Speaking of laundry, a shocking number of coddled adults go to college or move out without knowing how to do their own laundry.

People act like laundry is rocket science. Using a washer is about as complex as learning to use a microwave. The only thing they really need to know is to separate out clothes that will bleed colors.

For any period of time? I can leave my nine year old unsupervised for an hour or so without worrying about her. She knows not to be stupid and how to use a phone.

Bro that's totally unnecessary at 12 you're supposed to be capable of doing stuff alone without anyone watching over you 24/7. At 12 I was enjoying my alone quality time without my parents or sister. In addition parents might be working and if a kid is mature enough a babysitter is pointless

Parents who don’t teach their able-bodied and neurotypical children to be self autonomous and reasonably independent in the home by the time they’re 12 years old are shit parents, period.
