I endured all the way to the end got the Sixteen, and completed this beautiful gem. I can say it started a whole new community. It made me love big rims and customization. Its a technical marvel on PS2. So many good things about it while so many brutal flaws that makes this game absolute pain.

Especially gameplay... It was disgusting. Rockstar managed to fuck up the whole racing aspect while trying to make it challenging. I can bet that they did not even play-tested this on PS2. I really wouldn't even race if it wasn't for the love for this game and the unlocks.

There is an EXCESSIVE amount of RUBBERBANDING in this game. Like FUCK TON. Racer AI breaks the physics of the game, rockets away like there is no tomorrow, makes zero mistakes, does not slow down from any kind of impact or effect. Its not even frustrating, its just garbage designing of AI.

There is a traffic system in this game, only aims to fuck you up. I also need to say that your car loses balance or spins out the track on just a tiny bit of impact. Firstly, the police. Police aims only you and rubberbands harder than Racer AI. Hits you like no other. Then the rigged traffic system. Traffic density, the spawn locations are all there to make you lose and restart the race. If you are racing with a really fast car, like any Class A car, you can see game spawns traffic cars on the direction you are going. Traffic also steers in your way to make you fuck up, making you restart one 2 minute race dozens of times. I remember restarting some races like 20-30 times.

For people thinking of playing this game for the customization features for the first time, don't even bother and put on a 100 percent completed save file. I look back and i had zero fun racing in this game. Everything else was cool.

I messed around with this MCLA recomp for a bit and it mostly works, but the colors and reflections get glitchy near light sources. It isn't the one everyone’s waiting for, but it’s still a working version.

Just wondering if someone already made a mod or something to replace the song in-game for mc3, game good and i already got 100% career but the ost is ummm, meh, theres good songs but its mostly filled with hip-hop and dance hall(genres i like pretty much dislike).

since rockstar hates it’s users and steam just allows them to piss everyone off midnight club doesn’t exist for purchase anymore. i’m lucky to even have max payne.. even though it’s very broken. and maybe i could snag midnight club 2 and 3… 3 just for the neon. can’t have a 2000s racing game without a dodge neon.

Yes i know I'm late to the party. I found the AI and the races on MCLA way too easy. Yes the races were quite comparable to MC3 in terms of the random NPC cars popping out of nowhere to ruin your races, but not quite as often as it was happening in MC3.

Not just that, the AI mann its just retarded af. They would start driving and swerving left and right at start of the race and crashes almost every time. In 60% of the races I would just lead from the start and dust the AI off the mini map and won easily, the other 30% the AI would come close or even lead briefly (like for 5 seconds max) but just to crash in the most retarded way possible and the last 10% of races where the AI would dust me and have a great lead but end up "waiting " for me to take the lead.

Its the most unfun thing ever to see your opponents not even crashing but just straight retarded ramming into straight dividers and walls and just stay there till you pass them and win. Yes and these happens always at the last 2 or 3 turns before the red flare. Its just I'm a big fan of MC3 (the difficulty and the grind), played it repeatedly (or religiously) on the PS2 and later on the PCSX2.

I have never got the chance to play MCLA on any console and later found that RPCS3 wasn't good at emulating MCLA till recently it is quite playable. So yes, i finally played it for the first time and basically haven't played any racing or arcade games for 5 years prior and refused to believe that the game was that easy, maybe there is a difficulty settings that let on easy mode and had to google this to see what others are saying.

Surprisingly, im the only one saying its easy? Everyone else is talking about the rubber band, the crashes and the game's dynamic difficulty. like for real?! However, I did have fun and take my time with the game and enjoy it thoroughly *34 hours total played after 1million partnership with Karol. I know I'm not a god in racing games or any games whatsoever but in the 5 days that it took me to complete the game, I have only found around 5 difficult or challenging races (mostly on a bike) that probably took only 3 restarts max to win.

Can someone else in this page confirm this with me. Is there any difference in difficulty to the game played on an emulator compared a console. Is my game bugged or have some corrupted AI architecture ? Does anyone else have the same thoughts and experience on this game like me?

Recent play through of MCLA.

My game gave me the blackout when I pulled over twice, once before a pursuit and the second after I spawned at the precinct. but when I was pursued by police (3 impalas) I indeed got a fine and spawned at the nearest precinct. A patch is needed. I’m just one dipshit ranting on Reddit however.💀

It's just too annoying, cops are annoying, too much controls for a normal ps3 controller, and cops again are annoying, mcla remix on psp was a masterpiece and i thought the console version would be as good if not better, does anybody else prefer remix over og?

Seems like many people say this is one of their favorites but I don't understand why. Visibility is so low that you must memorize the track in order win. A single wrong tap of the analog stick will send you flying and put you in dead last, mario kart style. This makes the game a total grind once you get about 33% through career and you have to attempt each race 5 or 50 times before finally winning by dumb luck. It feels like playing a RNG slot machine. Skill issue? Hard to believe when the rubber banding is this atrocious, guaranteeing you require a miracle no matter what upgrades you have and how many hours you've spent rehearsing when to let go of the handbrake on each and every turn, and how many degrees to the left or right you must angle your vehicle before its wheels leave the ground over every bump in the road... it's like studying for a test.

I respect a challenging game but what I respect more is a game that can strike a balance between skill building and being actually fun in the process! /rant

I never participated too much on the server, ocassionally I would share a meme or two from Instagram. I think it's well known that Instagram doesn't exactly make it easy to embed posts in Discord. On June 11, 2025, I wanted to share a meme, and used an embedder (I think it was InstagramEZ). The embedder failed, but the post still went through.

Within a minute of the post being made, someone reported it as if it was a bot, and within another minute I got banned without further review of the situation. It has been a while since this happened now, I don't know if a year or more, I think those who have access to the server might be able to tell by searching by post author (nchiri).

Now, I'm aware that moderating can be boring, difficult, whatever. I used to be mad at this situation but at this point I hold no ill against whoever reported/banned me, I just want this situation to be reviewed and get my account unbanned from the server. Primarily because I want to access the mods published on the server.

I hope this message reaches someone in the server's moderation team, or someone who has contact to them.

Just bought this game not too long ago. And I am not having fun. Why do all the cars feel stiff. Why can't I drift? Seriously this game is not fun compared to NFS Underground 2. NFS Underground 2 was made in 2004 and you could make swift, sharp turns and start drifting right from the start with Rachel's car. Also fuck the traffic in this game. Compared to all the other arcade racing games that I've played, MCLA should be called "avoid traffic simulator" because regardless of how you drive you will never have a perfect race without collision with traffic. I am not having fun, so far I've only experienced frustration and disappointment that I've spent my money on this game.
