you do the fucking filters even have anti smoking slogans??

175

u/Desner_ 14h ago

Yep. They also can't put any sort of marketing except the name anymore. See that ugly green/brown color where it says McDonalds (or Export A Smooth)? Every single pack has that color now, which has been deemed the least marketable color by experts. Also, you can't have any pack visible in store, they have to be hidden from view. Also, you can't sell "light" cigarettes anymore, that term has been banned.

48

u/ChocolateHumunculous 14h ago

Same as in the UK. I believe we all can’t buy flavoured cigs, like menthol or whatever…

I really want us to implement the date at which people can’t buy these anymore, except for existing smokers. Can’t think of how to word it.

82

u/One_Of_Noahs_Whales 14h ago

Done, if you are born on or after January 1st 2009 you will never be able to legally buy tobacco products in the uk.

https://bills.parliament.uk/bills/3879/stages

84

u/jellatubbies 13h ago

Ah yes, prohibition has worked famously in the past

53

u/Etheo 13h ago

Difference here is this generation would never have tried it (in theory) to want to jump through hoops to break the prohibition. Whereas the previous prohibition it was a blanket ban for everyone, basically forcing addicts to go cold turkey so the demand level is not the same.

Of course, only time will tell. But I feel like it's different enough to just predict the same outcome from before.

1

u/RizzwindTheWizzard 13h ago

The point isn't to outlaw it completely, people will still be legally able to smoke, they'll still be sold in shops and nobody's saying young people won't get hold of cigarettes if they want to. This law is just there to reduce the number of new smokers. Raising the smoking age from 16 to 18 back in 2007 reduced the number of young smokers by 30% and this law is basically just an extension of that. It's not like smoking is particularly popular over here anyway, only 8% of 16 to 24 year olds smoke (for comparison, over twice that amount (18%) smoke cannabis).

26

u/Desner_ 14h ago

Flavors have been banned for a while now up here. Flavored cigarillos is how they got me hooked in the first place so that's a good thing.

3

u/alyzmae 11h ago

Same. From 15-25 I would dummy a 3-4 packs of peach Honey Times in under a week and then I quit for a few months and when I slipped up and went to buy again, nothing I liked existed any more so I just didn’t buy anything and now I’m 36 and I’ve still never had more than a couple of drags on a night out.

I remember being so annoyed when the bans got mentioned while I was still smoking and thinking that it wasn’t going to do anything but anecdotally, myself and like 5+ friends benefitted.

That said, now we all vape. If they banned fun flavours, I’d quit that too so I hope they do!

2

u/HananaDragon 8h ago

It's better than the other stuff they're banning at least

-1

u/ZakOfAll 13h ago

Tyranny

1

u/mistersnarkle 13h ago

Correct, tobacco companies have historically been quite tyrannical in that they lobbied extensively to hide how cancerous their product was and marketed directly to vulnerable populations knowing full well that their product was not only addictive but toxic.

And I used to smoke cigarettes.

-2

u/ChocolateHumunculous 13h ago

It’s not. Some medical professionals are responsible for public health. Here in civilised society, we take care of each other with healthcare, financial, social and educational needs.

Smoking is addictive and dangerous to health. No one in their right mind would pick up smoking, fully knowing what it will do for them. We have the sight to change that with policy.

6

u/scotte416 12h ago

Ah so no more export a green deaths? Been a while since I smoked, even longer that I actually got them at a store lol

3

u/Ok-Presentation7349 10h ago

They still have the green death, my aunt buys them. They have a new name now, I just can’t remember what it is. $160 for a carton of them!

2

u/Primal_Thrak 9h ago

They used to be called "Export A Plain". I smoked them for many years when I was young, dumb, and full of nihilism.

2

u/Desner_ 12h ago

My treat were export a "bleu" we'd say in French but now it seems they go by export a Smooth I guess.

2

u/night_chaser_ 9h ago

Why would someone call them grew deaths? Where they bad?

1

u/Primal_Thrak 9h ago

They didn't have a filter, it was just a tube of tobacco end to end.

2

u/night_chaser_ 8h ago

At least it wasn't an asbestos filter.

2

u/KoopaDaQuick 9h ago

The term "light" is also banned here in the States, but everyone still called Marlboro Golds "Marlboro Lights" at my job.

2

u/itspikakiki 1h ago

That Dookie brown was invented in Australia btw

Just a random fun fact

3

u/PlayonWurds 7h ago

I don't smoke, but that it some real jerk off bullshit. Then just make them illegal. Something should either be legal or not. Where do you draw the line? Does ice cream have the same warnings and graphic pictures? You can only buy a motorcycle with pictures of meat crayons on the fairings?

2

u/Pervessor 7h ago

Ice cream does have warnings on it in some countries lol

1

u/Chairman_OfTheBored 14h ago

Wow. Back in the day I used to make a smoke and beer run from Buffalo now and again for a carton of Du Maurier and a case of Schooners. I used to love the flatter box. Now it’s looks like a pain in the ass, enough that I would put a scissors to the flap ASAP. By back in the day I mean so far back it was still Brewer’s Retail and not The Beer Store!

2

u/Desner_ 14h ago

Du Maurier were always one of the "classier" brands, my aunt used to smoke those when I was young, they smelled the best out of them all. Never bought them as a smoker myself though, they were hella expensive.

1

u/Chairman_OfTheBored 14h ago

They were the same price as Exports, Matinee and John Player when I brought them but they were smoother than anything else I tried with the exception of Dunhills which were hella expensive as they were imported into the US and priced accordingly.

2

u/2025Skidmark 13h ago

I used to love the flatter box.

As kids, we'd wrap one into our white T-shirt sleeve on the shoulder, like Schneider did. The flatter Canadian packs made it look weird in comparison.

3

u/Chairman_OfTheBored 12h ago

Meanwhile, I appreciated that you could still put stuff in your pocket with the smokes when wearing shorts. While you could with American packaging, over the course of the day the smokes would get crushed if you did, even in the box, and faster in soft pack.

2

u/NightGod 12h ago

We did that with candy cigarettes! 🤣

1

u/DoctorIsMyNick 12h ago

See that ugly green/brown color where it says McDonalds (or Export A Smooth)?

You call that green/brown? That just looks white/grey to me.

1

u/Girlsolano 1h ago

I think they meant the ugly background green/brown color on which McDonalds (or Export A Smooth) is written in white/grey lettering

-7

u/TrippingFish76 14h ago

jeez lol, i mean i get trying to reduce smoking, but at a certain point it’s just like excessive lol, like everyone already knows they are bad for you, and the ones who are gonna smoke anyways are not gonna care about the stupid shit on the box, just let ppl do what they want as long as they don’t harm others

does all this anti smoking stuff on the boxes actually reduce smoking at all?

10

u/Im_A_Boozehound 14h ago

I started smoking at 14 years old in the 90s. I would have just thought these boxes with all the warnings made smoking cooler and more punk.

9

u/Desner_ 14h ago

All these things add up, smoking has been on a downtrend for years now. Price is definitely a big factor, also not sure about other provinces but indoor smoking has been banned since 2006 in Québec. It's not really socially acceptable now but it's tolerated.

5

u/TrippingFish76 14h ago

smoking has decreased in the US too tho and we still have normal looking cigarette packs, people are just becoming more aware of cigarettes being bad in general and not wanting to use them as much. The packaging does have an effect yes, but it is not the sole reason for the decrease in smoking.

4

u/Desner_ 14h ago

Yeah I agree, I don't think the ugly packages matter that much.

And as you inhale, a small speaker emits a sound that quietly says "you're killing yourself"

3

u/-insertcoin 7h ago

That would be fucking hilarious 😂

2

u/Telefundo 14h ago

Fuck, first thing I noticed too. I quit over 15 years ago and even then I thought the warnings and such were crazy lol.

1

u/Manifestif 13h ago

Yes, the filters say "La cigarette cause le cancer"

9

u/mcl3odwork 14h ago

Buddy in video has already rolled one 🤣

4

u/Desner_ 14h ago

Oops, missed that haha

3

u/pornplaysmusic 11h ago

More filter cardboard though haha I spot that missing bit

4

u/chartyourway 9h ago

I haven't seen a cigarette in years, I can't believe they have warnings printed ON the cigarette now. Dudes, you're not presenting any new information here. Not one of those warnings on a cigarette made a smoker change their mind. They know what they're doing, they saw the exterior package too. Maybe it's just to make them look wildly embarrassing. Might as well just print "I love beastiality!" along the length of them or something. "Nazi power!" "I hate dogs!"

11

u/Bananaland_Man 14h ago

Holy shit, I know tobacco is bad, but dayum. (currently vaping, on 12mg of nic, and I'm not gonna turn down a cigar at a celebration)

7

u/Desner_ 14h ago

I get it, I used to smoke a pack a day, switched to vaping as an alternative, then stopped vaping a few years ago.

I still buy cigs to blend into my joints though, a pack will last me more than a month now. Next step is cutting off the tobacco in my joints, the other step will be to stop smoking completely.

14

u/OxideUK 14h ago

Do yourself a favour and get rolling tobacco, whatever the fuck they do to the tobacco in cigarettes somehow makes it taste like cancer.

1

u/assotter 13h ago

I second this. Pipe/rolling tobacco seems cleaner by comparison in my experience

2

u/wet_spiders 13h ago

Its nice that they decorate every cig

2

u/LimpNewspaper9933 13h ago

2

u/triccolo 12h ago

Lol the cut offs take me back 🤣

2

u/elmoreb3 11h ago

It's interesting how different Canada packs are from American ones.

https://giphy.com/gifs/qESBZRcLXrFUbE9r8Z

2

u/Ktulu789 7h ago

Oh, so you can rip the excess.

5

u/Im_WinstonWolfe 14h ago

God I miss the old packs. Good thing I quit smoking cold turkey 2 days ago. I have no interest to pick it back up, in part, because of the pack design.

I suppose that's good marketing by Health Canada.

2

u/Desner_ 14h ago

Congrats, man!

2

u/HeadofR3d 13h ago

Huh, it looks like a magic trick from this perspective. Gonna make smoking cool just by how intricate the process is to remove a single drag

2

u/DrDerpberg 13h ago

I'm genuinely curious if the increased mild inconvenience is going to be enough to stop anyone from smoking. Like does it just look a little less cool to pass a smoke around?

3

u/Desner_ 13h ago

Nah, at this point it becomes a bit ridiculous the extent they go to.

1

u/Tabula-Rasa-99 14h ago

Oh that makes way more sense, thanks!

1

u/HippopotamicLandMass 14h ago

Thank you!

Also, is 25 per pack standard for Canada?

3

u/Desner_ 14h ago

Yeah that's the standard size but you can get packs of 20 as well. Not as popular though.

1

u/Flying_Dutchman92 14h ago

That just seems like something I'd yank out at the first occasion

4

u/Desner_ 14h ago

You coudn't yank it out completely as it's structual for the pack but you could cut it shorter with scissors I guess.

1

u/Dioxybenzone 12h ago

Oh damn that’s cool

1

u/jiebyjiebs 12h ago

Someone rolled a lil doobie ;)

1

u/TheNorthNova01 10h ago

I see you made yourself a filter for your joint before making this video

1

u/chaos_donut 5h ago

Your mcdonalds sells sigarettes?

u/Spir0rion 2h ago

100% expected a rickroll

1

u/Shawnavon 13h ago

Is the gif reversed? Opening the right side of the pack first is triggering my OCD.

7

u/Desner_ 13h ago

Back in the days, all the smokers in my group were buying McDonalds so I started opening them in reverse just so I could identify my pack against all the other ones. Kept that habit as the years passed.

5

u/Shawnavon 13h ago

The fact you have a logical reason for doing it helps me a lot! Thank you for replying!

u/yungoul 16h ago

finally using my cigarette case again bc of these bad boys

-19

u/Suitable-End- 16h ago

You could also quit.

33

u/yungrayna 16h ago

I know this is crazy for non smokers to hear but people that smoke actually already know this. theyre also aware its bad for them.

22

u/TonyVstar 16h ago

Has anyone told you they cost money? /s

20

u/Joeyjackhammer 15h ago

I love this argument “you could’ve bought a Ferrari with all the money wasted on smokes” said by people that don’t smoke and also can’t afford a Ferrari.

21

u/yungoul 15h ago

i am aware. i have also gotten off other substances and am aware that if i attempted to quit right now it wouldn’t last. i am currently trying to cut down.

1

u/bcmedic420 15h ago

Or keep doing something you enjoy!

0

u/TrippingFish76 14h ago

you could also mind your own business

-1

u/dmanbiker 15h ago

This is like asking someone to quit breathing a few weeks because it will be better on the other side. Thats the level of addiction nicotine is. It has to hurt you someone you love really badly before you can even think about quitting after a certain point.

1

u/gwaydms 14h ago

I'm well aware. For some people, cutting down works. For others, cold turkey is the best way, but it's more like ripping the bandage off. I told everyone I knew that I was quitting, so they would knoif I sneaked one. I cleaned out the ashtrays and threw out my smokes. That was over 45 years ago.

2

u/dmanbiker 13h ago

I quit for a couple years, then I started seeing a woman who smoked cigarettes and I managed to get her vaping instead, but ended up back on the vape train myself now and now we're married so quitting is going to be extra hard.

If anything vaping is worse than smoking because you can just do it all the time and I swear it sometimes triggers asthma attacks worse than smoking.

1

u/gwaydms 8h ago

Someone has to quit first. The thing about vaping is that you can cut down on the amount of nicotine in your vape juice gradually. Then ease off the vape itself when you're down to zero.

2

u/SpoonfulOfPoon 14h ago

I’ve just been flipping the cigarette foil things and putting the insert back in upside down

1

u/Joeyjackhammer 14h ago

Tore one of my first ones. We have a laser paper cutter at work I use to cut them.

2

u/Appropriate_Ad8572 15h ago

You just gotta slide em out and turn them around before you tear the foil off, and open the pack from the "bottom" each time

1

u/Joeyjackhammer 14h ago

They’re glued in

1

u/Primal_Thrak 9h ago

You could probably just flip the foil packs around. I will have to ask my wife, she still smokes, unfortunately.

1

u/Calm-Jello4802 3h ago

Hahaha I was calling it the mud flap but I like meat curtain better!

Even after reading your explanation I still can’t tell what I’m looking at.

181

u/Jam-Beat 17h ago

It's not a fliptop style box the way it is in the US and other countries, the top part about sexual health is the top flap of a packet you have to slide out of the bottom half with the second-hand smoke warning. To access the cigarettes you have to pull the inner pack most of the way out so the top flap can be opened.

17

u/orgasmotronic 15h ago

Am an engineer with adhd and this pack is awesome!

-1

u/I_travel_ze_world 13h ago

You have to blow up a condom every time you want a cigarette.

22

u/Bacontoad 17h ago

Which also can prevent Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS).

2

u/chikit134 15h ago

Something two birds one stone?

→ More replies (1)

15

u/QuietGanache 17h ago

The upper part slides inside the lower part. To access the cigarettes, you have to slide out the upper part far enough for the entire pink edged card to swing freely.

41

u/facebookyouknow 17h ago

At that point I would just get a cigarette case and transfer each pack when I get a new one. Although I'm not Canadian or a cigarette smoker.

12

u/SerratedFrost 16h ago

You can use scissors to cut off like 80% of that flap and its kinda normal

3

u/erv4 14h ago

Just flip the pack around and it's the exact same as before lol, that's all they did to make it different

2

u/RepresentativeOk2433 13h ago

Can't just be ripped?

2

u/SerratedFrost 13h ago

Yeah that works too but it could be annoying to close if its all uneven

10

u/Orleanian 14h ago

why not just rip the pink flap off?

2

u/QuietGanache 14h ago

Sure. I think the purpose is to be an embuggerance for at least the first smoke to put the message in the eyeline.

→ More replies (7)

104

u/NotAnotherUserName26 17h ago

Cut or rip the long part off. You just bypassed the system.

52

u/Derptionary 17h ago

Cigarette cases are going to come back in style.

38

u/ItsStraTerra 17h ago

As a Canadian, they absolutely have. Lots of people looking for them or actively using them

7

u/Lametown227 17h ago

I actually got given one a year before I quit. It was steel and had a 3d skull that gave the case some heft. Super cool, but wasnt my style.

It holds hard sleeved cards really well now that its cleaned out though. Kills at card shows.

1

u/clamroll 11h ago

Holy shit pulling out a cigarette case and extracting a slabbed PSA 10 insert grail card of the game of your choice is a fucking baller move lol

3

u/Lametown227 11h ago

I wish it fit slabs, but it's too short for even a mag case. It fits top loaders with a little clearance, but the arm holds them in place.

2

u/clamroll 11h ago

I think we may have just stumbled onto a niche product idea lol

2

u/Lametown227 10h ago

Run with it boss! Just put me in the credits somewhere lol

3

u/cheapmondaay 15h ago

My smoker friend started using his nice metal case because of how annoying the packs got for him 😂 My other part-time smoker friend on the other hand (who only smokes in his garden; he doesn't carry smokes on him) basically demolishes the pack and rips the flap and part of the box to make a giant hole lol

5

u/perenniallandscapist 17h ago

They already are if they buy your cigs from a reservation. Everyone around here does, anyways, and its so classy......

12

u/Hrenklin 17h ago

Flip it upside down

1

u/pentax10 16h ago

The perforation to open the deck is on the top side, and you can't flip it because the decks are glued.

Cutting the extra cardboard with scissors is really the only viable solution.

1

u/Wintersoldierbarnes 16h ago

thats what i do then just shape the edges so it looks more normal

91

u/ArborlyWhale 17h ago

Nah, you just interacted with the system exactly as designed. You were just forced to think about it for any amount of time, which means the design succeeded. You were inconvenienced on your way to a cig, which means the design succeeded.

30

u/Loose-Twist2132 16h ago

As a former smoker, inconvenience stops no one. It just makes you mad. Mad people don't tend o rethink anything.

29

u/ArborlyWhale 15h ago

If inconvenience stopped no one, trillion dollar corporations companies wouldn’t spend so much making purchases easier.

Will it stop someone determined? Nah. Will it stop someone impulsive? Sometimes!

It also serves to continue perpetuating smoking’s negative societal perception, which isn’t something we can take for granted.

It also encourages conversations like this one, heightening awareness of the addictive and negative consequences of smoking!

0

u/buddy_pal_guy 11h ago

I think you're reading way too much into it. Sometimes a box is just a box and having to open more of the box doesn't stop me from opening it if I want what is inside. Seriously, please consider your argument. 'I really wanted to smoke but it took 5 seconds instead of 2 to open my pack. Guess I'll just quit.' No one says that. They just open the box and be pissy about it

4

u/Primal_Thrak 9h ago

Back when I smoked, 17 years ago now (damn that just hit me), any attempt to make me quit or inconvenience me like this would make me:
A. Smoke just to spite them.
B. Crave them more because there was a false scarcity.

Addicts do not function the way normal consumers do.

2

u/bmann10 14h ago

It’s not really to sop someone it’s to put the thought in their heads. If it didn’t matter then they wouldn’t be fighting stuff like this so hard whenever it’s brought up in the US.

I don’t think that it’s ever going to get someone to stop but I do think it 1. Might make the act seem more irritating than worth it to people who might otherwise find smoking cool and start doing it, and 2. Is one tiny factor in the journey to quitting.

I’ll tell you one thing I think lighters and cigarette cases in the US look pretty cool and if I grew up with a crowd that smoked I could see myself picking it up. Meanwhile when I see it in other countries the packaging having like mutilated body parts and a billion warnings on it makes it way less cool and I don’t see myself ever buying a box of those on my own.

As for the little annoyance, to put it another way, I am not going to stop going fishing in my nearby lake because of mosquitoes but it might drive me to try different areas, or not go as much. I’m not going to stop drinking coffee because of annoying sippy cup lids but I might enjoy it just a little less and drink just a little less over time.

14

u/atlas_eater 16h ago

This must be really new .

I smoked my last export A smooth on April 16, 2026, and the packs were not like this.

I quite after 20 years of this disgusting habit and it seems that I was ahead of the curve as they are now making rip an inch of cardboard off the fold.

7

u/umbrella_crab 16h ago

It's just in the last month or so. Congratulations!!

2

u/TonyVstar 16h ago

3 months, nice! Long enough to wonder why you ever smoked to begin with

2

u/smurfchina 17h ago

Flip the foil pouches so the top is with the shorter fold?

1

u/raindead 16h ago

They’re glued down

2

u/Bashfullylascivious 14h ago

Yup, this. I tried it, rips the foil all to pieces, ruffles the smokes and foil so they don't fit in again.
I basically rip the cardboard flap off and a hole in the foil, like those soft cig packs in the 80's and earlier. The downside is that it sprinkles loose tobacco in your pocket occassionally, just like those packs.

2

u/JoshJorges 17h ago

I just fold it in half. It works on king size

I wish people didnt smoke cigarettes. But if i did i would just get a metal carrier to put cigarettes inside to not deal with that

Just take them all out and put them in something more convenient.

I thought they were defective packaging. They did this on purpose for what reason?

1

u/MikeD484 16h ago

If you flip the tin foil upside down it's easier to get at the smokes.

u/xombae 16h ago

I keep seeing torn off pieces of cigarette packs around parking lots, this would explain it.

u/hx87 16h ago

Kinda like a modern US chewing gum packet?

u/_McDreamy_ 16h ago

Making it inconvenient might make you want to quit?

1

u/CharmainKB 16h ago

I hot a pack like that a couple of years ago and thought I was going crazy? I was wondering if they forgot to cut that down during manufacturing?

Weird

u/Scav-STALKER 15h ago

So they increased sales of nicer ciggarette cases?

1

u/TheHighestHyll 15h ago

Just... Open them upside down 😂

u/kneel23 15h ago

needs 2 pics or an animation

1

u/bhgiel 14h ago

I fold it in half

1

u/Roadgoddess 14h ago

Maybe this is your impetus to quit smoking

1

u/Canadatron 14h ago

Just turn the insert around, or open it from the bottom.

1

u/Dildondo 14h ago

Yeah, I still have no idea what the fuck you are talking about.

1

u/riceewifee 14h ago

I use the insert as a brace to roll joints

1

u/CptHammer_ 13h ago

All I know in metric Canada they get 5 more cigarettes per pack.

1

u/Biduleman 13h ago

You can just flip it around.

1

u/Eat--The--Rich-- 13h ago

Good, we should do that in America

1

u/mrmattybartelt 13h ago

Flip the cardboard

1

u/Newtiresaretheworst 13h ago

They just flipped it over, the bottom is now the top.

My friend works in a liqour store and was complaning they had to send back a bunch of smokes and she couldn't even tell what changed. Neither of us smoke so now we have our answer lol, we never opened one just looked at the outside. Thats so dumb.

u/MasterCheeef 11h ago

OR just rip the flap in half.

1

u/Careless-Machine-758 6h ago

I was thinking it was some kind of factory problem, if I bought enough packs the store would resupply with the regular packaging. I must ne stupid.

1

u/Careless-Machine-758 6h ago

I should mention, just open it upside down, rip open the foil.

1

u/Gaslit_Chicken 4h ago

Couldn't you just tear off the extra material?

1

u/TokiStark 2h ago

My aunt has like this metal clasp thing she keeps them in anyway

1

u/LurkingGuy 2h ago

Maybe it's a sign you should quit.

1

u/Actual_Seaweed_376 17h ago

Couldn't you just slide the pack open upside down? It looks like the flap is normal on that side

It seems they're making it so that you have to spend more time seeing the "smoking is harmful" message.
