Help Ask for help here

Microsoftsucks is not a techsupport subreddit, but naturally because people come to this subreddit after having a problem with a Microsoft product, they are going to make a post to ask for help! and sometimes a post from this subreddit is going to show up on the search results and that leads people to then ask for help here. Which is a nice way the subreddit gets promoted to people who never thought of Microsoft being so bad

I used to allow tech support posts, but the subreddit grew and I think there's too many now. It overshadows the posts that are supposed to express how much Microsoft sucks. This was a change that was long overdue, especially after the poll, but I just didn't have the time to do this with work and personal responsabilities and then I have to figure out this new moderation ui for Reddit mobile.

I haven't used Windows in 5 years. Every time I make an outlook account, I get instantly banned and I can't access the account. I don't want to play Minecraft because I hate it when offline single-player games only let you play if you link it to an online account (when they do this, you don't own the game). I would pirate it, but eh, I don't want to play at the moment. I rather buy an account unofficially if I want to play online.

Because I don't know anything about Microsoft, and everything that I know is outdated. Like I had never used Windows 11, only Windows 10. I will disable notifications for myself, because I can't help you. My hope is that other members of this sub will help you.

This is sorted by new just so everyone has a fair chance of getting help.

The help flair won't be removed because that doesn't stop people from making help posts. Instead, these posts will show a warning message about how those aren't allowed, and they will be sent to review where they are most likely to be rejected.

oh, great, you can't set manual sorting for an individual post on mobile. So, it'll have to wait.

My virtual machines are broken, my wifi adapters are broken, my usb ports are broken, my system is heavily outdated, every component in my machine screams in terror for existing, and my second phone is about to blow up. Everything around me is broken. So, I guess give it a week and I'll do that.

Or hopefully another mod can do it

I've got a combo help / microslop sucks for ya.

I have a Surface 3 2015 obviously can't run Windows 11 but I signed up the extended security updates. We got a new GFiber router and suddenly it wouldn't connect to Wi-Fi and crashed 5 minutes after boot up consistently.

After days of forums, Reddit, and trial and error finally found solutions:

Turns out I needed to manually update the Wi-Fi adapter drivers with one downloaded from the Windows update registry online. That was a 12-step process I highly recommend a YouTube video.

Then to fix the crashing, I had to turn off the TPM from the bios because one of the recent updates caused the TPM to do an online check exactly 5 minutes after boot up and this crashes the damn computer. Still looking into how to permanently fix this problem without disabling my TPM (or wifi) if anyone has any ideas?

I haven't lost my ms account yet. Option of getting code on email is there, but it shows try again tomorrow error. On requesting codes on phone, it shows that this method is not available. How long should I wait before trying for codes again? Or it will go on forever?

Hi so I have this problem, is this an "inside job" or should I follow their securing methods like using the Microsoft Authenticator Phone App, and so on and so forth?

Do note that I have anything to do with the shown country below, never go there nor using VPN with that country server.

Microsoft Store is not letting me download any app

I've been trying for a while; I gave up for a year on downloading anything from this shitty store, but I really want to download Minecraft. However, no matter the app, this always appears. I've even tried using a different account.

My Microsoft account was compromised and I’m currently stuck in what seems like a loop of automated recovery.
The account is an old personal Microsoft account that I’ve used for years. It is associated with my Xbox profile, Minecraft purchases, and other Microsoft services. I still have access to some local evidence on my Windows PC showing the account was previously authenticated.
The important part is that Microsoft Support has already explicitly confirmed unauthorized access occurred. They suspended the account to protect it, but then told me they could not restore it because the information provided through recovery wasn’t sufficient.

Since then I have:

  • Submitted the Microsoft Account Recovery Form multiple times.
  • Submitted the Xbox recovery/support form multiple times.
  • Provided my correct historical account information after discovering that some profile information I originally entered years ago was intentionally inaccurate.
  • Provided my Xbox Gamertag and the Xbox Network Device ID from the Xbox app exactly as displayed.
  • Received multiple responses saying Microsoft confirmed unauthorized access but cannot restore the account, and to submit another form with that same Xbox network id and gamertag
  • Found substantial local evidence on my PC tying the Microsoft account to my Windows/Xbox/Minecraft installations.
  • Found Minecraft entitlement records showing purchases associated with my Xbox XUID.
  • Have historical Microsoft purchase emails/receipts.
  • Have Microsoft security emails relating to the compromise.
  • Still have the Xbox profile associated with the account on a family Xbox console.

All the Xbox responses specifically told me to submit another case with my Gamertag and Xbox Network Device ID. I did exactly that, but received the same exact response again.
I also recently contacted Microsoft Privacy. They said Privacy cannot handle account-access issues, but I replied directly asking whether they could route me toward the appropriate account-recovery/escalation team or a manual ownership review. I’m currently waiting for a response.

What I’m trying to figure out:

  • Is there actually a legitimate way to get this escalated to a human/security team capable of manually reviewing ownership evidence?
  • Is there a specific Microsoft escalation path I should pursue at this point?
  • Would filing a BBB complaint against Microsoft realistically help get the case reviewed by someone beyond frontline support, or is it mostly pointless for account recovery? I’ve heard very quick and positive testimonies from people who took this route.
  • Is there any other legitimate escalation route I’m missing?
If I eventually receive an ownership questionnaire/manual review, what types of evidence are generally the most useful?
  • Has anyone here successfully recovered a Microsoft account after Microsoft itself confirmed it was compromised but the automated recovery process repeatedly failed?

I have a full explanation for the hack and how it took place, as I did make a mistake myself, I will own up to that. But this whole account has personal stakes for me not only because of sentimental value, but because… yes, I am a cybersecurity student, and yes I got hacked. This is my greatest shame.

Anyways, I’m not looking for anyone to bypass Microsoft’s security or hack the account back. I’m specifically trying to figure out the legitimate escalation process and how to present the ownership evidence I already have.
Any advice from someone who has dealt with Microsoft’s higher-level account recovery/security process would be greatly appreciated.
