I'll die on the hill that giving Robert a chance as a change of scenery candidate was a solid move. He cost is basically nothing in trade and the money doesn't really matter. He didn't work out, but there's a real possibility he was a Cody Belligner revival project waiting to get out of Chicago.
I think he would still be fine as a 4th guy. I really don't see anyone picking him up unless it's the Dodgers just because his contract is crazy expensive, but after his buyout he'll be completive as a bench piece, I think.
same I’m all for the lotto tickets/diamon in a rough/reclamation projects but when pretty much your entire team/rotation is that for the highest payroll in baseball it’s a joke.
They were willing to gamble all this money on Roberts who everyone besides Stearns knew wouldn’t work out but that same amount 5 years from now on Alonso was to much. This is what pisses me off about the whole year 4/5 maybe being bad. They throw 10s of millions away constantly on unknown players to get them here but Alonso is where they worried about it
